What in tarnation did I just watch?
One of the strangest films I've ever seen. I feel creeped out beyond measure.
Are all David Lynch films like this?

>Are all David Lynch films like this?
Not all, he's got a few fairly straightforward films, like Elephant Man and The Straight Story.
But Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire only get darker and weirder. Blue Velvet is most similar to the first few seasons of Twin Peaks.
I'm considering checking Twin Peaks out.
Is it as good as everyone says?
Well I love it, but opinions vary!
Yes, but the latter half of season 2 falters due to network meddling, except for the amazing final episode. Still, don't skip anything, it's not the kind of show where you can do that.
S1 -> S2 -> Movie -> S3
Original TP isn't terrible but it's not really that good either, it depends on how much you like/are willing to tolerate soap operas. S2 after the murderer is caught is garbage until the finale, movie is good, make sure to watch The Missing Pieces too. Season 3 would be amazing if Lynch didn't get an 18 episodes deal, it's full of padding unfortunately because of that.
>inb4 Lynched nobody cares trannies, seethe, mald, dilate etc.
Hated those frickin concerts at the end of every episode.
surely this is bait
I can't think of anything more kino than ending every episode of your television show with a live studio performance of a song
I like twin peaks because it feels like it has all the weird lynch creatividad shit but mark frost is there to dial his bs back at times and channel it into something thats a bit more "traditionally enjoyable" while not completely giving up what makes lynch special. Maybe saying that is outing myself as a smoothbrain, but its genuinely how I feel, and honestly I think that is the kind of environment where david lynch works best and one he didn't work in enough while he was still active
I think it's fantastic. There's a ton to appreciate and you'd have a difficult time finding such a unique show. Go in blind, and if you're not absorbed by the end of the pilot, it's not for you. Season 3 and the movie are the peak though
>like Elephant Man
The Elephant Man, you make it sound like a superhero movie.
Elephant Man
>Elephant Man
Elephant Man
Does whatever an elephant can.
>I feel creeped out beyond measure.
Just wait till you watch Eraserhead
I unironically don't remember anything about this
blue velvet is incredible. the cast is really what makes it. lynch would not have been able to pull the movie off without a strong lead and a strong villain. dennis hopper gave the fricking performance of his life in this thing.
the "lynch genius" shows in the roy orbison scene and with the cinematography in the opening shots.
blue velvet is 10/10 perfection and i stop myself from rewatching it too much so that it doesn't get old
its one of the very least strange films of his
It's not strange at all though, it's just a regular thriller film but I do agree that it's one of the best
I found out yesterday that Isabella was supposed to play the role of Josie in Twin Peaks but dropped out at the last second. Man, she would've been so much better than what we got.
Lynch fricked her up good. Apparently they had a horrible divorce
They were never married. Get Lynched
Kino movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsxxMSZHbI0
Wah baby wants to frick wah dont reply to me dont you fricking reply to me wah...films great.
YOU ARE SO FRICKING SUAVE
Here's to your frick, Anon
watch Mulholland Drive next, OP.
Bumpan a based thread.
Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, and Twin Peaks Season 1 are peak Lynch.
Fire Walk With Me is great too but I love the comfiness of early TP.
I showed this to my parents thinking it was a cool amateur detective flick and now I'm banned from picking movie night
