Franklin
Franklin was the shit. I pirated the entire series and all the movies...cuz Nelvana and Cookie Box are apparently too moronic to release a complete series dvd set.
i vaguely remember an episode where they played into the fact that all the other characters were just named after whatever animal they were and some teacher called franklin "turtle"
That was Ms. Koala in "Back To School With Franklin" (Like I said, I have and love the whole series. Franklin and Friends can eat shit, though.). She had no way of knowing. Mr. Owl didn't have a student roll for some reason, and she'd noticed that Fox was named Fox, Beaver was named Beaver, so she was like "OOOOOH, I see what this is." and guessed wrong on Franklin.
I remember both of these cartoons. Franklin’s theme is so comfy, “HEY, IT’S FRANKLIN!”
Used to watch littel bear and franklin all the time, they're a little boring now but still peak comfy. Plus the animation was really nice
Peak Nelvana
>Peak Nelvana
What is with Nelvana and bears? It's one thing to have a polar bear logo, but George Lucas picked them to make Ewoks (1985-6), The Care Bears got moved from DiC to them, they took over the Berenstain Bears in 2003, Little Bear...
>Peak Nelvana
Nah, that would be their late 70s/early 80s pre-sellout days.
I remember Little Bear and i wouldn't mind seeing it again after 20+ years, pretty sure it's why i associate the sound of a cello with log cabins (or was it a bass?)
Remember Franklin too, didn't like it as much though.
The only thing of even marginal worth that cuck jenkins made.
Hey screw you, Franklin and Little Bear were great
i remember it more because one of those 'activity center' CD-rom that i had than the show
only thing i remember is that one scene where one of the girls gets their bikini torn off by a wave
I was just about to post that homie, honestly the books were more memorable.
Why was Franklin like the only character with an actual name? Bear the Bear, Beaver the Beaver, Rabbit the Rabbit, Franklin.
I remember all three of these show and loved them, frick you.
I WAS born in '99, so you might be onto something, however.
Screw you guys, I loved both of these when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I don’t remember too many specifics about them, but I do remember I had a Franklin board game.
Don’t disrespect Franklin like that. That Christmas episode where his grandpa gets hurt or something was the saddest moment to my little kid mind.
in the recent CGI reboot his "granny" was replaced with a younger "aunt" cause either she died or they want to cater to kids who dont hang on their granny... not sure
also the OG series pissed me off when they got rid of otter, basically having her "move away" and only made one appearance later on in one episode where she came to visit.
Back when I was in high school I had a sleepover and one of the girls there was talking about remembering a halloween episode or something from this show and went on her laptop to find out if it was real and she refused to watch a movie or play video games or do anything with the rest of us until she did.
So somebody did give a frick about it.
Are you a femanon, or were you having sleepovers as a high school boy with girls?
Femanon. Everyone else was getting real sick of her that night. But I do miss those days, we used to hang out a lot
While she probably annoyed you at the time, it's kind of a sweet memory in hindsight.
Mind posting a little snippet of your cleavage for me ma'am?
Go wank to sissy hypno.
Already have, twice today
Rikki-Tikki-Tavi
Had the animated movie on VHS when i was really young, i liked it, but there was something eerie about it all, a kind of feeling i get from a lot of cartoons and movies made before the 80's. Also
>If he moves i will strike
>and if he does not move i will strike
Wtf are cobras such dicks?
Barely remember it, pretty sure i watched it the day i got my sega genesis (with TTA: Buster's Hidden Treasure)
>Wtf are cobras such dicks?
Their family was being threatened by complete outsiders.
I found that VHS on top of someone's garbage can along with a copy of The Velveteen Rabbit, Franklin's Valentine, The Best Of Franklin, all shrink-wrapped. Yes, I DID pick them up.
Mother Bear was the only reason I watched it. Friggin' milf. And the theme song was great. The first one, not that shit second one with the french horn (what were they THINKING?)
>little bear
Maybe it was just a weird nothing cartoon oddly enough my only memories of this cartoon are just from one of my music teachers playing an episode of it once for some reason when I was in like 1st or 2nd grade and I think I saw one episode or something when I was like 3
>Franklin
Nah people care about that series it’s just one of those ones where there’s not much to talk about and I think it’s seen as like a diet arthur or something
>pb&j otter
A handful of spergs really care about it hell my low verbal (had to specify since im on Cinemaphile so it’s not like I’m not an autist) autistic brother likes all three of those shows
>flub
This one might actually be accurate I’ve never heard of this
>rikki tikki tavi
The book it’s based on is one of those books they have you read in Ela as a kid (at least I did in like the very beginning of 7th grade or something for whatever reason) so I feel like people at least kind of know about the property
>stoked
From what I’ve seen spergs that’re nostalgic for 2008 and shit like the nood ads care about it
Excuse you watch Little Bear all the time especially if I’m having an anxiety attack.
Age regression is a kink
Little Bear is one of my favorite cartoons to fall asleep to and I don't mean that as a negative
It has a really nice aesthetic to it, snd soothing music, very comfy. I wouldn’t go back to watch it but I appreciate the artistry of how it captured that storybook feeling.
Little bear Franklin and pb&j otter are all just kind of remember by this same short era of people that were toddlers between 1999 and 2001 or something
I left Nick Jr running in the back as background noise as a teen when nothing else was on.
What channels were these shows on? I was born in 96 and remember all 3 half-decently, I think PBS was the only channel my parents would put on for us at the time.
Also pic related, anyone remember this shit? The theme song randomly pops into my head occasionally
I thought that was a porn drawing
Little Bear and Franklin aired on Nickelodeon, while PB&J Otter aired on Disney Channel. Both networks had preschool blocks
iirc there's an autist on DA that is obessed with that dude with a rectangular head
>there's an autist on DA
You don't say.
Does anyone remember Rupert or Girl stuff/boy stuff?
Yes, I actually do posted this same pic in the Canadian thread earlier this week. I hated this show so much I still have the song rutabaga pudding stuck in my head.
Born in 77, and these shows were my first discovery when we finally got cable.
I don't even know how I remembered Papa Beaver's Story Time.
There was another one like this about 2 gnomes that read stories. At the end they would for some reason go to bed in this weird cubbor they had.
What were they thinking?
There was an annoying guy from my school that I always though looked like these guys.
Oh frick I had forgotten about it
rupert
i don't think i've ever seen anyone talk about it online.
The lady who wrote the hunger games also wrote this show.
Weird.
oh so that's why it sucks
the hunger games books are fantastic as far as ya goes
it's just a dumber version of Battle Royale
I'll say this is forgotten because I legit can't remember the show name and I can't find it looking it up. I think it was a kids cartoon that aired in the early 2000s, but there was a show about animated turtle show, that WASN'T Franklin. Had a completely different art style, I think it starred 2 turtles? All I know for sure is there was a character named Myrtle the Turtle. I can't find the actual show looking up the name online, because it's got a lot imitators it seems. I know for sure there was a character named that, because my mom would call me "Myrtle the Turtle" when I was being too slow growing up. If anyone knows I'd appreciate at least the show name.
Don't know, but here's what I found that's one step closer.
Ok, I think it's here:
Winter Adventures of the Gnomes
https://www.filmpro.ru/movies/37204
Here's a youtube channel that has them
https://www.youtube.com/@davidthegnome7800/playlists
Supposedly it's ep 20, but It's on kid's mode so the video doesn't highlight the most watched section.
What style was the show animated in? Claymation, cgi?
It was 2D, I'm sure of that. I thought it was PBS kids but looking at their wiki I can't find anything that fits.
I'm operating on flashes in my memory but the closest thing that comes to mind is something that looked like Little Bear? Like, kinda lankey anthrphomoric turtles in 2D, that walk on 2 legs. That's less clear to me in my mind, the only thing I'm certain of is there was a turtle in it named Myrtle. They might have been the main character, they might not I dunno.
you're not thinking of Yertle the Turtle are you?
I don't think so, if so my mom mixed a whole of things up. It was definitely Myrtle that she called me, maybe she mixed up that and Franklyn, thinking that was his name. I'm not finding anything online, so maybe I'm just crazy.
Do you remember the other characters from the show?
No. I think there was a mom, but I might just be misremembering and mixing it up with Franklin.
The commercial where he shills toothpaste is burned into memory, and surely someone else remembers too
LITTLE BEAYH
I GOTS YA TOOFPASTE
OWAJEL TWAINING TOOFPASTE
Very good!
Why did they use him when the show had been off the air for years?
frick you moron
fat dog
OP is a nihilist. This was an innocent comfy cartoon. I'm lucky to be born in 1992 and to experience the golden age of nick jr. My early childhood was kino and ended around late 2000, then everything was ruined after 9/11.
Is he wrong though?
>then everything was ruined after 9/11.
When the Fire Nation attacked.
Everything's Rosie, I remember hating this show, even as a kid
I remember there was this little bear tooth paste commercial that still aired many years after the show ended and went off the air i remember it airing as late as 2012
LITTLE BEAR!
This show had some legitimately great music and animation for such a simple concept.
>shitting on Little Bear of all things
This is the literal perfect cartoon for young children. It has while also having such a good pace that it only lasts as long as it needs to. I believe if you have a problem with something this pure you're possessed by some kind of demonic entity.
Little Bear should get skinned by a Mexican cartel
I don't remember much, but I was always kinda weirded out that Little Bear didn't wear any clothes while his Mom did.
While *I* was disappointed. Sometimes her clothes hit just right and you could tell she had my favorite 2 "T's": triceps and ta-tas.
>Little Bear didn't wear any clothes
thats not a bad thing
Discovery Kids felt like such a weird channel to me, but I remember a ton of shows from it. I had a crush on that girl as well as Creepie from Growing up Creepie.
I liked this show. And Tutenstein. And Time Warp Trio. And the girl gave me a fetish for asians.
I remember and give a frick about these, watched them alot as a kid
Here's how fricked this show is. I went to search "Miss Spider's Sunnypatch Friends" and this is the image. Aparrently no one can decide if it's Sunnypatch FRIENDS or Sunnypatch KIDS.
The writing and voice acting were decent, even though it looked like nightmare fuel.
Little Bear is great and has a fun cast. Wasn’t there a girl among the animals who had a doll with her?
Emily?
Kipper is GOAT. I started watching this while in college bc I found it so calm and relaxing. Decades later, I introduced it to my daughter and she loved it. Kipper is based af.
The episode where he finds a secret door in his house while changing the wallpaper really stuck with me for some reason. The idea of finding a secret like that hidden in your own home fascinated me as a kid.
I don't know what you would call a show like this. It was similar to Arthur, where it's just an inoffensive pre K show that doesn't REALLY teach lessons. Outside of the memes this show is not that good or memorable. I would rather watch Clifford, Arthur, George Shrinks or whatever.
It gets easier the farther back in time you go, right?
I have recently watched the entire Little Bear series (and movie) because I have a young daughter and only let her watch "safe" (no degenerate elements) media. Really good show for little kids. Very gentle, cute, wholesome. Last season kind of sucks but little kids don't pick up on a dip in quality in shows.
Little Bear was alright.
The new Mega Man game is looking great.
I remember the Toothpaste commercial more than the actual show.
Little Bear was comfy as frick. What the frick is wrong with you zoomers?
Did anyone actually like this show? I remember it would air a lot, and then it was just gone. It wasn't even necessarily "bad," but it couldn't hold my interest.
Your standard zany dad, useless daughter, mom, and generic mc kid.
I thought it wasn't bad, it was certainly better than the other slop they had on at the time. Always remember the episode where the dad has a toothache because I was home from school vomitting while watching it on TV.
Little shit grew up to plagiarize manga.
This made me remember a different show about a little bear. Rupert, anyone saw it?
Watched it all a year or so ago while previewing for my little lad. Really enjoyed it as a kid myself too.
could someone make an adam sandler's edit out of this?
I'll never forget it.
