She fooled me into thinking she was a different person than who she really was. Before we got married and moved in together, she kept up appearances. But as soon as she had me on lock, she quickly stopped maintaining her facade, and things have just broken down more and more over the years until we got to where we are now. We live totally separate lives now. I have my own friends and hobbies and she has her own and we mostly ignore each other, sleep in separate rooms, etc. Only reason I stay is her family is rich, her dad bought the house and pays half the living costs for her, and I have a good rapport with her parents who seem to sympathize with me in an unspoken way. So they're financially incentivizing me to stay in this useless marriage. But I question every day whether it's worth ripping it all up and starting again. It's just barely tolerable enough to where I don't go nuts and leave.
You'd be surprised what you can put up with if it's weighed on you incrementally. If someone proposed this situation to me when I was younger, I'd tell them to frick off. But if it's done to you bit by bit, it's easier to stomach, even if you end up in the same place.
