I don’t watch the show to see the awful things that happen, I watch the show to see the characters struggling to persevere or find catharsis and beauty in the world in spite of the awful things that happen.
Sufferinggays say this all the time
Don't you think it gets old over time? >The character barely came this super shitty situation, bruised and beaten, and now they are dunked straight into another super shitty situation! I can't want to see them do the exact same thing again, this time maybe with more crying! And then we'll repeat it over and over and over
Which is better?
A world built to justify a story (One Piece)
or
A world built from different stories wielded together (Shrek / DC)
or
A world built well enough that many stories can be told (Star Wars / Middle Earth)
We are in fricking Cinemaphile. The op is clearly asking about Cinemaphile content. This has nothing to do with anything other than blatant softcore pedophilia porn typical of Japan for groomers
The decade barely started
And it probably won't happen, ATLA was an anomaly in American television animation for many reasons.
MAYBE you could consider some animated Star Wars shows but they are so isolated from the rest of the industry it feels weird including them.
funny, i felt no suspense from this.
Granted, i knew absolutely no one here so there's no attachment, but it was obvious the twinks were going to win, it was only a matter of when, and through what anime bullshit.
Honestly, i was kinda of rooting for the big guy, just to see if he would put up a fight, give the twinks an actual struggle.
There really aren't any Western animated series of AtLA's quality that have been released in the last few years. Sad but true.
Speaking of Chinese animated series, the Lord of the Mysteries adaptation looks like it could be good. The prose of the source material is pretty shit, but by most accounts the worldbuilding behind the story is stellar.
It barely started. Unironically Rick and Morty is probably the closest. The industry is pretty fricked right now, I doubt any new IP will be given the chance to grow like atla did, at least with in the next 5 years.
Invincible. Depends on how pozzed the new season goes. Creator says they have at least 7 seasons planned but he's also a hack so even if it happens that doesn't mean they will be good.
none
creative worldbuilding is dead
>ATLA
>creative worldbuilding
Choose one.
give me examples of creative worldbuilding
Harry potter, Steven Universe, The Simpsons.
>Harry
>Fricking
>Potter
opinion discarded
if anything, Rowling is the antithesis of good worldbuilding. The more you think about the HP world, the worse it becomes and the less sense it makes.
>Harry Potter
Now I know you’re trolling.
Why isn't Steven Universe consi-
>Debuted a decade ago
Oh my fricking god
>creative worldbuilding is dead
counterargument
you only watch this show because a e-girl is tortured
I don’t watch the show to see the awful things that happen, I watch the show to see the characters struggling to persevere or find catharsis and beauty in the world in spite of the awful things that happen.
i watched this show because i thought it was girls last tour

1st is a safe way to make a good story, 3 is a nice way to make a franchise, 2 is bad most of the time
Epstein tier show
If it did not have the awful fetish shit I would show it toy friends.

What's going on with the heads?
ATLA has the most generic, uninspired worldbuuilding ever. The frick you on?
what are your examples of extraordinary, inspired worldbuilding?
The one that's not "le green country, red country, blue country and yellow country"
Helluva Boss
That's easy.
This
copium of the lowest possible quality
>okay
>so our main character is just a normal kid...
>who finds themselves involved in the secret world of magic!
>also its pretty gay
yawn
You'd be praising it if Luz was a boy.
Nope the show was still a dog doo pile of wasted potential.
didn't even mention the main characters gender in my post bub
Then it'd just be an even more paper-thin Harry Potter knockoff.
Sounds like kino to me.
They aren't even remotely simmilar
i mean
katara is in both shows
>Worldbuilding
>All but vanishes after the first season
You're lucky Amphibia didn't premiere a few years later
Not as good as TOH.
there'll never be any cartoon given the leeway needed to be the next Avatar. At least not for a while.
The decade barely started

Anon, 2024 is around the corner.
2020-2021 were lost years
Yep modern people are sheep
It was gonna be Pantheon but then they killed it.
Pantheon was only a 2-season plan
And yet they still cancelled it and left the already produced second season to rot
Season 2 is coming out on Prime, but only(?) in Australia and New Zealand.
Adventure Time, Steven Universe and Owl House are waaay better. Get with the times, gramps.
Steven Universe has some interesting ideas but fumbles almost all of them and wastes too much time with uninteresting side characters
The Mandalorian
Fog Hill of Five Elements is the only correct answer.
It premiered its season 2 last month. The last battle of this season was epic.

Flashy xianxia power wankery with zero originality or substance. All xianxia is fundamentally the same.
>Chinese origin
This is not Cinemaphile. Do you homosexuals think Avatar is a Japanese anime?

Avatar is unprecedented, there’s nothing like it before or since.
>anime for soccer moms
the current anime boom is making sure there won't be anything to take its place
The live action version I guess
what were they thinking
Why are they Asian? That's racist.
Still cant understand how Aaron Ehazs made ATLA and then made this. The two are worlds apart in quality
>2020s
It was kinda good but the 3d lagging around was really awful. Also not enough claudia.
We got none. Is that new game any good? Having a no-name dev seems like a bad sign. Not being a fighting game also hurts it.
The Dragon Prince
This is the only show announced that I could see coming close to scratching that itch
