Was there a single redeemable character in this movie? It's basically 2 hours of buttholes being buttholes to each other. Seriously no one isn't trying to take advantage of another character or just being a jerk for the hell of it the whole runtime.
The colonel who dies in Barry's arms and the charlatan who basically adopts Barry and teaches him how to cheat at cards are both worthy and have the same single solitary flaw
>The colonel tricked Barry into fleeing his home for monetary gain which ruins Barry's life. >Card Cheating guy is literally going around swindling peoples money then threatens people with death by duel if they call him out.
The Chevalier who welcomed Barry with open arms instead of throwing him to the wolves out of paranoia when he finds out Barry was pressed into Prussian service like him.
All my favorite films are 3+ hrs long.
That said, Barry Lyndon is not one of them. It was entertaining but everyone was such a dick, it was hard to relate.
"It was in the reign of George III that the aforesaid personages lived and quarrelled; good or bad, handsome or ugly, rich or poor, they are all equal now"
It's beautifully shot and is slept on as a comedy with the highway robbery scene, the scrap at the British army barracks, Redmond immediately cheating on his wife and indulging his senses once he marries, etc.
As an Englishman I had a good fricking laugh at the Irish father figure's last words being that he'd give him a bigger inheritance if he could, but he lost all his money at cards last night
NASA cameras can be used to make feature films
Fortune's not your woman, it's just your turn
Never, ever trust an Irishman
Luck is the best stat, set it to 10 every time.
Bang your cousin while you can
Stanley Kubrick is a hack
Don't waste time trying to climb the social ladder. It won't lead to fulfillment.
Literally just marry your cousin if you get the chance. Everything went downhill after Barry left her
He couldn't, she was just horny for a fling with him and he wanted a more complete relationship with her, but that wasn't on the cards
broken heart makes men go far away

Yes, their shared flaw is that in trying to bring Barry into adulthood they doom him to repeating their own mistakes
The Chevalier who welcomed Barry with open arms instead of throwing him to the wolves out of paranoia when he finds out Barry was pressed into Prussian service like him.
Barry does the right thing in the end by sparing his stepson, thus he redeemed his soul, not to mention he fought in the war nobly at first
you learned what kino looks like
What color is your skin
poo brown with yellowish green highlights, like an almost ripe banana
Interesting, the person I know who loves this movie most is Vietnamese
Never marry a single mother
Anyone watch the music video for this?
don't let a woman rejecting you turn you into a bitter butthole
that its the best movie of all time, Barry's arc is as good as they come

are you by any chance living in some fairy world?
Live, love, cry
says alot about you that you've seen thousands of movies and yet Barry Lyndon isn't good to you
"It was in the reign of George III that the aforesaid personages lived and quarrelled; good or bad, handsome or ugly, rich or poor, they are all equal now"
Pure kino
why are they equal? did they all become communists? was that in part 2?
that quote could be the line thats read to every person when they die its so all encompassing
