1st seasons was based 2nd season was Black person
>shill for any seasons of this shitshow
It was trash since S1, there were never more than 20-30 people on screen at any given moment even during the major battle sequences and the small-scale, community theater approach was such a disservice for one of the most epic moments in Roman war history. Frick right off.
usual Netflix shit
>le strong wamen
>civilized white guys bad
>medbugs
>white
HAHAHAHAHA
Post hand Ranjeesh
Season 1 was okay.
Started season 2 and one episode in you could already know it went off the rails, so I dropped it. Suddenly the Germanic tribes are these peaceful people in touch with wonder and nature but also the most badass warriors ever and the romans are all cartoonishly evil and incompetent.
Show used to have nuance.
>romans dumb, weak and evil
>germanic tribes good, strong and smart
Typical germanic propaganda
That's factually correct though
They weirdly make a big deal of forcing people to "kiss" the eagle standard, that never happened and they are probably just taking that from like the HBO show Rome.
>they are probably just taking that from like the HBO show Rome.
They should have taken a couple things more, like good acting and writing
>like good acting and writing
You're asking a little much from a netflix show.
the Latin while not perfect was awesome
they really fricked up with the second season
they hyped his brother just to be a loser homo
I stopped watching the first season when the Roman dude betrayed and killed his soldiers for a bunch of savage Germanic dickheads, I was like come on man this is bullshit, doesn’t make any sense.
Kek.
Unless you're serious, if so, wow. For those of you who don't know, that is the one historical fact of the show.
is this about tuetoberg forest?
Because if so yes the roman legion was betrayed by a "roman" who was actually a descendant of the barbarians but brought up as roman
I forget names
Arminius.
You mean Hermann
In the second season it became Asterix, only they forgot to put in the jokes.
Binged the first episode, I noticed in the Teutoburg forest where the romans were ambushed the romans were in full armor, this wasn't the case because on long marches they would not be wearing full gear, it's more cinematic though so they showed fully geared roman soldiers. Then the barbarians just kind of walk into the roman camp and steal an eagle standard like capture the flag or something and walk out with it which was kind of stupid, they only got the standards after their victory at Teutoburg, those among a bunch of other things.
It's probably fine and I like the latin, but it also seems to be very historically inaccurate aside from names, obviously because they are making a show and not a documentary though.
Weren't roman soldiers expected to carry their own equipment since the Marian reforms
Yeah, Marius did have them carry more, and that was also for trying to get his army into shape where they would carry more than they had before so they could reduce the side of the baggage train and be more mobile, but this was a longer march (through a forest when the legion is use to fighting on a flat plain) and they were not expecting to get attacked so a lot of their heavy armor was on the baggage train. They would still carry their weapons and shields and other supplies, but they wouldn't be doing a long march in full heavy armor.
weren't they side-questing on the way to fight some village?
Yeah, it was essentially a 3 month expedition to kind of exert control over the tribes, but they weren't fighting continually throughout and a lot of these were individual villages not a united so burning or subjugating a town was not much of a problem. They also had to travel through dense forests and marshes so it was a slow process, where they likely had to build roads on the way for resupply. Varus was also an idiot, but it was not really practical to have your men marching for long periods of time in full armor as they still used baggage trains as well.
the nude wedding was hot
Modernist misinterpretation of history
>Season 2
>Set in the 1st century
>Strong black woman
>"I'm from Carthage."
Did that really happen? Carthage was destroyed like 150 years ago at that point.
milenial women got their filithy hands on the second season so it turned to shit, aparently.
everyone saw it coming anyway.
>stick woman manhandling buff legionnaires
feminist garbage
Garbage written like a cheap broadcast tv. It features your beloved broadcast tv cliches like "linger on actor face before commercial break", love triangles, and more.
Basically this. The only things it got remotely right was having the characters speak Latin and German but even then it was shitty Latin and modern German so they might as well have just spoken English.
It's such an amateurish take on the events that at no point do you ever feel the gravitas of what's happening.
>German tribe is full of fat asses who are "hungry"
>Epic woman warrior
I didn't make it past the 1st episode
