Hardly an insult anymore when Cinemaphile is getting hyped from bottom tier woke trash like Madame Web. If Reddit has The Lighthouse and Cinemaphile has Madame Web, then I'm double soi reddit Black person troony.
I usually don't like directly replying to your types, but the only people who invoke outside sites are migrants from them. There was actual, legitimate grievances between Cinemaphile and Something Awful, but goons were never invoked constantly like some newbie site like reddit is, and the only time it's constantly invoked is from tourist trash like yourself who need to go back and stay.
Really made me like Pattinson
He was great in The Rover too, I still need to see Cosmopolis.
>hamfisted
Not exactly a subtle Prometheus allegory >pretentious
Making a modern film in black and white smells of desperation to be treated as some kind of higher art. Thats how it seems to me, anyway
Doubt. Still the behind the scenes pictures still look great, but I'm not sure it would have been able to capture that grim, foreboding tone the movie has
Eggers is just an autist, and he needed the movie to be in black and white, I highly doubt he sat down and thought it'd be thought of as more artsy if it didn't have color, because nothing about the actual movie is artsy fartsy, it's a way more accessible movie than The Witch.
>highly doubt he sat down and thought it'd be thought of as more artsy if it didn't have color
Probably, but I think those things happen at a sub conscious level >it's a way more accessible movie than The Witch.
Disagree but I like that one too
I agree that making something black and white in an attempt to make something mediocre seem artsy can be cringe. (Like that Bill Burr special f.e.) But here it works really well.
He's a thoroughly mediocre actor who is virtually never the standout performance. Really don't get the hype.
He's like a significantly more talented Keanu Reeves.
I didn't get it on my first watch tbh. Near the end I thought it was something about it being the same person but young and old or something idk. I'll probably give it a second watch.
A24 is the most pretentious dogshit ever, they tease with what could be something with sustenance; but it always turns out to be some art student's gas station burrito of a flick.
Yeah they’re mostly style over substance which, admittedly, is better than the prevailing norm of no style or substance.
That would be excusable if they didn’t pretend to be le super deep master piece
Who else here winslowmoding? >never go outside except for the essential stuff >spend most of the time drinking >furiously jerk off to mermaid figurines
trailer was better than movie itself. i actually liked the aspect ratio and b&w, but the whole movie is like a great idea that wasn't realised as good as it should've been

I haven’t seen anyone here hyped about Madame Web but if they are it’s literally just because breasts
you and I both know why this board likes Madame Web
(ye)

This but it's a case of a broken clock being right twice a day. Sometimes reddit is onto something.
Hamfisted and kinda pretentious, like most A24 quasi-arthouse films, but the interesting visuals and Willems acting make it worth the watch

B&W fits with the setting and narrative
It works for this movie, but I still stand by that point. A similar tone could've been captured without using high contrast black and white
nuh uh
the high contrast black and white gave a very unique atmosphere to the film that blended in perfectly

Lighthouse is a much better shot film than Witch.
Better shot, yes. But the Witch is a better movie.

Sure it's a "gimmick" but I'm pretty sure we can all agree this movie would not have been as good in color.

He hasn't actually seen it
never seen it but based on Cinemaphile discussion it was cringe
I think- OHMYGOD LOIS HE'S COMING RIGHT AT ME
digg: the movie
Funniest shit I’ve seen in ages
Lol why do you keep posting this again and again? This is like the fifth time in two days. We all love it, the media illiterates don't. Move on
Really made me like Pattinson
This and Good Time.
I had to turn Good Time off. I just wasnt feeling miseryslop at the time, maybe I'm just over it entirely.
This
Ya really turned around opinions on him
He's a thoroughly mediocre actor who is virtually never the standout performance. Really don't get the hype.
He's like a significantly more talented Keanu Reeves.
he is actually a talented actor, he just needs a good director
I'm a significantly more talented Keanu Reeves.
Yeah I was also impressed. Elevated him from based Twilight chad to kino pro
was a bit gay
You fond of me bussy, ‘ain’t ye?
really good. should've been set in new zealand though
I wish lighthouse keeper was still a job, I'd do that shit in a heartbeat
Loved Dafoe's performance, Pattinson felt like a rookie though
i loved both
it's my light frick off
A bit on the nose.
kino
any other kino like it?
I didn't get it on my first watch tbh. Near the end I thought it was something about it being the same person but young and old or something idk. I'll probably give it a second watch.
mid, good for an a24 movie
I could watch a movie of hundreds of hours just of Dafoe talking like a sailor.
Why did he do it?
I want to frick a mermaid so bad, bros
coz she's fit init
Not bad but somewhat underwhelming. Probably better than the british version though.
Post the fins.
Why’d ye spill yer beans?
I enjoyed it a lot.
I thought it was hilarious. There's probably some deeper meaning to it but I don't really care.
Underrated masterpiece.

Dafoe is a piece of shit.
You take that back!
trailer was better than movie itself. i actually liked the aspect ratio and b&w, but the whole movie is like a great idea that wasn't realised as good as it should've been
