Hard Boiled and Terminator 2. Tiger On Beat gets honorable mention for having the craziest final 20 minutes of any action movie ever. I've heard that Tiger Cage 2 is crazy as well but haven't seen it yet.
Close, but it's actually Police Story.
Rumble has frick all action scenes in it. It's got some great emotional moments and is a really fun movie with excellent use of the NY setting, but it is not even in the running for best action movie.
Wheels on Meals is an entertaining film with an incredible final act but also spends more time on plot/comedy than action for the majority of the film. Something like Drunken Master 2 or Rush Hour 2 might be Jackie's best in terms of pure action.
Brother let me tell you, I’ve been saying, “don’t hit me with those negative waves” for like 25 years now. I just always felt he seemed out of place, not that it ruined the experience for me or anything. It’s along the lines of in Saving Private Ryan where the sniper guy is looking at where the german sniper is and says, “that’s rad dude”. It just feels a little out of place.
Now let me go put a wiener sheath on so maybe she thinks it’s a 9 inch islnstesd of a 7,5
It's probably The Matrix just by virtue of combining the qualities of Western action movies, that have actual scripts and characters, and Hong Kong's much higher quality stuntwork and fight choreography.

Oh yeah, I can hear the predator changing his fov in his thermals. Sometimes I would make the same noise in mine. The way sometimes you gotta make that nvg turn on sound effect yourself.
Uh ironic that you're talking about testosterone but didn't reply to me directly, homosexual, but as a guy that posted The Matrix it's debatable if Predator is even an action movie.
Look, Predator rules but it has roughly two action sequences and a scene of Jesse Ventura unloading on shrubbery. It's 50% horror and 50% action at best.
It has the battle with the Guerillas, the fighting retreat against the Predator, and the final battle with the Predator.
You can be an action movie without having Jackie Chan acrobatically disposing of endless roomfuls of nobodies.
Yeah, and that's not much compared to anything mentioned in this thread. This shouldn't be controversial, it was since it's inception pitched as a slasher movie with action heroes.

Your criteria for action movies seem to be some Dynasty Warriors bullshit with the bare framework of a plot. By that standard, Matrix doesn't qualify, it spends an enormous amount of time with pseudo philosophy and other silliness.

No? If were picking the "greatest" action movie of all time then it should be something with great action and a great script. Most golden age HK movies don't qualify for the latter and most 80s action movies don't qualify for the former.

And you're gonna claim the Matrix has a great script? It's a reasonable fresh script, but not a particularly good one. Typical Chosen One stuff with a cyberpunk coat of varnish on it.

Not him but... Matrix does really have a great script
He's wrong about "greatest action movie" needing to have some deep drama or whatever, though. Simplistic "hero saves the day" plots are thousands of years old stories that are timeless for a reason: People like that stuff. Just because something is cliched and predictable to our over-exposed brains doesn't make it bad

Matrix threw out some interesting new concepts, but the basic plotline is Chosen One/Wise Master 101. And the premise of robots needing people as power sources, while visually exciting, is exceedingly dumb.
And most of it's action is camera gimmickry.

You say that like it's a bad thing. It's a timeless story that is effective when it's told well. In The Matrix, it's told well
I'm not comparing The Matrix to Citizen Kane or anything but it is a very well told simple story that is overflowing with style and creativity (and cool action, obviously)

I guess if we're going to compare it to all scripts ever written it's not that great. I'm just saying it combines the high concept, usually sci-fi plot that most of the GOAT western action films possess with the high quality action choreography from HK. Personally, would I rather watch Robocop or Predator or any given Jackie Chan film? Yeah, but I'm not just picking my personal favorite action films here.

Mad max Road Warrior
Close, but it's actually Police Story.
Police Story suffers from the villains not being intimidating or threatening, they're just a joke for Jackie to push around
I'll concede that, but my opinion stands.

Unironically.
overlong PG-13 slop
Severely underrated movie. Should have been made 10-15 years later.
The Gauntlet
no that would be mad max fury road
girlboss wankcringe
>girlboss
sorry your manhood is threatened
also Theron is so beautiful I'd marry her
also the male protag literally saves everybody and is way too OP
whatever, we're still getting a furiousa movie before mad max 5 so it's girlboss nonsense
The plot of Furiosa is her surviving the war between Dementus (Hemsworth) and Immortan, and ingratiating herself so Immortan lets her serve him.
Predator
it's a slasher, not an action movie
Terminator 2

Aliens
Predator
or The Raid.

We will all be old men and Predator will still stand the test of time. It's pure testosterone-kino.
>Matrix
No.
My buddies and I still yell “Dillion!” At each other with bad accents, borderline putting on the moron voice.
You son of a b***h!
CIA got you pushin’ too many pen-cils?
Even the sound effects used for the Predator are completely iconic.
Oh yeah, I can hear the predator changing his fov in his thermals. Sometimes I would make the same noise in mine. The way sometimes you gotta make that nvg turn on sound effect yourself.
Fantastic score, over-the-top characters, an awesome villain, utterly memorable lines, utter carnage...Predator is literally a perfect Action Movie.
Uh ironic that you're talking about testosterone but didn't reply to me directly, homosexual, but as a guy that posted The Matrix it's debatable if Predator is even an action movie.
>it's debatable if Predator is even an action movie.
It's a shame you don't have a tripcode that shows you are moronic, for clarity.
Look, Predator rules but it has roughly two action sequences and a scene of Jesse Ventura unloading on shrubbery. It's 50% horror and 50% action at best.
It has the battle with the Guerillas, the fighting retreat against the Predator, and the final battle with the Predator.
