Very glib. Just don't be so shocked when they go after your rights. And try to be more coherent. I know the r/ shutdown is on, but I bet you can do better.
Supposedly "the principal and the pauper" was extremely controversial at the time and some simpsons fans still despise it to this day.
Outside of that, everything else is either going to be one of: >First time the plot jumped the shark for a good series with a disappointing ending >Blackface >Islam
The Principal and the Pauper was alright, I wouldn’t call it the worst episode. I stopped watching The Simpsons after Maude died. Not because she was an important character but because everything felt different after she was gone.
In defense of “Skinner” not being the real Skinner, there have been real life accounts in which people take up the identities of those who may or may not be deceased. So it isn’t exactly unrealistic. That’s what Identity Theft is after all
It's one of those weird cases were the thing itself isn't poorly done, but in the context of the franchise it just shat over established lore and viewer expectations.
>Supposedly
It caused a huge rift in public opinion towards the show in general and is still regularly cited as the exact point that the Golden Age ended. The frick do you mean "supposedly"?
I'll never understand the outrage. What I hear from those who are "They lied about muh beloved Simpson's character, Principle Skinner, the steamed ham man!" Like for some reason it changes everything, because he wasn't the real Seymour Skinner? But in the end, "under penalty of torture", he gets he retains the identity of Skinner, and life goes on as normal. I like his origin of him being "a no good street punk" in youth and straightening out in Vietnam, and then softens up pretending to be Agnes' son and the school principle. While he tries to, he can't go back to his old life, he's still the same Skinner everyone knows and ended up as. People react to this episode as if Skinner was originally a murderous pirate.
>The creators don't want white people voicing characters of color.
It’s amazing how one Pajeet managed to set the animation industry back by convincing showrunners that the idea of a white person voicing anybody that isn’t blonde hair or blue eyes is bad. Even Phil LaMarr sided with the Apu guy over his own fans.
I’m glad Gandhi won’t return because then they’d have to find an Indian guy that isn’t overtly patriotic about the guy. That and him having a fricked up accent too.
>I’m glad Gandhi won’t return because then they’d have to find an Indian guy that isn’t overtly patriotic about the guy.
that might have been based though, some jeets move to the US because they despise how collectively moronic south asia is
You obviously have no idea about the dynamics between NRIs and people who live in India. The ruling party is literally run by a man who is in the same organization as the person who assassinated Gandhi
>I’m glad Gandhi won’t return because then they’d have to find an Indian guy that isn’t overtly patriotic about the guy.
Just get any of the Muslims from India. They hate Gandhi
>They're still planning to do a new character for McDonald to voice.
White suburbanites are terrified of black people and deathly afraid of clowns. I don't think they can handle a black clown.
also white people pretend not to be offended, but don't like it when black people wear white greasepaint on their faces. They might pretend to laugh but deep down their panties are all atwist.

To be fair Cleo’s voice isn’t something that’s hard to pull off, the new actress is fine and I actually had no idea they recast Cleo until I saw the credits
The creators don't want white people voicing characters of color. They're still planning to do a new character for McDonald to voice.
I am curious as to who could replicate McDonald’s voice, now Gandhi is a character with a unique tone and cadence. Only guy off the top of my heads ironically is Aziz Ansari
>Gandhi is a character with a unique tone and cadence.
generally people don't really know what ghandi sounded like, they have an idea of what he sounded like from people who did impressions of him. I don't want to use the word stereotype, but i suppose its appropriate.
you know what ghandi is supposed to sound like, just like Hitler or MLK, but most people have never actually heard any of those people speak, so they have no idea what they actually sounded like.
I refuse to believe 150 people went on a hunger strike and trapped the head of Viacom in a building only because they disliked a character from a cartoon that never aired in India. It's genuinely insane.
Its so weird to me that its ok to turn Confucious into an internet obsessed tiktok user who is basically treated as a weirdo with no real life experience but Ghandi is crossing the line somehow. I cannot imagine it would go over well if it was Martin Luther King or something.
It's not about Ghandi being the weird nerd kid, it's about the fact he's voiced by a white guy. You'd think since Danny Pudi is there they could have got him to go for it, since he's half Indian, or maybe call up Kumail Nanjiani, or the guy that does Dopinder and Spider Man India in Spider-verse. All reasonable Indian actors who could have done it. And if they wanted him to be extra annoying, call up Azis Ansari, he probably needs the work since his movie is in production hell.
Because who in current year gives a shit about Confucius as a historical figure? The most any average person knows about him is “wise Chinese cliche machine” and that’s it
I think they themselves were just dissatisfied because they said they made the humor too American and not British. Of the clips leaked online the audience was laughing and receiving it well
Should bendy even count for this the thread, even if damn near every viewers loathed him he was a literal one off that had zero lasting impact on the series.
This episode has an odd amount of problematic scens for a kids show. There's this scene where a girl doesn't like the way her hair looks and everyone takes it as racist and it is off bloom touches her hair and Stella doesn't know what it is. Episode was removed almost everywhere and hard to find online. Then there's a kind of suprising panty ass shot of stormy one of the witches which isn't the worst thing and then some outfits and music were changed for being too sexy
>Episode was removed almost everywhere and hard to find online.
It's right here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IQmuU1KnDs and that scene is at 11:12
Oh dvd and a new hd version was made. 4kids changed it to her voice sounding bad but if they added a scene where she feels better or something it wouldn’t be as mean. Also the stormy one wow though
>substantial portion of Japanese children experience seizures watching this. >American news covers this >they PLAY THE FRICKING CLIP unaltered >causing it to become way worse than it would’ve been if left alone.
Gets me every time.
Porygon is cool (and Porygon2 + Eviolite is the most broken shit in the history of Pokemon unless the new gens fixed it; I never played SwSh and haven't been assed to finish SV)
arthur had like 2, i ain't saying it was the most controversial cartoon moments of all time, but it's up there, and beside, most cartoon controversies run out of steam after a few months, because there fricking cartoons. the gay wedding, and buster's postcards from you had a lesbian couple, which is less known.
if the epsidoe doesn't involve lengthy and graphic pedophilia, it isn't controversial
calling anything with made up religions controversial is just moronic, no one with full mental faculties wouldn't be offended by it
Way to miss the point of the thread dumbass.
You say that as if lot of religions didn't involve pedohpilia.
you know charlie hebdo literally got beheaded over this, right?
Charlie Hebdo is a magazine, not a person.

"controversial" doesn't mean "in my opinion" but how it is received by the general audience, you dumb frick
Redditors
Im guessing this didnt air just because CN feared any tiny bit of outrage that might happen
You could've also just mentioned the 11 cartoons that were banned half a century ago.
Yeah but in that instance its not only banned cartoons but the special itself wasnt aired so its a double whammy.

Ever new episode of Clone High, i just hope to see his beautiful smile again
Even if he just gets one fricking line in a later season please god
if he ever gets added back he won't be voiced by michael mcdonald, so i'm kinda glad he skipped out this season
What did michael say he isnt planning to voice him again if he did return? The only actor they changed was Cleo i thought.
and cleo was changed for apu reasons, which means
The creators don't want white people voicing characters of color. They're still planning to do a new character for McDonald to voice.

The deleted scene of squidward being set on fire cause of 9/11 happening
The episode premiered after 9/11
Do you think cartoon episodes poof out of existence?
The original pilot for DHMIS was so bad they went back to the drawing board for the final show and never showed or re-released the pilot ever again
How is that controversial?
It delayed the show because the fan reception at the screening and production itself was not doing too hot.
I think they themselves were just dissatisfied because they said they made the humor too American and not British. Of the clips leaked online the audience was laughing and receiving it well
Wait, really?
>Boston bomb scare set fire to CN/AS overnight
>Make an episode about it
>Never air it and it gets leaked anyway
Honestly you could pick anything from the powerpuffs reboot and id consider it controversial
What did he do? I forgot
Is a trans allegory or something. Never unserstand it very well
Somebody looked these characters and names and said "this would make good enby representation".
Somebody thought enby's needed representation
I don't hate Blacks, i just prefer white women.
