What would Cinemaphile be like if pic related didn't exist and you guys had to pay for everything you discussed here?
Has pic related made kino discussion better or worse?

I have no money, so without torrents, I just couldn't talk about anything. Would that make you happy, OP? I don't download much anyway and it's just a couple movies a year.
>I don't download much anyway and it's just a couple movies a year.
why are you even here?
i watch like 2 movies a week, 2 or 3 shows per week depending on what is airing.
>why are you even here?
I'm here because I spent my life on Cinemaphile and I guess I come here out of habit. I don't have anywhere else to go. That's the entire story.
This place is like a big warm hug
i love you too anon
It's actually weird that someone would ask why I'm here when I've been here the longest. I used to watch movies and talk to Cinemaphile about them, but I don't know who's using this site anymore, so I stopped.
I'm glad you're enjoying the place.
I came for Anonymous vs Scientology about a decade ago and it's only getting worse ever since
>I came for Anonymous vs Scientology about a decade ago and it's only getting worse ever since
I actually don't know what Anonymous vs Scientology is, but I do agree that Cinemaphile gets worse every year. It just moves further away from what the place is meant to be: It was a site for losers to discuss anime, and it's normalgay central now.
Did it? Even I watched Oppenheimer, because I've seen every Nolan movie, but the discussion didn't last long. I don't think the movie was good enough.
>I came for Anonymous vs Scientology about a decade ago and it's only getting worse ever since
homie that was about 15/16 years ago
so it was. I don't have the capacity for telling time
>I don't know who's using this site anymore
I am. Get on your hands and knees, chud. You’re under arrest.
I’ve been here since 07 almost everyone from then is either a normal or dead now very few from the early days and boy can you tell
>almost everyone from then is either a normal or dead now very few from the early days and boy can you tell
Yeah, exactly. Nobody understands what I mean when I say I don't recognise the userbase. It's just the opinions. I'll see some thread with a picture of a Black person and it has 300 replies and I'm like
>who are these people
People bringing up trannies all the time. There's so many examples, but any oldgay would feel like an alien in this place.
for me it's seeing people praise hunter Schafer
it's not just that though, I fear the world has inverted into one colossal irrational masculine neovegana, and my predisposal to logic does not fit in here any longer, but it is at least somewhere I feel comfortable even if I hate what it has become
>it is at least somewhere I feel comfortable even if I hate what it has become
You're probably comfortable for the same reason I am. Cinemaphile has some people like us, even if it's not everyone. If you're not a normie, where can you go? Nowhere. The only places for us are Cinemaphile and any other chans that exist.
nta but i thought that other chans would have people like us, but instead i found it it's just as populated with the new generation, and it's slow as hell. zoomers either have their head up their asses and don't care for any wisdom of the past or they're all moronic.
I tried Wizardchan, and those anons are very relatable, but yeah, all non-Cinemaphile chans are slow. I would only go if Cinemaphile died. I'm just saying that this place and those places are the only places we have.
>for me it's seeing people praise hunter Schafer
Yeah, we didn't have trolls who posted bait out of some desire for replies back in the old days. The concept of fishing for replies is pretty new to Cinemaphile.
42 year oldgay here. Came in 2006 when a coworker told me it was the best place to get high res wallpapers, but warned me off of going on other boards. I remember the Wild West to an extent on /b/, creation of this board and lots of good memories, one of the best is still the South Africa World Cup and the vuvuzelas on Cinemaphile. Back then the oldgays were clear that to maintain board culture, you need to fricking lurk moar, not shit up the boards constantly with your shit hot takes. I took that to heart, I’ve probably only posted less than 200 times in 18 or so years. I still come every day and spend most of my free time here. I’m now a successful lawyer at the top of my field so I never understood the “young” bias - I am sure there are thousands of anons like me in middle age that just can’t get away. Even though quality has dropped way down, it’s still the best place to hide on the internet and have actual conversation.
Thanks for the life story. I wish I cared, but the best I can do is pretending to care by replying. You want to talk about hiding? You hide on the internet and I hide on Cinemaphile. Anyone who replies to me is super desperate, because I'm always hiding. Anyway, good job with your life, but I don't want to speak to you, because we have nothing in common. In the time you spent doing stuff, I was on Cinemaphile.
33 year old here. There are so many of us that never left. It's OK as long as you have a productive life when you're not online.
>There are so many of us that never left
I'm one of them. I've been here since I was a teenager. My life hasn't changed since then, and the only thing that changed was this website. It looks the same, but the userbase changed. I avoid them all anyway.
how often do you get called reddit?
It's happened before, but not recently. I think newbies have this idea about what Cinemaphile is meant to be like, but they don't actually know.
Fun fact: Cinemaphile used to be more civil (when people weren't acting like idiots for lols) because it was mostly white people.
>why are you even here?
Shut up, homosexual.
>i watch like 2 movies a week, 2 or 3 shows per week depending on what is airing.
"If you don't chug the slop, you should hop!"
I haven't watched a movie or tv show in 4 months but I have posted here every day in the last week
You'd just have a bunch of people discussing stuff based off youtube essays/reactions or video clips. Because that's not how it is now. Nope.
We poorgays would have to break into homes to watch our shows, maybe have to kill a few people in the process. I don't think it would go well
Imagine killing a buygay whole family to watch The Marvels.
If piracy went away most media would disappear from the public consciousness. Imagine paying for propaganda garbage to get stuffed down your throat.
>If piracy went away most media would disappear from the public consciousness.
is that why somebody named Cohen invented bittorrent?
>a israelite invented internet piracy s you should pay the israelites for israeli media instead
Nice try rabbi.
what he's saying is that piracy was helped by ~~*them*~~ so that propaganda can also get to the minds of the poor who can't afford media
>What would Cinemaphile be like if pic related didn't exist
exactly the same since I'm not using that israelite-infested shit
deluge is bloated shit
no it isn't
I would still be streaming illegally? I don’t see the point in downloading a movie that I haven’t seen before and if I like the movie then I buy it on dvd or bluray or something
I'd stream things on 123movies or one of the other sketchy sites. I'll stop watching movies illegally once they throw me in jail for it.
I would instead go to the library.
If they got rid of that too. I dunno. I'd whittle wood or something. I don't spend money on myself. Money is for my kids' futures.
Would be the end of cinema. 90% of the movies I watch are not available on streaming services/ buy.
I guess big companies would keep making shit till people are no longer interested in movies and move on like it's happening now but way faster.
>I guess big companies would keep making shit till people are no longer interested in movies and move on like it's happening now but way faster.
I'm actually not sure how TV and Film is still a thing with the trash they're making. People don't have to watch either anymore. If I never watched a movie again, I would still have Youtube and video games. I come to Cinemaphile every day when I watch very little, because I just talk about past movies.
Oppenheimer rejuvenated the place lately
only because of the memes and embarrassing scenes.
Exactly, it's just a matter of time
Right? I think young people wouldn't care at all. Millennials or older would be sickened by the diversity, LGBT and how feminine everything is.
I think the propaganda machine is on life support.
>90% of the movies I watch are not available on streaming services/ buy.
Me too. I've watched less than 10 israeli movie (even less than 5 in think) in 2023. I don't watch tv shows.
>90% of the movies I watch are not available on streaming services/ buy.
We all know why, nonce.
>can now pirate any movie I want, anytime
>end up not watching anything at all
I recommend:
The Fast Show
Story of Ricky
Withnail & I
Any time someone wants to debate this with you, and tell you why they think """"""piracy"""""" is wrong, all you have to do is reply with
>I DON'T GIVE A FRICK
I don't even watch anything
Nice. I watch very little too. I think I was actually about to watch something today, but I remembered that I don't want to speak to Nu Cinemaphile, so I stopped myself. These people can to talk each other, because I don't know who they are.
>implying I've watched half the movies I talk about on Cinemaphile
you're funny, op
I’m laying in bed streaming a 4k HDR remux of predator to my 4k tv from my nvidia shield pro with kodi completely comfy you all sound like a bunch of slack jawed homosexuals
Cinemaphile wouldn't exist without torrenting
>There's people in this thread that paid money to go see Barbie (2023) in the theaters
I live in a tent in the woods and have to sit outside a public toilet in a park to charge my phone and I just downloaded the latest episodes of two shows I've been watching so I think it's been a positive.
Firstly, my condolences on having to live in a tent. Secondly, I've been poor my whole life, so I'll always be pro-piracy. Piracy means anyone can watch whatever they want. I'm not some israelite, so I actually consider things other than profits, like the happiness of others.
probably only the big blockbusters would be discussed/box office predictions.
I don't actually watch any of the movies I talk about on Cinemaphile because I'm not a child and I have a job.
you sounds very childish none the less
shill posts would drop to zero. No one saw The Marvels, or Ghosbusters, or Wonder Woman 84. Say goodbye to those threads forever.
i barely watch anything as it is i certainly wouldn't pay for it
Please don't talk about the effects of software you haven't paid for. There is an expectation of you tipping me for this entertaining reversal. Send it or henceforth be known as a thief.
Goid
I don't even watch the things I discuss here when they're free.
Sad
How do you discuss something without having seen it? It's not even possible. I'm guessing you just hang around while others talk about it.
I'm good at drawing logical inferences from context clues. Once you've seen twenty movies you've pretty much seen them all.
I'll reiterate that it's not possible. What do you think about my favourite movie?
I think Emma was miscast, and it doesn't hold up the book. Beth was still adorable at least. You still cry when she dies so everything else is does wrong is forgiven.
>I think Emma was miscast
Do you? I haven't read the book, so I don't know what Meg is meant to be like.
>Beth was still adorable at least
I do like Beth, but I didn't cry when she died. Beth didn't even cry at her own death, so she's probably the most relatable for me (personality-wise).
I think the only time I cried was when Amy falls through the ice.
Meg as described in the book as both the girliest of them, but also the sweetest and most doting. The sort that's always dreaming of having a large family of daughters of her own, if only so she can dress them all as princesses, and spoil them with the material comforts she missed out on herself. I got the prissyness from Emma's performance, but I didn't get the softness. Or maybe I'm just biased from not liking her IRL.
>I got the prissyness from Emma's performance, but I didn't get the softness
No, you're right about Emma. Emma is playing a mother when she's childless in real life. She doesn't seem like she'd be a good mother either. Saying she's miscast is quite valid. I just find her acceptable because I liked her as a kid when she played Hermione.
I bet Greta Gerwig casted her because she's a woman and almost definitely a Harry Potter fan. The other actresses actually fit the characters.
Well there go then. I just talked about a movie I've never seen before and have no interest in based on only one image you shared(and my outside knowledge from an audiobook version that I used to play for my grandma.)
>I just talked about a movie I've never seen before
Yes, but the conversation was quite lame. I can actually go into specifics and bring up complaints. I didn't like the editing and it really bothered me at times. Look at this scene I made a webm of - my wife in her fairy outfit. Anyone who has seen the movie knows how short this part is. In fact, this short clip isn't from the movie and I had to splice two parts together. It's like super rushed and I don't really understand it. Maybe I want to see this fricking part but it's like one minute in the movie.
I'm not even kidding and I can post proof.
?si=og1ImKESBsByq2MV&t=450
What is this ADHD editing?
editing didn't survive the competency crisis
>I didn't like the editing and it really bothered me at times.
Then why is it your favourite movie?
Well... I like the cast, and I think that's the most important part of the movie. What is more important than people?
I'm a novelty junkie that puts originality first. An interesting story told poorly beats a boring story told well. That's why I dig Plan 9 despite every other element in the movie being utter garbage.
>An interesting story told poorly beats a boring story told well
I guess we have nothing in common then, because I actually like the latter. I watched The Northman and thought it was the greatest movie of all time, and it's just a simple revenge story.
homie it was hamlet told poorly what the frick is wrong with you
>most recent remake of little women
>anyone's favorite movie
watch more movies
I willingly gave the kinoplex money to see Godzilla Minus One
Based. I don't even like Godzilla, but paying for something you like is the right move. Money is really the only way a person can vote. If you pay for stuff then they'll keep making it.
even today most of the posts on the board are from paid shills, about whatever is being marketed the hardest, because there's no actual interest in any of it, and that interest would be even lower without free means to view the crap.
What's crazy is I can watch it all for free, but I don't want to. None of it really appeals to me.
Yep, pretty much. Every day I go to my illegal streaming site of choice, sort by new releases, and see nothing I care to watch. If it's not by a director that's already proven their worth or it extremely beautiful actress on the cover then chances are I'm not clicking. I just sigh and get nostalgic for video rental days when finding kino was like looking for buried treasure.
You're a coomer and a director groupie. The worst kind of person on Cinemaphile.
>Implying Cinemaphile watches movies
>Implying Cinemaphile watches anime
>Implying Cinemaphile plays Vidya
>Implying Cinemaphile lifts
>Implying /k/ owns guns
>Implying Cinemaphile owns cars
>...
It would change nothing.
I would only make threads about Lost because I buy things I actually like.
man, we'd make fun of you even harder
movies and tv still air OTA which is free
OTA was for my dad, not for me.
I play in my paddling pool
