What are your hopes for future DC comics based games?
Do you think the Wonder Woman game will live up to the hype?
Some have been hits like Injustice 2 and Multiversus and other like Suicide Squad and Gotham Knights were flops.
I'd love to see the Watchmen in video games. Imagine if we got Rorsach and Dr. Manhattan DLC for Suicide Squad!
Its amazing how many billions of dollars CEOs and stupid executives have blown chasing after life service money.
Nobody wants to play live service games. Telling people your game is live service kills it.
imo the problem is you need to convince people to abandon the 2/3 live service games they are already playing and invested money into.
If you're already playing Call of Duty and Fortnite
or Warframe with your bros and invested a bunch of time and money unlocking guns and skins, why would you drop one of them for Suicide Squad or another mediocre copycat.
They're all looking at all the gacha games that are super popular in Asia, forgetting WHY those games are popular to begin with.
It's not because they're live service games.
one would think that a movie studio with ALL those properties wouldnt have problem to create some gacha waifu rpg. hell! the DC universe alone is filled to the brim with easily exploitable waifu material.
not only that! the chinese ACTUALLY made a waifu gacha game based in fricking Tom and Jerry of all the things! approved by the WB themselves! so its not like they dont know how to make profitable live service games.
I think it's just because they're not allowed to show sexy women and hot blooded violence (both things that attract young men). Both things that anime games are allowed to do.
Frick one the reasons why MK is still successful today despite everything else crashing down is because it's gore porn plus lore and world building.
>Its amazing how many billions of dollars CEOs and stupid executives have blown chasing after life service money.
How do these people have jobs when any frickface here or on Cinemaphile can do their job better? I don’t get it
>WB Games deserves to die at this point.
Zaslav tried to sell the branch (the staff) without the ips stating they’d still own everything attached to them and the industry laughed at him. Greedy merchant at its finest.
CEOs are fricking worthless. Hit products happen in spite of them not because of them.
this
>mfw all CEOs are convinced they have to follow steve jobs step by step, ignoring the fact steven jobs himself hated CEO's corporate way of doing things
Tons of people want to play live service games. The problem is that they only want to play 1-3 of them and aren't interested in another one unless they get fed up with their existing time sinks. It's just the MMO conundrum again. Businesses want to occupy those audience rent spots and don't want their competitors to rake in all that low-effort holding pattern money, but breaking through is excessively risky.
The problem is that there is only a certain group that is willing to play them. And they all flock to a single, maybe two games at the most. Then abandon one and go to the next big thing.
The market is not really capable of handling several live service games just like it is not capable of handling several MMOs or several MOBAS because it's one specific core group of people playing them at a time.
CEOs don't get this shit. They think they can endlessly churn out shitty half assed live service games forever and make endless money.
Sounds awful.
WB Games deserves to die at this point.
I can see Injustice 3 happening out of desperation. And it will have lots of useless accessories, bullshit in-game currency, terrible story, ugly female characters, and lame DLC characters choices.
so MK1 with DC characters... so literally MK1
I still have no idea how Mortal Kombat still manages to sell so well despite the gameplay being ass, are fatalities seriously that much of a draw?
That and the story.
MK has existed since the 90s, and it was the ONLY AMERICAN Fightan franchise that managed to stood against the monopoly Street Fighter 2 and Fatal Fury had on the arcade scene. the fatalities and violence were a good reason, but not the only one.
the story was also a good reason since it tried to be this big epic about this war between 2 worlds and how a handful of warriors from both worlds have been able to change its course. no other fightan franchise has tried to do that. and if they did, they truly took their time.
Not to mention. Mortal Kombat is one of those series that dedicates itself to waking up your inner 13 year old.
It has Ninjas, tacticool spec ops, martial arts action guys, cyborgs ferocious monsters, zombie people, evil magic guys and angry gods and (by MK10) a fricking cowboy and it never tried to be meta about it.
The gameplay was always shit compared to Street Fighter, but it knew how to make itself engaging.
> The gameplay was always shit compared to Street Fighter
Lol
Forgive him, he’s new to MK. It’s better to say that the series turned to shit, not that it was always shit.
SF beat MK to that milestone, they haven’t had a passable game since they stopped doing Alpha.
MK was always shit, anon.
Thank you for your Mr. Wizard sponsored opinion, anon.
Thank you for crying real tears over it, b***h.
Gameplay has actually improved a lot
>Makes lives service game
>One of the biggest flops of all times
>Let's make more
Is Warner moronic?
They are desperate for money and scamming people out of it.
Every corporation, by definition.
So they’re going to be making trash?
I read comics, I don't play video games
Wrong board
/MVSG/ BROS ?
get ur therad copypasta ready bros
Are they intentionally trying to get a different audience from the like cinematic single player playstation stuff? Or are they just stupid
No, the triple A bubble is about to pop because they keep pricing the audience out of existence and they're looking for ways to reliably keep people coming.
>pricing out of existence
do you understand how math works
>What are your hopes
That WB is sold piecemeal and some crazy rich c**t buys the game rights to the DC characters to personally fund a studio.
Realistically WB games will continue to spend hundreds of millions of dollars building shit games with terrible monetization until they come crashing down and some other equally giant and equally shit publisher like EA or Ubisoft buys their rights
>That WB is sold piecemeal and some crazy rich c**t buys the game rights to the DC characters to personally fund a studio.
Wish granted but Bandai Namco buys it
>The next piece of crap spike-chun squeezes out has Superman in it next to Goku and Naruto
>Do you think the Wonder Woman game will live up to the hype?
it CAN live up to zero hype
What exactly happened with multiversus
I hate the present.
>hey why try to craft one good thing into a one time purchase for millions of people, when we can dupe them into paying for the same shitty thing over and over and over?
>What are your hopes for future DC comics based games?
They will continue to flop.
>Do you think the Wonder Woman game will live up to the hype?
No. WW is a boring character and has no memorable arc like Batman or Green Lantern.
>Some have been hits like Injustice 2 and Multiversus and other like Suicide Squad and Gotham Knights were flops.
Injustice was years ago.
>I'd love to see the Watchmen in video games. Imagine if we got Rorsach and Dr. Manhattan DLC for Suicide Squad!
You already got a Watchman and it was not good.
I want them to make a The Batman (2004) game. Just a fairly typical superhero game in the style of the old Arkham games. Seeing as Kevin Conroy has now passed away they should dip their toes into other interpretations of the characters and basing it off one of the other animated series could be work. They're a lot of interesting stuff that series does that could lend itself to a game and I'd like to see them reintroduce Ellen Yin and make her a love interest. Also there should be a twist near the end of the game where Robin, who has been absent for most of the game, shows up and has brought his team which is revealed to be the 2003 Teen Titan cast.
Do you think WB and SONY's layoffs have anything to do with Sweet Baby Inc? I hope ties are being cut
No it's industry wide (in the west). It's more due to (western) gaming companies treating themselves like tech companies, them over extending during the pandemic, bad financial decisions and a general attempt to fallow industry trends which is laying people off.
I've always wanted a Fourth World fighting game. But I've evolved from wanting a Capcom-style 1 on 1 tournament game like Marvel Superheroes, to prefering a musou-style over the top combat experience spanning a universe. It would be so awesome, but we'll never see this.
>WB: How do we grow WB Games and take it to new heights?
>Exec: Hogwarts Legacy was very successful, so let's make more games like it...
>WB: And?
>Exec: Then we remove the element that made Hogwarts successful by turning all of them into a live service.
>WB: Why?
>Exec: Because each individual game becomes a subscription service, just like Max and Netflix. We'll keep making money month after month.
>WB: But doesn't that mean people will only get two or three games at most? Ever since the pandemic ended, people have dropped multiple streaming services.
>Exec: *taps a metal suitcase covered in biohazard labels*
>WB: You're getting a raise.
make a flash game in the style of sonic. that's the only way I'll forgive warner bros.
