I fricking wish
that would be unironically kino
Directors who use extra-diegetic licensed songs in their films are almost all hacks. Michael Mann is the only prominent exception I can think of
Different Drum by the Stone Ponies.
More importantly why the frick is this musical shit what they're doing with the Joker sequel? Why the frick did Joker even need a sequel?
It made a billion dollars on less than 100M budget. Of course it would get sequel
>100M
How? 4-5 big names and a few basic ass costumes, barely any sets that aren't exactly scifi.
What, do random extras in the background take 5000$ paychecks for wearing a clown mask for 2 minutes?
Estimated 55-70 million. Making movies is more expensive than you’d think
Again, fricking how? Is it the camera equipment or something?
Look here
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt7286456/fullcredits
That’s close to a thousand people who have to be paid for days or weeks or months or years in some cases. Add in the costs for lighting, cameras, sound equipment, stunt rigging, set construction, transportation, housing for cast and crew, insurance, permits, catering, costumes, makeup, cost of filming in studios, cost of filming on location, editing studios, for months of pre-production, months of principal photography, months of reshoots, months of post-production.
You can't tell me you couldn't have cut down the crew to at least half and still gotten a good movie.
Well in my personal opinion they could’ve doubled the crew and they still wouldn’t have gotten a good movie, but that’s besides the point.
big name actors alone take a significant chunk of the budget
Even accounting for inflation big movies weren’t this expensive years ago
It really isn’t even that expensive
I ran an average walmart and had a 130 million dollar budget for the year
more expensive than it's should*
One of my favorite movie was made with 25k euros
Needing to get all the sets approved and/or constructed from scratch, under labor regulations. Needing to do a bunch of camera, lighting, sound, and editing expenses you don't consciously think about while watching the movie. Needing to compose an original soundtrack and also license Frank Sinatra. Needing to have insurance for everything.
Don't get me wrong there is a lot of bullshit shady Hollywood accounting in it all to give rich-ass producers a nice cut, but movies are just expensive in general.
Check the leaked Insomniac budget breakdowns, it's a game but Spider-Man 2 cost a third of a billion dollars and most of it went to Californian devs salaries, California is expensive as frick.
They gave Todd Philips and Joaquin Phoenix ridiculous paydays to make a sequel.
They could have done "the joker 2" and furnished me with crisp new yawns, but instead they are doing "joker the musical" which is completely unexpected. Given the absolute state of movies today, remakes, rehashes, totally dull and unoriginal ideas with mediocre actors- this was so unexpected that for the first time in a while I'm legitimately optimistic about it and simply pleased that it exists.
Musicals are inherently gay and cringe. They're making this shit to punish us for enjoying the first one and nothing more.
How does that work? They haven't remade it with a black guy. They aren't overwriting anything. It's a sequel to a successful movie that actually throws a curveball in an age of safe bets. I'm not even a fan of musicals I'm just so tired of seeing the same shit.
Putting an actress loved by gays and women and making it a gay/female genre is somehow more pozzed than recasting the joker as a Black person.
Insane clown posse
I got the right song for this movie
>the demon woman
I Got You Babe
It just should be a collage of MCR's The Black Parade album in chronological order.
This would make a kino movie but Hollywood lacks the guts.
>its my life dont you forget
>West End Girls
>How Soon Is Now
>Don't Go by Yazoo
>Crazy Little Thing Called Love
>Let's Go Crazy by Prince
Lady Gaga is aggressively ugly. I will not be watching Joker 2.
I disagree, she's kino af. Her israeli rat nosed prolife makes it kinky too.
>Her israeli rat nosed prolife
Rude. She's Italian.
~~*Italian*~~ yes.
cope harder gaulic queer
Her acting better be phenomenal because that face is rough.
I really liked the first movie, but I don't think I can endure that.
Ah, yep. That names sense.
Reminds me of Chuck becoming a huge backpedaling pussy with his fight club sequel comic. Aomost anyone decent becomes insane with Hollywood success surrounding them with people whose futures depend on confirming to the current message.
didn't she brag about lezzing out in catholic girls school or something?
What do I give a frick about c*tholic school?
I got some European meat for her
That's the prettiest pic of her I've seen
it will definitely have i am kenough
Cosmic Dancer
Send in the Clowns
Death of a Clown
Nobody Loves You (When You’re Down and Out)
they’re definitely going to pick the most on-the-nose and obvious songs to cover. is todd phillips really such a hack that he couldn’t even bother to write original music, or at least hire someone who could? I also wonder what 70s art film he’ll rip off this time
Jukebox musicals are a thing, you stupid moron. How about you go back?
Boycott Warner Brothers
Who asked for this?
What made the suits at WB get together and decide "yes, the fans of the original Joker movie will love Lady Gaga and 15 cover songs in the sequel"
Why the FRICK are they like this?
This isn't for fans of the original. They're mad about who the fans of the original are and want to spite them as much as possible
This. Can't let white men rally behind anything.
>Who asked for this?
Lady Gaga. She saw a vehicle for another Oscar and went for it.
How are people not seeing this? The songs are going to be all in Harley's head as she fantasizes about the Joker. It could be great.
If it was 1-2 songs, maybe
But 15+? They say it's a jukebox musical-type thing. That is not appealing
i actually do not understand people sperging about it, the original story was of a mentally ill man, this one is an extension of the same; if you want the same movie every time, watch marvel, at least wbd has the balls to try something different which in this case is a 200m musical
if every one on the net is giving financial advices on how it will bomb, do you not think that the wbd suits would have considered that as well and greenlighted the project regardless
>do you not think that the wbd suits would have considered that
I saw Shazam 2. You're a dumb homosexual, they make brain-dead political or detached from reality decisions regularly and have a decent stack of bombs to show for it
the other side of the argument is that wbd is making artsy schlock for 200 mil, which of the other big 5 production studios is ballsy enough to do that?
>universal
will get by on illumination money, cheaply made horror and once in a while something by nolan
>paramount
will release a tom cruise movie whenever it is feeling light on finances
>yidsney
copy paste mcu slop in every iteration, genderbending ip in all instances
>sony
probably another spider man without spiderman, jumanji, mib or ghostbusters
Other side of what? You just lie then pivot like a israelite. Why would anyone engage with you on that. You're not talking about merits at all anymore.
It's a big name character, a sequel to a popular film that didn't call for one (but at the time I hoped it would get one), and there are no positive facts to latch onto so far. It's established that the director wasn't interested in doing the film and was just offered enough money. You're likely insincere, but if you're really this much of a contrarian and obsessed with novelty, that's worse.
Demoralizing shills
Nobody asked for this cringe musical nonsense filled with irrelevant songs no one listens to anymore. I hope they pay you enough to buy a ticket because you're the only ones who will go to see it.
Redditor spotted.
Not even original songs just covers? I like musicals but just a bunch of covers is not worth it.
daydream believer
I just don't have hopes for this at all.
However...maybe they pulled it off as a mental musical.
Only time will tell.

Lady Gaga : I’m a smoker
Phoenix : I’m a Joker
Together : I’m a midnight toker
You jest but there is a big chance of this happening.
burzum dunkelheit
Who the frick asked for this?
With that said, if one of the songs is Party Rock Anthem I'll forgive them.
?si=VSfsOTVjWSwHUMW0
Was just about to say this. I can definitely see Harley having this song play in her head when falling for Mr. J.
it's gonna be kino
songs is dishonest moviemaking
>"mostly a jukebox musical" and features at least 15 cover songs
That sounds fricking awful.
>first movie considered an incel powderkeg
>Hollywood hates it but it made so much money they can't leave it alone
>Put lady gaga in it and make it a genre for gays and women to keep away the incels.
Let's be real here. If they were serious about making an honest sequel Donald Trump would be in this movie and not fricking lady gaga
>>I Started a Joke
yep, would be willing to bet really big bucks on that
?si=sXbxQIpaKJcNJmtF
Musicals arent bad movies. But this one is gonna be.
If you're a heterosexual male all musical are bad movies. Singing is inherently gay.
All this time I’ve been listening to led zeppelin to realising they were actually gay as frick.
>This movie has a $200m budget
Literally how
Gaga is very expensive. And now Phoenix can negotiate his Oscar Bonus. Cillian Murphy waited until he got his Oscar to sign on to the Peaky Blinders movie so he could ask for a higher payday.
I can't believe they are using this ugly goblin for Harley.
Joker Face
>That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore
>theme of Killer Klowns From Outer Space
I assume any and all songs that have the word "joke" or "clown" in the title or lyrics are up for it
>That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore
honestly I bet Morrissey floozies are all over this shit
>Crazy Frog - Axel F
>Crazy Frog - Popcorn

English Beat - Tears of a Clown
Sparks - Funny Face
Harlequin - Innocence
New Order - The Perfect Kiss
>when the Bad Romance cover starts playing
>Original is a drama
>Sequel is a jukebox musical romance
Has anything like this happened before? Any big genre changes in sequels? Other than movies being repurposed as sequels that have nothing to do with the original.
Sure, lots. BttF 3 is a western with sci-fi elements, not unlike Joker 2 being a musical with drama elements.
The BttF movies are all what I would classify as adventure movies
nah BttF2 is hard scifi
Needs to be period accurate. Anything released up to 1985.

This is beyond gay.
How do you go from dark remake of The King of Comedy to a musical?
the first movie sucked so i'm not surprised
