I like it. It's a solid 4/10 but I wish there was more Finn in it. It deserves to bomb with the false advertisement

      What's the false advertisement?

        Anonymous

Half of the ads were focused on Finn's character even though he's in it for like 2 or 3 scenes. I reckon even Podcast had more presence than him

The only people who still care about Ghostbusters are millennials soys and Finn Wolfhard fans so it was marketed heavily toward them

The ending is such a rushed mess. The whole "ice age" lasted for like 5 minutes only set in the firehouse. Even the OG had a big scale. All the released ghosts were never addressed. Frick it

    >hes unleashing an army of ghosts
Not a single scene of this, just a wide shot of NYC with ghosts flying around and the end battle is in the garage of the fire house
    EPIC

      Anonymous

yeah what happened to all those ghosts at the end? Did they just get sucked back into the firehouse underground contraption? What happened to Slimer? Did Finn finally bust it? I have so many questions

        Anonymous

I think they all got loose, so this could easily lead into a new series of movies or a show about recapturing all the free ghosts.

      >the end battle is in the garage of the fire house
They did a photoshoot of the old timers in the garage armed with proton packs. I thought it looked absurd. And suspected since they built the set, they'll be spending a lot of time there.

Interestingly they share some of the same problems. Bloated cast, too many characters doing side quests and they’re all separated for the most runtime.

If you go to Dan Aykrod's IMDB. He has twelve writing credits since the turn of the millennium. All of them are Ghostbusters related. He's credited are all: 'based on characters created by' or 'based on the 1984 film "Ghostbusters" written by'. Either in these sequels, the video games or fanfic films. His IMDB literally lists Ghostbuster fan films. It's sad. For a man who had so much juice in Hollywood in the '80s and '90s. Writing and starring in movies.

Nothing but Trouble probably killed his career. Not just because it was a flop and the studios got mad at him, but he probably suffered a lot. He moved on to vodka and house of blues so I think he hasn't really tried writing much

Owning a heap of Ghostbusters toys was an '80s kids thing. I hope he saved the cash, because I doubt they're selling like they used to

He claimed he literally had to borrow from his kid's college fund to pay to set up his vodka business. He might have made more money off his vodka then he did ghostbusters

its good vodka too, good for him. he should write books i think, landis had to trim blues brother's original script, and ramis had to do the same with ghostbusters first draft, nothing but trouble was a glimpse into his outlandish mind and i want to know more

            Anonymous

Wasn't his first draft like hundreds of pages and included parenthetical things like the technical specifications of proton packs and paranormal myths? I'm sure I heard that somewhere.

yeah pretty much. this is what reitman said
              >It was set in the future...and it took place on a number of different planets or dimensional planes. And it was all action. There was very little character work in it. The Ghostbusters were catching ghosts on the very first page — and doing it on every single page after that — without respite, just one sort of supernatural phenomenon after another. By the 10th page, I was exhausted. By the 40th or 50th page — however many there were — I was counting the budget in hundreds of millions of dollars
              >Aykroyd's central premise revolved around an opening to another dimension that flooded the world with hordes of ghosts, and in reaction, multiple teams of "ghost smashers," both heroic and nefarious, went into business to combat the threat. Despite the inclusion of familiar elements, however, the differences between Aykroyd's original vision and the final film were stark. What would become one of cinema's most iconic vehicles, the Ectomobile was painted black and could "dematerialize," while the character that evolved into Slimer was dubbed "onion-head." And instead of incarcerating their trapped ghosts in a New York City fire station, the smashers held their paranormal prisoners in a New Jersey gas station that would ultimately explode and create a giant sinkhole. Despite being in the script, the villainous Gozer took on a variety of appearances, including that of an old man donning a suit and a large-scale, monstrous figure. And instead of a climactic battle atop a towering building, the script ended with its heroes transported to another dimension.

Agree, I'm a huge Aykroyd fan and I was impressed by his acting here. He's been phoning it in for decades, including Afterlife tbh, but he was actually good here. The thought that it might be because many of Ray's lines are things he has probably said irl crossed my mind.
I hope I can give the man a grandkid so he can tell him ghost stories

One thing I dont get is why they keep the Cadillac. I know it's an iconic movie vehicle and you need it for posters and all that, but if Winston is a millionaire that can build a whole lab, he can buy a new subaru station wagon or something, a faster, more reliable vehicle

Watchable but sadly ruined by modern crap i have to say kinda enjoy it but the girl is absolutely disgusting and ruins everything if they put the focus in the main story about the king ghost and the frozen age could be great but sadly ends being a zoomer bullshit
