Isn't this the whole point of the field of historiography?

There's a perfectly reasonable theory that the Great Sphinx was rebuilt at some point, based on the erosion at the base. It may have had a jackal head, the beard could have been added later, the nose fell off, etc etc.

The problem is this doesn't line up with the dates that "canon" Egyptologists have declared as the truth. So even the Wikipedia page treats it like some ancient aliens fringe conspiracy theory.

Hell right now we are excavating an ancient city that contradicts our previous understanding of when hunter-gatherers began settled society. You can't NOT be open to changes in our understanding when introduced with new research. But historians apparently know everything for sure, already.

Possibly because Hand wiener peddles in fringe theories about aliens kickstarting human civilization.

        ok
        but aliens?

Doesn't seem like you're applying the scientific method if you're denying a possibility outright. "It could be ayy lmaos", we could test that, instead it gets flat out denied, basically

        Aliens aren't real.

So much of accepted science today was once quackery. The double slit experiment is a mindfrick. Photons are basically magic to ye olde timey natural philosophers who KNEW we shot flashlight beams out of our eyes (clearly).

It isn't scepticism in the academic sense, it's 'skepticism' in the James Randi sense. It's a cult. Sorry.

He was on ancient aliens but has said number of times he doesn’t believe in ayys. The fact is humans have existed for at least 150k years but we only know history for 12k years or so. 90% of human history, at least, is gone.

That is what I believe. We are simply presented with this consensus view on reality and accepted history only because it has been spread so repetitiously as a meme and in fact there is a far greater history involving aliens and whatnot but oh you don't believe in aliens now you don't have access to that history you see you are kept in the dark believing there is nothing beyond Everybody Loves Raymond and what have you I don't want to blame the israelites but the israelites are a very big part of it so I must concede anon I blame the israelites.

Most science, history and archeology is wrong though. You know, for a bunch of self-proclaimed "atheists", modern scientists sure do seem to have a massive God complex.

You're not infallible, moron. Most historians can't even tell the truth about things that happened a mere 80 years ago in Europe...

The craziest thing is that he's right. Archeologists are cowards by nature, and close ranks to protect their shitty established ideas at the slightest sign of dissenting thought. In this way, archeologists are a lot like scientists and journalists.

He isn't. Corruption is everywhere and some things are obvious inaccurate.

archeaologists are in many ways both those things. An archeaologist must try to interpret their findings and that is almost always a creative story to make the fossil coherent with the existing body of knowledge.. They use scientific tools and principles, but they are largely just story tellers and there really is a lot of credence and MONEY to be won by telling a good story. There is SO much good archaeology that could be done but SO little money available to do it. But these simple hypotheses in conjunction with modern science(lidar, genes) definitely makes people who are invested in more traditional hypotheses tremble at the thought of their patrons saying "eh buddy what the frick i gave you millions and you were dicking around in africa"

Does it not already amaze anybody else that humans can even have so many cars driving on the road at the same damn time? It’s a miracle there aren’t 100x more accidents in America.
