it's bad and the beginning of the show no longer being worth watching. I'll cut to the chase : the characters don't awake empathy anymore and the new animation style doesn't look right
Dude just sounds like a wannabe YouTube reviewer, there's a less pretentious way of phrasing it is all. Also that particular language reminds me of a particular autist on here in a bad way.
I was onthe fence on that one; I left it out because I feel like "Mr. Krabs turns the KK into a hotel" is scraping the bottom of the barrel. The only remarkable thing I remember about it is that Squidward gets back on Mr. Krabs.
Why'd you leave The Thing
It's 11 minutes of witless Squidward torture
Emphasis on witless. Don't think it ever got as devoid of imagination as it did here
Awful.
I liked the Fawlty Towers episode but everything else isn't good.
Even what I like is just something wearing Spongebob's skin.
Some of it feels like rehashes like Once Bitten is another horror themed Gary episode but without the horror. But Chimps Ahoy, The Thing, Dunces and Dragons, these episodes are anti-Spongebob.
Definitely where the show started to go downhill, but it still had some decent episodes. For example, Krusty Towers was fricking hilarious and wouldn’t feel too out of place as a season 2 or 3 episode.
I think "Mrs. Puff, You're Fired" is when I noticed the show was drastically different than how it used to be. Have You Seen This Snail and Dunces and Dragons are way more interesting specials than Party Pooper Pants or Sponge Who Could Fly, tho.
The truth most of Cinemaphile won't acknowledge is that S3 is already presenting signs of decay. The episodes you mention and others tell me Hillenburg saw the writing on the wall and wanted to call it quits so the good overwhelmingly outpaced the bad...Well, look where we are now.
>S3 is already presenting signs of decay.
Tonal shift started in season 2 and came with a number of bad episodes and rehashes.
Of course it's nowhere near as bad as S4 onwards but it's like the Simpsons. You start to notice scene, layout and narrative changes. Everything starts to feel more grounded, less surreal. Scene composition aren't as dynamic... like characters are always stood on a flat plane in the same positions and are almost traced to make sure they're on model no matter the scene.
I agree with you from a technical point but, without downplaying the virtues of great craftsmanship, the image you bring up does nothing to rob the S2 episode of its hilarity. If the episode is funny, more standard composition and such details don't really take away from the laughs for me. I'm talking about the entertainment quality here.
It's true S2 isn't impeccable across the board but I feel it's really only near the end of S3 where the stink starts coming through
Yeah, which is why I said it's nowhere near as bad as S4 onwards.
Don't worry, I'm not going to take a dump on S1-3 when every time a movie happens they somehow make it even worse.
I even think the half baked global warming episode is better than modern gore fetish episodes or whatever era that happened in (I grew up and couldn't keep watching somewhere before the post-sequel era).
A mix of good, bad and mediocre episodes. Krusty Towers was kino. But Good Neighbors was absolutely horrible and may be the worst episode of the whole show.
It was the start of some of the worst aspects of the series (shitting on squidward for no good reason, overabundance of Krabs v Plankton episodes, etc) and I'd wager to say it was the first season with any bad episodes at all.
It's the beginning of a downward spiral.
It sucks. The best in there doesn't go past Alright, except for the Greenblatt premiere that might as well be a S3 holdover.

>the characters don't awake empathy anymore
Season 4 sucks but you sound like a massive homosexual typing out shit like this
They're not wrong though. A big component of what makes the classic seasons work is precisely the empathy.
Dude just sounds like a wannabe YouTube reviewer, there's a less pretentious way of phrasing it is all. Also that particular language reminds me of a particular autist on here in a bad way.
Painfully mediocre. There's a few decent eps in there, but people who lump it in with 1-3 are delusional.
I doubt I'll bother watching it. The latest seasons are the best seasons.
No, they are highly reliant on wacky faces
>Bumping a shit thread
>Seriously replying to guy
have a nice day.
anon that was a single episode of Season 4
So they are good
Stfu you dumbass man child. Imagine bringing all of these issues to discussing fricking SpongeBob
Have You Seen This Snail came on once right after my dog died, so frick this entire season
Sucks
If you remove these its still a good season
>removing Krusty Towers
I was onthe fence on that one; I left it out because I feel like "Mr. Krabs turns the KK into a hotel" is scraping the bottom of the barrel. The only remarkable thing I remember about it is that Squidward gets back on Mr. Krabs.
>Removing Krusty Towers and Karate Island
>Keeping All That Glitters
>Removing Fear of the Krabby Patty, the one episode that could have aired in S3
Why'd you leave The Thing
It's 11 minutes of witless Squidward torture
Emphasis on witless. Don't think it ever got as devoid of imagination as it did here
>no lost mattress
>no krusty towers
>no fear of krabby patty
Awful.

This. And the new designs dont help either.
Dunces and Dragons was at least good
What is (You)r opinions on SpongeBob season 4?
Definitely where the show started to go downhill, but it still had some decent episodes. For example, Krusty Towers was fricking hilarious and wouldn’t feel too out of place as a season 2 or 3 episode.
Come on. Out with it
it obviously wasn't as good as the first 3 seasons but it was still entertaining, like I'd still watch these over season 6 and onward.
Soulless
ScumBob, ScumBob, SCUMBOB!!!!!!
>Got completely filtered by sponge henge
I think "Mrs. Puff, You're Fired" is when I noticed the show was drastically different than how it used to be. Have You Seen This Snail and Dunces and Dragons are way more interesting specials than Party Pooper Pants or Sponge Who Could Fly, tho.

It's alright, it's not as good as the classic seasons, but there's nothing offensively bad.
More forgetful then I remember it being.
Seasons 1-3 are it
Not the worst, but a decrease
The last good season, should not be paired with S1-3 but it's a solid season with a few duds.
Fear of a Krabby Patty is the only one I liked.
It shouldn't have existed

Not a single episode of Season 4 is as witty or funny as S3
Not bad but not good
Im ready im ready im ready
I can't believe that skill crane and the wishing well is the same season as squid wood and the wig episode
Shit
I hated how more than half of these episodes took place at the Krusty Krab.
Name them
