What’s going to happen when Disney inevitably gets bought out by a trillion dollar tech company? Apple or whoever is not going to keep funding money sinks like Doctor Who and Star Wars. And DW isn’t a merch machine like Star Wars.
Is there ever an expectation of continuity of character between the various Doctors?
Is it like a multiverse situation where they are all the same dude from different realities?
I dont watch Dr. Who so I'm honestly curious
>Docs 1, 2, and 3
The Doctor is essentially Captain Nemo - brilliant, tortured, slightly mad.
He's lived multiple lifetimes which the audience sees as he displays intense wisdom, depth of knowledge, and a strong moral conviction.
There's an air of the public school headmaster about him, the thought of anyone trying to assert authority over him is as absurd as it is amusing. >4th Doctor
Tom Baker was younger than the other actors who played the Doctor.
He did all of the above but was more flippant and quippy, more eccentric in his dress and responses, being so facetious made him very popular with kids in Britain and Ireland.
It took the edge off of the grandfatherly nature of the character.
And it made all the times where he was serious feel that much more "shit just got real". >5, 6, & 7
These really lean into the eccentric side of things.
He's an alien so wouldn't it be fun if he wore a celery stick or a jumper with question marks on it?
The actors were miscast, the scripts were bad, the budgets got slashed, and the tone was all over the place. >8th Doctor
The first "modern" Doctor. A veritable heart-throb.
They try to go back to basics of the first 4 Doctors but he's in an American movie, so there's time for romance and kissing the girl while saving the day. >9th Doc
The show is rebooted and the protagonist is an OC donut steel.
He's a tortured soul because le war but Ecclestone is such a good actor that he can convincingly jump between intense seriousness, irreverence, and a romance subplot. >10 & 11
The frickboi reddit Doctors.
They make childish sounds bc le quirky, they can't get enough of kissing, they do silly dances, they cry about their feelings, they're obsessed with present day Earth above all other locations in time & space.
And then they save the day with a big reddity speech. >12 & 13
Caught between trying to be like the first 4 Doctors but having to appeal to the reboot audience who expects more 10 & 11. >14 & 15
Basically 10 and 11 again.

Frick. I typed all that out only to realise I answered a question you didn't ask.
No, they're not multiversal - it's the same character who undergoes a physical change but keeps their memories/knowledge.
Only the reboot interprets this change in appearance and personality as a death or something to be mourned.

You hate homosexuals, so you hate the show.

Docta Who that homie?
zesty af
Why does a show set in Britain have so many Black folk?
Because ummmm it was always diverse but still racist even though whites were always a minority
Don't forget minorities need to be given a leg up in society but they also always had positions of authority and power in society
This is the same show that claims Isaac Newton was black.
Do BBC execs really think anyone is stupid enough to believe this terrible attempt at revisionism?
just the ones that want to believe it
Count your blessings, we could've seen poos instead.
It's SHIT. Actual SHIT. Unironic SHIT. Literally SHIT.
20 years on and RTD is still putting fart jokes in Doctor Who.
why does he act like a drag queen without a costume
Because he's so gay even his internal parasites are buggers.
There was a blind a while back that was about him where it said he was about to go trans, but then got this job
Doctor gay Nig.
Go woke, go broke.
It's funded by the government and is on Disneybux life support, so this show is going nowhere.

It’s complete and utter garbage. Incidentally, I’ve not seen any Doc Who fanfiction since it’s cancellation after Tenant.

PAGING DOCTOR homosexual
>hard mode: no racism
Its really fricking gay.
Do people actually like Doctor Who naturally or do they froce themselves to get into it to add to their "nerdy/quirky" persona?
They force themselves to get into it to add to their "nerdy/quirky" persona. Or it's the old diehards who just can't quit.
