What are some of the dumbest arguments made inside a show/comic that were supposed to be taken seriously or be valid points?

Batman getting mad at Superman for sending Doomsday to the Phantom Zone in “The Doomsday Sanction” is still one of the dumbest exchanges I think I’ve ever heard. Bruce whines about Superman playing god like Doomsday isn’t a mindless monster that loves casually killing, can manhandle Superman, has zero remorse or care, and can essentially adapt to anything. He might have had a point if it was just some low to mid level villain, but having him mad about Doomsday seemed comically ridiculous.

That was post or prior the justice lords? I think he was just scared they were crossing that line.

And I think that the Doomsday version of the DCAU is pretty sapient, not so much a walking killing machine.

It was post Justice Lords, but this wasn’t Joker being lobotomized. Batman had zero alternative to Doomsday. There’s nothing else you can do with him without him eventually killing people. Lords or not, Doomsday of all things is not the hill to die on.

      >And I think that the Doomsday version of the DCAU is pretty sapient, not so much a walking killing machine.
Doomsday could talk, but it is made extremely clear that he has no conscience whatsoever and does not care about anything except killing Superman. Superman tries reasoning with him before sending him to the Phantom Zone and it was obvious he couldn’t.

Because anti-drug PSAs don't have to conform to reality since they have to make drugs look as bad as possible. Of course, this means that when kids see real pot and real people that smoke pot and notice that they've been lied to, they're less likely to take anti-drug PSAs seriously anymore even when they're telling the truth.

Weed messes with your dopamine and serotonin receptors; the longer you use and the more potent the strain is, the worse the effects become.
But what really muddies the waters is that outside of the above, no one can say there's more debilitating effects as one person can develop psychoses like schizophrenia or neurotic behavior while another doesn't due to undetectable and untreatable risk factors.
This is why antis are so against it's legalization.

The no kill thing has always been the most ridiculous fantasy. Plenty of people are more than justified in killing in self defense or defense of others. Police take it a little far sometimes. But basically no villain without a superpower should even be alive in comic universes, they'd long ago have been killed by vengeance or the authorities.
But they have to keep the characters alive even though I think some of them are pushing a century old now in the real world.

Batman is a gay who can’t tell the difference. He’s probably the one hero who doesn’t kill when necessary. There is no greater good with Batman. He’s too stupid to see that his solution doesn’t work.

This applies to literally everyone in comics, given how all major heroes are alive.
Also, Batman was probably one of, if not the first characters TO kill in comics.
That's why these threads are so dumb. Intellectually you're aware of the real reason why he hasn't killed the Joker but you pretend they're real people.

                >because not everyone abides by his shit rule
It does, you just can't see the forest from the trees. Batman can't stop Superman, The Flash or whoever else from ripping Joker's vertebrae and shoving it down his throat. They won't do it. Wanna know why? Joker is a money maker. Galactus is a money maker. So on and so forth. With Batman it's written into his character because censorship was imposed in comics at an early point, and it became the canon explanation and excuse to why he doesn't deal with these types of people in some dark corner and just bury them in the mountains where no one will find them.

I can understand the whole not killing rule here, but in his case it reached the absurd.
I can understand criminals and super villains that aren't that much of a threat or aren't full-blown evil, but when we have guys like the Joker, Zasz, Pyg and some really nasty pieces of work then this is beyond moronic to leave them live or stick them in Arkham if the judical system is that corrupt and incompetent.
Hell, in Joker's case in a normal situation he'd have the FBI breathing at the back of his neck like vengeful murder spirits for the shit he did.

Then again it's DC not wanting to kill off the Joker because he makes money and the no kill rule is a way to stop this.
Should've killed off the Joker, bring him back as some undead revenant and watch as Batman kills him off in increasingly ridiculous ways until he comes back after some time.

It's a gimmick that allows for popular villains to stay alive and continue selling comics/merchandise and whatever else.
I agree with your logic but I can't really fault DC and Marvel's business sense here.
This is why I just treat every story arc as it's own thing. This way, I can logically justify Batman or Spider-Man not killing Joker/Carnage under the circumstances of a particularly gruesome or amoral crime.
The "throw em in jail" option works, but under the condition that this is a recent relapse from said villain, and they haven't already escaped a prison or an asylum for the 100th time.
I don't know if what I'm trying to say makes sense here but that's how I justify these events in my head.

They do it in comics because they’re meant to run forever. But it’s a different story for adaptations. Heroes can kill the bad guys in movies and tv and no one but comic buying nerds will care. The Avengers killed loads of dudes and general audiences cheered them on the whole way. Nobody really cares if guys like Spider-Man and Batman killed Carnage and the Joker respectively. Only nerds do.

That, and we tend not to ban things that are profitable. Hell, we've recently started legalizing some profitable things.

Prohibition and the War on Drugs didn't fail because they made those drugs illegal, they failed because the government got in on the take so they had no incentive to actually do their jobs.

Prohibition failed because everyone and their mum could cook up alcohol in their bathtub using nothing but potato peels. Tobacco bans would fail for the same reason in America.

You don't need a prohibition to make it less, though. Just tax the ever-loving shit out of it. Smokers already complain about how taxed it is, but it's nowhere near taxed enough for all the extra costs it puts on society in just littering and forest fires. Tax it and kids won't be able to afford starting the habit. Outlaw it and kids/rolling coal-type people will buy smuggled cigs just to rebel.

Yeah I wouldn't really trust the government with using the money properly, but anything that can cut down on cigarette butts littering every street and trail is a win in my book. Then again, that might be more easily curbed by enacting littering laws. Especially the trail ones. Punish them by making them pick up trash for a couple of months and with a huge fine because it's a wildfire risk whenever some moron throws their butt away, and then the cops will start to fine everyone they see throwing a butt away just like they fine people for 'speeding'.

            >Opium smokers used to be a very common sight a century ago, but now they're nonexistent
Because the drug changed forms, you moron. No one smokes opium because we've since learned how to refine and purify it. Maybe you've heard of a couple of the opium-derived drugs, morphine and heroin?

            >hey guys, nobody smokes opium anymore, we won!

They're all derived from the same plant. Opium used to be prescribed by doctors as a pain reliever. Doctors didn't stop relying on it because of some revelation about the dangers of opium use; they stopped because we figured out how to isolate morphine which has similar but more powerful effects.

                >Globally, opium has gradually been superseded by a variety of purified, semi-synthetic, and synthetic opioids with progressively stronger effects, and by other general anesthetics. This process began in 1804, when Friedrich Wilhelm Adam Sertürner first isolated morphine from the opium poppy.

                >The process continued until 1817, when Sertürner published his results after thirteen years of research and a nearly disastrous trial on himself and three boys. The great advantage of purified morphine was that a patient could be treated with a known dose-whereas with raw plant material, as Gabriel Fallopius once lamented, "if soporifics are weak they do not help; if they are strong they are exceedingly dangerous."

Do you really think that if we went back in time, visited an opium den, and started handing out heroin, opium addicts wouldn't prefer it? The idea that we outlawed the once-common opium dens and as a result, opium addicts vanished is naïve at best. The people who would have been opium addicts in the 1800s are just addicted to modern opioids instead.

Batman has a gay son in Tim. Jon has never been as insufferable as the Batfamily currently is. And up until recently Clark couldn’t even breed with humans, so who gives a shit about Jon. There’s still Conner if you care about muh bloodline.

That didn't bother me either because I don't give a shit about Tim.

If you think about it, Superman is way worse. He could kill every person in Arkham Asylum immediately if he wanted to, but he hasn't. He could probably even lock them up in the phantom zone or whatever.

Not his job, what kind of moronic argument is this? And why do Batgays only obsess over Superman, Red Hood could do that but Batman doesn’t let him. Jason could clean out Gotham in a week if Batman wasn’t such a crybaby

And he does that all the time. Defending Earth doesn’t mean he’s under an obligation to kill at his whim. And Gotham is Batman’s turf, Batman explicitly orders everyone to stay out. That means it’s his fault if Joker starts murdering the city because Batman had to be a prick and forbid Flash from coming in.

Yes and that would make him a criminal himself moron. Murder is a crime. Besides so could Batman. All the Batmen in the Metal event did that. If Bruce truly cared he would create prep time plans for when his villains inevitably break out of prison but he doesn’t because he’s a pussy and a moron.

It would make sense for Batman to personally not wanting to off people, even if they are scum, but I don't think Batman should prevent a criminal from being sentence to the electric chair because that is still justice. He might prevent an innocent man from being falsely convicted to the chair but I don't see how Batman should be oppose to capital due justice for the unambiguously guilty.

I still say they dropped the ball in FtMWHE by making the "Burn" like a scream of anger. To add, the show establishes that Doomsday constantly evolves to anything he initially can’t overcome or anything that hurts him. And every time he gets loose he puts a lot of lives in danger, and clearly has zero care about it and swears to get out and do it all again. Him getting out isn’t like Riddler robbing a bank, him getting out is a guaranteed crisis. Any situation you put him in he’ll adapt to and get worse than last time, so Batman being mad is stupid.

he didn't escape from space, his meteor crashed back down to earth. The only time he ever escaped in the military facility he needed someone to let him out. Wrong. Go to about 2:27. Doomsday smashed the rocket off course and back to earth. He escaped.

                ?feature=shared
                >The only time he ever escaped in the military facility he needed someone to let him out.
Again, Milo cites that Doomsday was biding his time. When he wanted to get out, he’d get out. Milo simply gave him an easier opportunity and told him where to find Superman, so he now has a motivation. Otherwise he wouldn’t have walked out of Cadmus as easily as he did.
                >He can't adapt if he isn't killed, and he wasn't, he couldn't break out of the rock.
He adapts to anything that stops him. You’re telling me he wouldn’t get out of a fricking rock? He even says he will, and Clark believes him.
                >Lock him up again and this time don't let anyone release him from the outside like what happened before.
Then he’ll get out eventually and risk another hundred lives.

No, biding his time until he finds Superman. He doesn’t care to even talk until Milo says Superman’s name. He had no motivation to leave until then, hence all the other crap Milo said not mattering to him.. Try watching the episode, since you thought Doomsday came out of a meteor magically.

Doomsday's not exactly very smart. I can say I can benchpress a planet, doesn't mean I can. He couldn't get out of the rock, and unless there's an adaptational pressure for him to get out of the rock, he ain't gonna get out.

DCAU Doomsday is a clone made from Superman's genetic material, therefore he is ethically justified in completely destroying Doomsday completely, like how Supergirl was ethically justified in murdering Galatea with an electric discharge. That Doomsday was kept alive at all is a mercy.

Batman in jl often acted like a c**t. When darkseid came for help, superman declined because he knew full well he was hiding something. But batman was like:
    >yes he mindraped you, force you to servitude and nearly destroyed your reputation
    >but you need to get over it. Millions of innocents will perish!
Superman probably saw that as mercy kill since those slaves can't become normal ever again.
There's also the fact the show never addressed how batman not only was in the wrong but darkseid almost destroyed the entire universe due to his fault.

It's not. "nightmares" is just casual shorthand for "bad end route they could have taken". They're made by World Forger making a bunch of worlds with his hammer and anvil then making a sorting bin for bad end routes and good end routes. Good end routes go into the canon pile, bad end routes get shredded in the incinerator (dark multiverse) by Barbatos.

Batman doesn't fundamentally work because of how violent his setting is. Everyone else does a good job in their own setting, but they made Gotham such a mess in comparison that it seems unbalanced.

batman's no kill was a product of the CCA, but under the CCA, EVERY villain wasn't a monstrous mass murderer so it balanced it out. now every evildoer is a monster in human form while Batman keeps his CCA no kill rule; it's truly unbalanced. you either give batman some leeway or you tone down your bad guys.

Superman goes around the world helping one small part.
BUT EVEN STILL, he is still ONE individual. he isn't omnipresent. he can't exist everywhere all at once, even with super speed. Superman going wound the world, solving every foreign issue MAY cause problems when he ISN'T around and not to mention what the government of those nations might do. NK seeing Superman might trigger some alarms and might get the US involved somewhat. It might make the US gov get under Superman's case for doing foreign affairs that might get US in trouble. Superman MAY resign his US citizenship but the other nations could easily still see him as a US Dog. Superman (and Clark) also don't know all of the problems of the world, his knowledge would only be surface level.

Really, the true solution is for every country to have their own "Superman" or a super hero in general.
