To be fair outside of the game they've really downplayed Ganke as being instrumental to Miles functioning as a hero.
And in the game Miles isn't completely out of his depth, he still knows how to do a lot of this stuff just not as well as Ganke (who is also Peter's tech support now for some god forsaken reason)

I dunno, man. Even in the Insomniac sequel where Miles definitely feels extremely shilled, Miles inspires apathy in me at most. I can sympathize with Cinemaphile's desire to want Peter to be treated well as the original, but if Miles is going to be there alongside him, I'd also like him to be written well rather than just "Oh, I got new powers".

An artistic, empathetic boy who just wanted to be able to go through life at his own pace, only to be pushed forwards by pressures both domestic and straight up supernatural. Despite constantly feeling as though he doesn't belong, whether it be at the fancy school that he very much is proficient enough to attend or the world of superheroism, he won't give up, not even in the face of fate itself.
Persistence, I think, is one of his chief qualities. Much like Captain America, he looks at the world telling him to move aside, and he says "No. YOU move." He can stare down an endless array of futures that always seem to go the same way, and will go "Not this time".

Thank you. Though you and everyone else here are forgetting Miles’s main flaw

Miles fears the spotlight and would rather exist under the radar as not popular but not unpopular than actually do anything with his life. And secondly he is way too over reliant on others to get things done to the point where Hobie actually calls him out for it

        Anonymous

Not really a character flaw but if something or someone can't be Venom Blasted by him, he rapidly collapses as he really relies on it to the talking unlike Peter. The issue is that's a rare occurrence.

          Anonymous

Considering he can trivially take out higher level demons with it, I don't even see how anything can possible be immune to it.

fears the spotlight and would rather exist under the radar as not popular but not unpopular than actually do anything with his life
Thus wouldn't be too bad if they ever actually did anything with it. Like going into how he stays as Spider-Man now because it's an easy way to get approval by riding on an already existent hero name, and even though it's redundant he won't change it because he's terrified of having to get approval on his own merits.

I feel like there’s a seed here for a really touching moment where Peter says he’s worried about Miles ruining his life by trying to be him, with Peter even giving that one quote about how the comfort zone is where dreams go to die

            Anonymous

Honestly, I've posted the idea before, but I probably would have leaned harder into Miles' electric powers. Can still have him want to be Spider-Man easily: he's a huge Spider-Man fanboy(maybe Spider-Man saved him and/or maybe Miles had some bad encounters with law enforcement over a misunderstanding and empathizes with him to a degree on that). And then one day he gets electrical powers, but finds a way to make it work with wanting to be Spider-Man and uses his electrical powers to emulate him.
Wall crawling? Uses electromagnetics to cling to surfaces with enough metal in it.
Web slinging? he has some strong wires he uses to magnetize to/wrap around things to 'sling" his way around.
Enhanced speed and strength? I'm pretty sure there's some way justify that with electricity. Or he's just fast like Spider-Man, but not as strong so he relies a lot on "Venom Blast" to add the extra "punch" he needs.
Invisibility? I'd probably drop this personally but I'm sure there's some way to technobabble this, or maybe Peter helped him make a specialized suit that can use an electric current to power some kind of cloaking field(that would normally be unfeasible without a good power source, but if Miles passively generates electricity that downside is moot)

This would make spider sense the only thing he lacks, but that's 100% fine, it's a solid downside since he's not a "real" Spider-Person, and give him an advantage on the rare occasion some villain might jam Peter's spider sense or use it to cripple him somehow.

Same with Miles except his every claim of unique artistic expression is immediately followed by him ripping off Peter wholesale. Peter's photography hustle is narratively more important than any of Miles' art endeavors.

            Anonymous

i mean you yourself agree with me what peter's photos are portrayed as: a hustle. miles, at least so far, has expressed an emotional need to express himself creatively. the character hasn't matured enough to do it for money like peter does because he still lives with mommy and daddy. shit on it on all you want, and yeah they haven't really done anything with it yet besides use it to deepen miles' and uncle aaron's relationship*, but it's there, its a character trait that is unique to miles for people to use in the future.

*i think that's good though. uncle aaron is a legit good villain with a solid dynamic (two characters keeping secret identities from each other is classic spider-man) and very unique from peter, even if aaron stole prowler's name

And spiderverse was the ONLY TIME that ever discussed miles “artistic side” and it was done in the most pathetic pandering way possible to glorify vandalism for no reason other than that’d what Hollywood types equate with “black creativity”. In the movies or the comics? In the movies he fits in pretty well with his community and is pretty sociable from what we see in the opening of the first film, but then struggles with self-confidence in a new environment. That only gets worse when he has to deal with more experienced superheroes and his feelings of guilt over causing blonde Peter's death.

So personality-wise, for the first film, I'd say "fish out of water" with social skills he finds difficult to apply to new people/places. He's very affable, but also afraid to disappoint the people around him and hard on himself for any perceived failures.

In the sequel, he's pretty much the same, just more confident until Miguel starts venting at him, at which point his insecurities flare up again. Of course, at this point Miles has been Spider-Man for a while and even saved the multiverse in the first film, so he feels confident enough in his capabilities that he can use being Spider-Man as a shield from Miguel's criticisms, even if Miguel possibly knows more than he does. It'll remain to be seen if the third movie sees that as a flaw or not, though.

No it doesn't, Peter isn't as ruthless and pragmatic as Miguel, or an anarchist like Hobie-Punk, or a boyscout like Bailey, or broody and serious like Noir, or a complete slapstick goofball like Ham. You can imagine all sorts of potential disagreements or discussions arising from those conflicts of personality and values, meanwhile the only way for Peter and Miles to disagree is if Peter is written out of character like ITSV/ATSV and doesn't want kids or to save Ben so Miles can convince him he should want that.
