The era of /MLP/ was the greatest era of the internet and 4chins. So many stupid drawings, green texts and fun. I miss that shit.
Even fan created characters had their own individual fandoms with their own fics, art, ask blogs, videos, Longform cyoas, and animations during the peak of MLP, and the embers of which still happen online today. I don't think I've ever witnessed and been a part of such autistic and laboured devotion to something in all my life. Over fricking cartoon PONIES.
My little prison and thingpone threads were the shit. You'll never be an inmate in a prison where guards are horrified if you get a little bobo and give you candies and hugs to heal you and that's why real life is gay.
Van Gogh in Clone High. When tiktoks discovered the show, they latched onto him even though he had like three lines and four minutes of total screentime.
Most artists made a side account to post their art bcause it was pretty cringe to like the movie
And most movie fandoms don't last long so when they lost interest they just deleted their account
I'd imagine a fair few villains fall into this.
Amon, for example. Nox had decent-ish screentime I guess. Not as much as other characters (many episodes just don't feature him, but he has a few episodes), but still hasn't been around for a long time and is still Wakfu's best villain.
The definition of this. To the point where every iteration of him afterwards prominently made him a main character and even cut out the Maitland's in the cartoons case.
Yeah I saw the cartoon first as a kid, so I assumed he was the main focus of the movie, even if I heard he was the villain in that.
But he's barely in the movie. It's like 40% the dead couple, 25% afterlife bureaucracy, 25% Lydia and her problems not related to Beetlejuice, then 10% Michael Keaton one liners. He barely feels like a character, just a needed final hurdle for the story to get over.
boba fette literally had like 2 minutes of screen time and died like a b***h. He was supposed to just be a joke character. This super scary bounty hunter who dies in literally 2 seconds.
His first appearance was in the Holiday Special though so if you were a fan from the very beginning, you'd have a different idea of the character than somebody watching the films from years later.
All printing paper is dogshit that's why there is a gap between really old books that are immaculate to more modern books which are well preserved and anything in-between is lost
Countless, one of the most common reasons is that people imagine these characters in a way writing will never live up to. That's why there are also plenty of examples where the more they are used the worse people's perception of them becomes. Boba fett, the Xenomorphs, Galadariel.
Katie Kaboom was based on the daughter of one of the writers so they kept using her. Same way the shows kept using characters voiced by Tom Ruegger's kids like Baby Plucky or The Flame. That kid that told those rambling stories about his friend was played by a producer's kid as well.
Unfortunately, Raine Whispers. Outside of Cinemaphile he's actually very popular and I do NOT understand it. It would seem like everyone was doing a bit except it's too consistent and too sincere so I just have to conclude that I simply don't understand it and never will.
I can't tell if they're FTM or MTF, all I know is I can't stand their face or their voice or the fact the show desperately wanted you to know them and like them without doing anything to make that the case. Literally every other character had multiple discrete episodes to build characterization and give you reasons to like them, and then at the eleventh hour a new character shows up and everyone looks to the camera and goes "You like this person. We're all very impressed with them, and so by extension you should also be impressed with them. You like them now." and it all just felt so tiresomely unearned, like it felt like the show was better than that until it wasn't
literally only like 2 versions of her show up often enough to warrant their popularity. Her BB movie self is the most egregious of all. 15-20 seconds, 2 lines at best, and yet get more merch and toys then either the main villains.
Sneed
how the frick did this post get ignored
Everyone knows, it's the Simpsons and it was a rather forced meme
?t=6
The Cabbage man from avatar.
I think every fandom has their own character like this
The moon horse.
Technically don't both horses get a lot of time in the comics?
She was already very popular during seasons 1 and 2 with her 2 episodes, well before any comics came around.
True for s1/2 but zombie MLP made Luna about as regular of presence as celesti.
MLP legitmately has fanbases for every single character, no matter if they were a one-off, or a literal background character
There is a fanbase for EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.

>Over fricking cartoon PONIES.
My little prison and thingpone threads were the shit. You'll never be an inmate in a prison where guards are horrified if you get a little bobo and give you candies and hugs to heal you and that's why real life is gay.
>and that's why real life is gay
Amen
yeah, even that apple horse one has a fanbase somehow
Even for the one trick ponies?
Hell even Lee has a fanbase.
Sneed, the "My Leg" guy, and not Cinemaphile but Lana's mom from Pokemon
Darcy
Elsa. She had around 5 or less minutes of combined screentime.
Lobo.
boba fett before disney star wars
Van Gogh in Clone High. When tiktoks discovered the show, they latched onto him even though he had like three lines and four minutes of total screentime.
I'm actually surprised Gogh wasn't added to the main cast for s2 given he's zoomer favorite
Deleted or just forgotten?
Deleted
What's the story begind that
Most artists made a side account to post their art bcause it was pretty cringe to like the movie
And most movie fandoms don't last long so when they lost interest they just deleted their account
Ah gotcha
I'd imagine a fair few villains fall into this.
Amon, for example. Nox had decent-ish screentime I guess. Not as much as other characters (many episodes just don't feature him, but he has a few episodes), but still hasn't been around for a long time and is still Wakfu's best villain.
Dimitri Dynamo.
Absolutely none outside of his brief appearance in the second episode.
this shit lookin' like astro boy
Yeah, it takes some inspiration from Tezuka Dimitri being the most obvious one.
>Dimitri Dynamo.
He does have pretty unique design and name.
He does, too bad he gets possessed by a blue elf for the rest of the show.
The definition of this. To the point where every iteration of him afterwards prominently made him a main character and even cut out the Maitland's in the cartoons case.

The Twinkie in Sausage Party had a screentime of around one minute and got the most fanart
>Sausage Party fanart
I wasn't aware that even existed
There was a decent amount of fanart but most of it got deleted off the internet
My favorite star wars characters are aliens that got usually 2 seconds of screen time
This guy right here is my absolute favorite SW character.
boba fette literally had like 2 minutes of screen time and died like a b***h. He was supposed to just be a joke character. This super scary bounty hunter who dies in literally 2 seconds.
you can fill this thread with just star wars characters
His first appearance was in the Holiday Special though so if you were a fan from the very beginning, you'd have a different idea of the character than somebody watching the films from years later.
Peni Parker in spiderverse movies
I go even further and say the Lego Spiderman from the ATSV.
He has even less screentime and a surge of popularity for some fricking reason.
Boba Fett
Darth Vader had very little screen time in the original movie
Why do they make books that big? They always end up breaking if you aren't autistically careful with them
Why not print it in two tomes instead?
They don't break if the binding and paper aren't dogshit
All printing paper is dogshit that's why there is a gap between really old books that are immaculate to more modern books which are well preserved and anything in-between is lost
Any IDW Sonic OC.
Unless it's Tangle, Whisper or Surge
Tak.
a lot of rwby characters
2099 Spider-Man in the new movie
If you count HH as a part of Helluva boss.
Can't believe he's trapped in a prologue of a show that's never coming.
You could post all HH characters
I have a soft spot for Angel.
Countless, one of the most common reasons is that people imagine these characters in a way writing will never live up to. That's why there are also plenty of examples where the more they are used the worse people's perception of them becomes. Boba fett, the Xenomorphs, Galadariel.
Only appears in two episode and makes a cameo in the finale
Boba fett
Just a few short seconds of screentime was enough to fuel the R34 machine.
Pello Scrambas.
Tak
Numberless
This one is the strangest to me since it’s
1. Not a cute girl
2. Not a cool, memorable design
What is this from?
Infinity Train, guy is a background character
All the jokes TLW calls villains
>Literally 5 seconds
Also, obvious one.
From a one-off character to the company's mascot
Whoopsy daisy
Appears in one episode out of 26 yet is one of the most popular/merchandised character along with the main trio
God evangelion fricking sucks
Not Cinemaphile you fricking moronic dipshit
Wrong board
I swear that episode in particular felt like it got imidiatly retconned after or halfway through production because it made no fricking sense
Considering they had to rewrite the second half of the show after a Japanese Terrorist attack I can believe you.
jackie lynn thomas
Squirrel from Sword in the Stone
Mrs. Katswell
Jasper, Lapis Lazuli
Peni Parker in Spiderverse
Spinel in Steven Universe
Minerva Mink.
I did not expect her only having 2 episodes
She was used a lot more in the comics than on the show.
How the frick does she have fewer appearances than Katie Kaboom
Katie Kaboom was based on the daughter of one of the writers so they kept using her. Same way the shows kept using characters voiced by Tom Ruegger's kids like Baby Plucky or The Flame. That kid that told those rambling stories about his friend was played by a producer's kid as well.
Almost every character in Homestuck
Unfortunately, Raine Whispers. Outside of Cinemaphile he's actually very popular and I do NOT understand it. It would seem like everyone was doing a bit except it's too consistent and too sincere so I just have to conclude that I simply don't understand it and never will.
You know why Twitter subhumans love her so much.
I can't tell if they're FTM or MTF, all I know is I can't stand their face or their voice or the fact the show desperately wanted you to know them and like them without doing anything to make that the case. They're "non-binary", aka no one fricking knows what is in their pants.
Twitter is not outside Cinemaphile, anon.
literally only like 2 versions of her show up often enough to warrant their popularity. Her BB movie self is the most egregious of all. 15-20 seconds, 2 lines at best, and yet get more merch and toys then either the main villains.
SEX
It's because her car form looks cool.
The Question in the DCAU
Death straight up
Teal shirt bored clothing store worker. /co was obsessed for the sake of being obsessed. Was a lot of fun.
>One-off parody character for a music-video spinoff episode.
>Kids too young to have watched the original fussing that she's not in the reboot.
same show with about the same screen time, but both have boat load's of art
Dawn from total drama
Tazmanian devil only appeared in 5 shorts out of 1000 looney tunes shorts
Really? That's surprising
Geno
He is just a grumpy lawgay who barely got more screentime than Mallow.
