Generally the most important factor for an actor is not height or even good looks, it's most important that they have a large head/face.
You'll find that almost every actor has a large head, this makes them appear much more expressive on camera compared to the average person.

That's funny because I'm 6ft and I've met Jack at a Lakers game back when I used to work security there and seemed to be about my same height....if not taller. I don't think that one's accurate. But then again, some people just have a "tall presence." I also met DeVito once and while yes, he's very small, it didn't feel like I was talking to an ant. When we conversed it almost felt like we were eye to eye. But then there's the polar opposite to that coin and I noticed it with the NBA players themselves. I mean, those fricking guys are huge but some of theme seemed almost puny in the way they carried themselves.
I really don't think it's really just a height thing; it has a lot to do with form and how you present yourself. I had a boss that was a retired Chicago cop who looked like Alex Ferns (pic related) and had a loss prevention company and would do take downs even if the guys were giants. It wasn't until one day I saw him walk out one of those doors with the height measurements on the side so you can give a height description to cops that I realized he was just 5'5" I was like wtf I thought that dude was maybe 5'10" but again, I think it has a lot more to do with presentation.
