Capeshit is slowly falling out of the limelight. Its amazing. Guardian's is only like #3 biggest movie and its ready to go down to #4. It used to be nothing but cape at the top.
I'm optimistic. I didn't even look at current films for so long cause I dont give a shit about cape but I'm reading movie and box office news again
I don't think any of those will succeed half as well as Barbie has, if only for the simple reason that they won't capture the female demo with anywhere near the same fervor
Women aren't gonna drag their friends to the cinema to see a G.I. Joe or Jenga movie. Clue could do alright since they love murder mysteries for some reason, but the rest seem doubtful
That isn't going to take off to any serious degree. How many of them are going to be Gosling/Gerwig/Robbie tier? Most actors won't be interested. Barbie is the biggest toy in the world fir half a century. At best you get a Clue type take on some board games.
Like the other anon said, I don't think the new toy movies will replicate the success, so it'll be like a short splash and then we'll get something else.
I just want more standalone original movies. If that becomes the deal like it used to be, it increases the potential they might shit out something I'm actually interested in each year, instead of just obligatory adaptations of decades old story arcs and obscure nerd character movies no one cares about (blue beetle).
Appealing to authority but Francis Ford Coppola seems to think things are looking up
Barbie did well because female memberberries is a pretty untapped well still. Much smaller pool of stuff to work with though, I'm not sure what other franchise could come even close to Barbie for this purpose. MLP got entirely co-opted by autistic men so that's out.
I can't believe such a shit movie, not even mediocre, managed to make this much money.
This just proves anything that gets shilled enough the right way will sell.
Hollywood has been producing so shitty movies when something that wasn't a remake, sequel, or capeshit comes along it looks amazing by comparsion. Had it come out pre-2010 it would be totally forgettable.
Lol not really.
I shows that that woke can work if applied if applied to the right thing. In this case they put the feminist agenda in a movie about a doll that revolutionized girls toys and did the whole strong female thing basically from the start.
On top of that.... women are kind of... ignorant and are both more easily fooled and oblivious to propaganda. Like, most dudes that have brought up the movie see the misandry but most women are just loving the pink and the Barbie aesthetics.
It's absolutely over for us now menbros, the Barbie success is clear sign that all we're getting from now on is just more and more matriarchy movies about how women are beautiful goddesses and men should be kept as chaste dogs who live under their heels
Barbie sequel, for one
Probably going to see more toy brand experiment movies for two.
The biggest thing we might see is unapologetically female movies, movies with bright pinks and blues starring very white people. Unrelated to toys, juat femme movie aesthetics
Taylor Swift is going to triple that in one day.
Hollywood will learn the wrong lessons.
I mean yeah, probably. You could say this about any big movie at any time and probably be right
this, they will keep blackwashing white characters and making us look at uglies and fatties even though the world wants Chad and Stacey
>What does this mean for the future of cinema?
Larger advertising budgets.

Capeshit falling off is good. But more mindless feminism and barbie shit isn't exactly a great replacement.
Capeshit is falling and now we are going to see Toyshit cinema. Expect a new Masters of the Universe, Sorry, Clue, Monopoly, Jenga, Lego, GI Joe, etc

Soon we will have more toy movies like a Stretch Armstrong movie
it means i hope the strikes never end and Hollywood an heros itself
it means a lot of flops trying to reproduce its success
I don't know, but hopefully this again. Was an awesome adaption.
They caught lightning in a bottle. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming
If anything they’ll just market everything toward women & children.
It proves that "go woke go broke" is just cope.
?t=285
Like clockwork.
It means Nintoddlers and chuds are on literal suicide watch
They threw something at the wall that stuck. Expect more, unfortunately. HW is creatively bankrupt.

now we get a mattel cinematic universe. they spent more on marketing as they did on production.
Cinema has been shit since 2005. This means that cinema will be even more shit.
More pandering to women for crappy movies without them realising that the only reason they liked it was Ryan Gosling
white lead actor sells
