One i never hear mentioned is Detectorists. It's not the greatest, it's not particularly hilarious, but it's still very good. I think people would call it "comfy" probably.
It's good but nothing beats Dark Place. Especially if you include the commentary.
Father Ted
Rewatched that this year, it was bloody terrible. They only had a handful of jokes they repeated over and over and over, and the cheap shots at religion were predictable and tiresome.
Spaced isn't particularly funny, but it's extremely comfy and has some of the most likeable sitcom characters
Yeah it's dated, especially the editing, but there's some wonderful character stuff in it and i love it overall.
le cursing man
There's an artform to swearing, and malcom is one of the best.
My parents loved that show so i saw a LOT of it growing up coz it was constantly on ABC.
During covid companies that made PPE (personal protective equipment) lobbied for exclusive contracts for surgical and medical PPE such as disposable gowns and gloves. Turned out that the company directors were also NHS directors and were also on the Gov't committee awarding contracts
So they opened bids for the contract, bidded for the contract, gave themselves the contract, and then it turned out that they actually couldn't scale up production to their own demand so they got caught immediately
But being on the Gov't committee they acquitted themselves
There's a King's Counsel looking into it which is basically the most powerful person in the entire country, they're one bad day away from being inquisitors. Unfortunately their methodology is ponderously slow, it took like 20 years for a King's (then Queen's) Counsel to say that a policeman who called a black guy a Black person was racially motivated
So the single most powerful person in the country who is also the single most incompetent person in the country is investigating corruption
None of us have high hopes

i understand and should explain that in this entry specifically, i mean that the show was extremely popular on reddit (i presume) until those events at which point it was erased from history and nobody had ever liked it.
what at the time were some quite typical unoffensive punchlines such as reynholm dating a trans person or irish guy pretending to be in a wheelchair have since become unconscionable attacks in the current social climate which his breakdown was a reaction to
tldr: yes i meant retrospectively changing opinions not series wise
first series of boosh is kino s2 was more polished but ironically noels comedy has a more broad appeal
the it crowd was more of a joke entry as a commentary on changing perceptions of social issues.
black books lol ok well opinions are subjective i suppose. do you go to see bill bailey comedy show and see him play the piano and just because hes talented at it you get tricked into thinking its funny? are you a brainlet?
i was just thinking there phwoar its a shame tamsin greig hasnt had any work since black books and then i remembered she was in that friday night dinner. i suppose your going to tell me thats funny too?
oh frick i didn't know the dad died. but frick i really felt bad for mark heap playing that moron i think thats what the kids are calling a 'humiliation ritual' now
i went around telling people that one of the actors was a nonce for years before finding out it was a different guy.

There was one that came on weekday afternoons on Maryland Public Television before keeping up with appearances that took place in a department store that I remember being funny but I can’t remember what it was called and I’d be much obliged if anon could remind me. There was a woman I really wanted to find attractive on account of her boobs but her teeth and voice made that very difficult… if that helps to identify it
Why do anons dislike Black Books so much? Genuinely curious. It's just a fun, surreal comedy that doesn't feel the need to recycle jokes/tropes from past episodes like so many other comedies do, typically when they last too long. BB is short but sweet. And it has some fantastic one-episode cameos, like Peter Serafinawicz (or however you spell it).
There aren't any.
Peep Show is the best comedy of all time

He is severely underrated.
I would recommend Knowing me, knowing you with Alan Partridge.

the glinner breakdown was years after the last season

I have never seen a single person make a sincere complaint about the wheelchair bit
