I dunno. When the cgi looks like cheezy like some of the budget rubber suits, it kinda fits. That first video almost looks Roger Rabbit -esque. Like mixing anime and live action.
This stuff looks like Power Rangers fan videos in a good way. I guess itnis given that modern toku makers grew up on it in the 80s.
I think the stunts getting gutted in the 90's did more to ruin the shows than cgi. No one's swinging across canyons on wires or jumping off off buildings anymore.
Consistently what I like about older ones are the stunts that could actually kill you, and leads that were actual stuntmen not immediately doubled by 5 other people as soon as the action starts.

I've heard people who visit are surprised how low-tech a lot of Japan is compared to their expectations of some advanced techno-society. They also heavily use landlines, faxes, and cash. The last one makes sense for a low-crime high-trust society but the other two don't. They have weird anachronism to us, but imo it's a marker of one of the last truly "different" developed societies. Europe is mostly Americanized at this point, which is sad.
