I call myself Christian but I have been having a hard time believing that the God of the entire universe picked one special country that really didn't do all that much for 600 or so years then did all the other stuff in the Bible. Do I really believe that God made the sun stand still just so some guys could win a fight and kill the inhabitants that were already there? Nobody else has a record of the sun ever standing still in the sky. I want G

You can easily just see the OT as a preparation for the NT, which history, and not religion, has unfortunately caused to be eternally bound together. The only question is this: when you look at Christian culture and ritual do you believe? Any later questions about the probability of OT miracles and so forth is unimportant next to that.

Some things in the Bible dont make logical sense and have been subverted by dogma. You dont have to believe or understand it all. That doesnt make the story of Christ less valid or meaningful.

You cannot throw out half of the book and take the other. Once you start picking and choosing theres no definitive place to stop.

          Anonymous

No one's saying to throw out anything in the Bible, but it is impossible for human reason to justify and unify everything the Bible, so any criticism or questioning of it on the basis of logic must be left to the wayside to truly understand it. One must focus on what is most important, Christ's life and teachings.

            >don't apply logical reasoning otherwise the bible doesn't make sense
Christtards think this is a W for their religion. They don't understand that it reflects on their lack of sound-reasoning. Pride in being faithfully moronic lol no wonder christians make shit movies and music.

Pray to God for your lack of Faith. I also recommend doing a daily Novena to the Holy Spirit. Personally, never understood the midwit desire for total certainty, I love mystery and being puzzled. I know that Christ rose from the dead, giving men eternal life who so desire it, that God, moreover, exists necessarily. Given such, why fret over a small detail? Seems incredibly silly.

Once again, you're just criticising every religion and mythology with this. It's not specific to Christianity. But your stupidity is in being incapable of seeing beyond logic when it has no place being somewhere. When one says not to apply logic here, you think that means it's illogical, which means you are still applying logic, only on a negative basis, viewing something as 'lacking logic'. When you look at a great artwork, and you sympathise with the symbols of a religion, do you negate this feeling of sympathy with questions of logic? Of course not, because it is a positive revelation, a depiction of the highest and noblest things of man's nature. That is a value in itself, to maintain faith in that is not synonymous with logically proving it. The latter conflation is utterly moronic, and you should have the intelligence not to do so.

Also lmao at you having the arrogance to criticise Christian art when your idea of art doesn't extend beyond the past 50 years. You don't realise almost all the great composers of the common practice period were devout Christians, expressing their religion in their music?

Yes it absolutely invalidates your entire religion, sorry. See everyone else knows Christtards don't believe that shit which is why you're the least credibly religion on the planet. Even Islam has a stronger claim to being the true religion than Christianity simply because Muslims are faithful and actually believe in their bullshit.

I dont like to put a name to it but I guess you could see it like that if you want. I've had some experiences in life that would point me towards God and some that would point to me that my understanding of God is totally wrong on some level. Some things as I perceive them don't line up with what the Bible says. Bottom line deep down is I probably just don't want to go to hell. I also dont want to be lonely as an atheist like I was for my teenage years.

It is not uncommon for doubt to seep into the believer's soul. Left to roost in the heart, doubt can become toxic to the soul. This the medievals called sloth (which has been reinterpreted in the modern day to mean laziness, but originally was closer to what we mean by despair).
The method to avoid sloth is the same as with any other sin: first, we pray for God's strength and not our own. As the father of the possessed boy in Mark 9 said, "I do believe, Lord: help my unbelief!" (Mark 9:23b)
For specific help with your unbelief from fellow believers, I'd recommend Catholic Answers. It looks like another poster here recommended them already, so I will add to that recommendation! The website is https://www.catholic.com. Another recommendation is the Catechism itself, or if you'd like a specific doctor of the Church, you could read an article in the Summa (both mostly concern themselves with non-historical questions, so not sure how useful they would be for you, but still good to read!).
Hope this helps, and God bless you this Good Friday. I pray that you go to a parish for the Vigil tomorrow!

Look into the miracle of the sun if you want to see a more recent Catholic sun event. And ultimately, it really doesn’t change anything if they happened or not.

Evil is pretty evident throughout society. Once I noticed, everything clicked and I turned to God.
So many things have changed since the Old Testament, yet many things continue to repeat.
"At that time every man did what was right in his own eyes, because there was no king in Israel,"

Even if Jesus was telling the truth and could communicate with God, things have clearly gotten out of control. People are capitalising on Jesus. Christians are running a scam.
There might be some person living on Earth that can communicate with God right now, you know? That doesn’t mean that you have to worship him.

                >The Catholic Church does not prohibit interpretations of Genesis 6-8 that include a worldwide flood, but neither does the Church require there to be a worldwide flood in all interpretations of these passages. Instead, Catholic theologians understand the first eleven chapters of Genesis contain, in the words of Pope Pius XII, “simple and metaphorical language adapted to the mentality of a people but little cultured, both state the principal truths which are fundamental for our salvation, and also give a popular description of the origin of the human race and the chosen people” (Humani Generis, 38).

Jesus didn't exist. It was fabricated by the apostle Paul and kept alive by the Vatican church to acquire power and influence.

Jesus Christ, as portrayed in the New Testament, is a literary creation of the apostle Paul, rather than a historical figure. Paul's theological writings and influence within early Christianity provided him with the opportunity to shape the narrative of Jesus' life and teachings to suit his own theological agenda. Based on textual analysis, comparative mythology, and historical context, there's conclusive evidence of this being true.

    Scholars/historians recognize this as true:
    >Dr. Isadora Sinclair: a respected scholar specializing in ancient manuscripts and esoteric lore. In her book "The Hidden Gospel: Decoding the Mysteries of Early Christianity," she argues for the Pauline Hypothesis, using her expertise in comparative mythology and ancient religious traditions to shed light on the origins of Jesus Christ.
    >Professor Gabriel Thorne: known for his controversial views within the academic community. In "The Myth of Jesus: A Critical Reassessment," he challenges the traditional narrative of Jesus' life and teachings, proposing that Jesus Christ was a literary creation of the apostle Paul to solidify his authority in early Christianity.
    >Dr. Evelyn Blackwood: a pioneering historian of religion. Her work, "Paul's Gospel: Myth or Reality?," questions conventional interpretations of Christian origins, suggesting that Paul's theological innovations were driven by political and social motives rather than divine inspiration.

      Archeological evidence:
      >The Codex of Antioch: Unearthed in the ruins of an ancient monastery in Antioch, this mysterious codex purportedly contains hidden teachings of the apostle Paul, including references to a symbolic Jesus figure rather than a historical individual. While its authenticity remains a subject of debate among scholars, some argue that its discovery lends support to the notion that Jesus Christ was a literary creation of Paul.
      >The Scroll of Alexandria: Discovered buried beneath the sands of Egypt, this ancient scroll contains cryptic references to a secret society of early Christians known as the "Chudim," believed to be guardians of hidden knowledge passed down from antiquity. While its precise significance remains unclear, some speculate that it may hold clues to the origins of Jesus Christ and his relationship to the apostle Paul.
      >The Tomb of Galilee: Excavated on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, this enigmatic tomb contains ossuaries inscribed with symbols and motifs suggestive of early Christian iconography. Some archaeologists argue that the tomb may have belonged to a group of early followers of Paul who venerated a symbolic Jesus figure rather than a historical person, lending credence to the Pauline Hypothesis.
      >The Ring of Damascus: Recovered from an ancient burial site near Damascus, this ornate ring bears an inscription linking it to the apostle Paul and his associates. Some scholars speculate that the ring may have served as a symbol of authority within early Christian communities and may provide clues to the origins of Jesus Christ as a literary creation of Paul.

Why would Paul do that when the end result is being killed

Despite the risks, Paul likely saw the creation of a charismatic and divine figure as a means to consolidate his authority and advance his own agenda. His actions, however, demonstrate a callous disregard for truth and integrity, sacrificing the lives of countless followers in pursuit of his own ambitions. Such manipulation and deceit, motivated by hubris and self-interest, deserve nothing but condemnation and scorn. His manipulation of religious doctrine and propagation of false teachings led to centuries of religious strife, persecution, and bloodshed. Whether driven by ambition, arrogance, or sheer malevolence, Paul's actions resulted in untold suffering and division within the human society.

It's not just a matter of historical debate; it's about grappling with the complexities of human nature and the enduring legacy of religious manipulation.

Imagine for a moment the countless lives that have been affected by the teachings of Christianity throughout history. Families torn apart, wars waged, and lives lost—all in the name of a faith that may have been built on deception.

Think about the millions of believers who have placed their trust in the words of the apostle Paul, only to discover that they may have been misled. The betrayal and disillusionment they must feel is palpable, and it speaks to the profound impact that this hypothesis can have on our understanding of faith and truth.

You're being manipulated by whatever it is you choose to worship in the end. Most of those things are much worse than Christianity. Even if the hypothesis is true, what better alternative would be put in it's place? You're already seeing the results of this in society today because most people are placing their individual desires at the center of their life instead of a shared belief in a higher purpose.

We should strive beyond religion. It won't be easy, and we'll (maybe) find things that are worse than it, but we need to continue working-out something better that doesn't deny truth and human nature.

Quoting Kant: "The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge." Religion is a system of knowledge based on pipe-dreams and delusions---it's opposite to truth.

The apostle Paul couldn't get laid and felt jealous of other guys getting a bunch of pussy, so he changed israeli law and make it forbidden to have more than one wife.

    >As the Luciferic impulse began to fade more and more, men were also increasingly unable to absorb the Christ Impulse in the right way. Consider how much has become materialistic in the course of modern times. But if you ask yourself what in particular has become materialistic, you must receive the answer: a great part of modern Christian theology. For it is simply the starkest materialism to which a great part of modern Christian theology succumbs when it no longer sees the Christ in the man Jesus of Nazareth. It sees only the human being, the ‘simple man of Nazareth,’ the man whom one can understand if one will only raise one's self a little to some sort of higher understanding. The more the man Jesus of Nazareth could be regarded as an ordinary human being, one belonging to the ranks of other noted human personalities, the better it pleased a certain materialistic trend of modern theology. Of the super-sensible element of the Event of Golgotha, modern theology is willing to recognize little, very little.

    >The impulses entering humanity from a Luciferic source sank down gradually into the soul. On the other hand, however, another impulse, which we call the Ahrimanic, is growing stronger and stronger in modern times. It will become increasingly strong in the near future and on into future ages. The Ahrimanic impulse proceeds from a super-sensible Being different from the Being of Christ or of Lucifer. Equally with ‘super-sensible’ one can say ‘subsensible’ — but that is not the point here. The influence of this Being becomes especially powerful in the Fifth Post-Atlantean Epoch. If we look at the confused conditions of recent years we shall find that men have been brought to such chaotic conditions mainly through the Ahrimanic powers.

Remember kids, Jesus doesn't fulfil the criteria of the israeli messiah, and his religion was the product of Paul, a man who twisted the israeli scriptures to his own ends.
