Croc stopped half way through. Dr. Crane took it as an opportunity to graph his mask to the remains of his face and fully immerse himself as the Scarecrow.

No joke. The CIA experimented with psychedelics in order to try and create an obedience drug/truth serum. And when that didn't work, they kept using them in order to try and program sleeper personalities in people. Heck, it probably DID work, but as it's the stuff of conspiracies it'll never truly be taken seriously.

I had a really nightmarish reaction to lidocaine being added to my ketamine infusion. The doctor said it happens but is rare. During the infusion itself and for several days after I was just violently agitated and paranoid, it was awful. I don't think it's a stretch to get to fear gas. Add in some acid/lsd and it'd be pretty close.

Drugs that effect the serotonin release can lead to what is called serotonin syndrome in which the patient has hallucinations and, essentially, goes cartoon crazy.

Combine that with something as simple as Salvia and you’d get some pretty insane effects.
