......I'd agree..... but his death was so meaningless. The Buu saga is full of great leaps forward only to pull them straight back. Had Vegeta killed Buu I'd have left him dead. Instead he fails, and it makes his sacrifice feel cheap...... besides, you kinda knew they'd bring him back.
Vegeta should have been gutted by Krillin at the end of the Vegeta Saga. His "development" was surface level and mostly offscreen and this sacrifice is the most overrated, unnecessary piece of bait ever produced in anime.

many agree, me included. it was a natural stopping point with Goku dead and Gohan willing to take over for goku (as Earth's protector) by surpassing him. nothing after this was as interesting as anything that came before characterwise, so they might as well just pull the plug here.
Then there could have been a sequel series following Gohan and leading up to Pan being the 3rd later on then with maybe her own show (like gt kind of was) that would've been interesting

Not really that crazy. Generally puts the power level garbage where it belongs: at the fricking bottom if not erased from existence completely. I'm not a huge fan of Dragon Ball, but I at least respect it for being more about adventure and the characters than just fricking stupid yelling for three episodes to power up.
Dragon Ball Z is predominantly garbage, especially Cell, who is basically just Frieza 2.0.
Not sure why that dumb butthole is so popular. He's kinda creepy, but that's only at the beginning, and quickly fades into just being another generic butthole.
It'd still be more than you're capable of, evidently. My ass can actually formulate opinions and discuss topics, opposed to your brain, which is good for... ?
They put the entire red ribbon army in god tier? I've never heard someone rate the entire thing that high, they must be high cause.. What....the...actual...frick. The various general sagas are padded as frick and incredibly boring. Muscle tower and General Blue are pretty terrible offenders. Not to mention the finale featuring the Bulma and the gang as a B plot that goes nowhere. Mercenary Tao and Korrin training are stand out and great parts.
>Muscle Tower and General Blue are kino.
Name one thing General Blue does that's Kino.
And Muscle Tower is looney Tunes tier, if you consider that kino then I guess it's great for you.
Based taste. In hindsight as an adult I would have loved DBZ staying more grounded, less about the Saiyans and still making Tien, Yamcha, Krillin, etc be useful and interesting fighters
If they're able to make another Super Hero-style film, he could be given the chance to shine.
Dragon Ball has needed a proper B Team for a while. Its fine to outpace main characters in power as the series goes, but it's frustrating when they get completely axed from the series because of it.
Give me a B team with Tien, Chiaotsu, Yamcha, Krillen, and Roshi with proper plots and substories next to the main stuff featuring Goku and Vegeta
Red Ribbon saga almost killed Dragonball in Japan because it was so unpopular. Why do you think Toriyama added Dr Slump characters and Tao pai pai to the arc.
Why? These two had zero relationship and this moment comes out of nowhere.
Not to mention the sacrifice means absolutely nothing in the moment or aftermath.
Why are people so attracted to anti-hero archetypes? I mean I like them too, but I prefer they actually have some fricking character. I mean Jesus Christ, Piccolo has more development watching Gohan's survival training and talking to himself than Vegeta has over 200 episodes.
Vegeta got neutered hard in he buu saga. He just hangs around earth training and dicking down bulma. He went from proud warrior race alien man that went on constant adventures and conquering planets to just being near his son. Vegeta should have fricked off to space or something.
If you read the manga or watch an cut version, it's the Frieza Saga, easy. Great pacing, tension and comedy. Fights are still fun and dynamic, Krillin remains semi-relevant up until the final boss. The Ginyu force alone encapsulated this mix of comedy and action. Gohan is maturing in a satisfying way. Piccolo completes his journey from villain to good guy. Vegeta is ruthless and exciting, not yet a hormonal jobber weighing down the story.
Agreed.
The introduction of Vegeta and Trunks' relationship is the downfall of the series. Because it takes up too much time and has zero weight. He's a good guy now so he needs a son so we believe he's a good guy. We're supposed to believe that Trunks is determined to stop Cell while afraid to upset his father by showing his true power level. Just really bad writing all around, but people without dads eat it up.
The people who still like Trunks are 100% still caught up in that 10/10 first impression and how neat the Android Saga seemed when it started.
Dr. Gero would've unironically been a better villain.
You don't need another pompous, flamboyant bad guy with multiple forms after Frieza. Gero's cunning, calculating nature would've worked. Before he died he was like a wolf being hunted.
I would love to hear what toriyama had planned for Gero before being pressured to switch villains, although I have no doubt toriyama has forgotten by now

I agree Namek is by far the best. The race for the dragon balls by all the different factions and the tactical moves/frick ups by each party, which blends well into the Frieza fights and satisfying ending when the Namekians leave to their new home and it is revealed Goku is still alive out there somewhere. Androids/cell was decent but Trunks just came off as a OC donut steel character and it was mostly just them training with no significant events until the cell games which was like two characters fighting cell 1 on 1.
That said, my favourite 1 v 1 fight of the whole series was Piccolo vs 17.
Frieza Saga >lots of characters get their moment in the sun >high stakes... heroes are punching up the whole time right until Goku goes Super Saiyan >the original ending with Goku and crew dying and Gohan, Piccolo, and Bulma being the only survivors is the highest order of kino
>Gohan, Piccolo, and Bulma being the only survivors
If Piccolo is alive, the Dragon Balls are back and someone is getting revived. There's no way that only those three would be alive without doing something about it.
For me its the Saiyan saga. The story is simple and doesn't get lost in characters continuously one-upping each other with powerups, the fights are among the best in the series, Goku is the right level of serious, and most of the z-fighters get to contribute to the battles in some meaningful way.
>mfw rewatching the uncut Saiyan/Vegeta Saga
I mean the titular content is pretty entertaining but Nappa lasts too long and holy god the filler is so bad.
Also Gohan's tail growing back is kinda lame and feels like the fight was written into a hole. I mean damn, all that training and the kid doesn't even do anything.
I haven't rewatched the anime version in a longtime but the manga is pretty well paced and the nappa fight is nowhere near as long as future fights in the series become. I'll give you that Gohan growing his tail back is dumb especially considering piccolo blew up the moon so he could have just left Gohans tail on, gives me the impression toryama changed his mind.
It's worse than just full blown episodes being filler and easily skipped. Most episodes have filler scenes, so you have to pay attention while skipping.
I'm rewatching the series for the first time in like a decade and am not skipping anything, for research purposes. It's fricking brutal. I swear to Shenron Chi-Chi faints like 25 fricking times during the Saiyan Saga.
is this even up for debate? GT had a lot of lows with a few highs while Super is all lows no highs. GT tried to be badass while Super barely tries and has reduced super saiyan to ice cream flavors.
Gonna have to go with Cell Games with Frieza a very close 2nd. Cell only heats Frieza cause it takes place on Earth and the time travel stuff. Frieza saga is the ultimate kino.
In theory Cell makes sense as the most deadliest villain for having the powers of all the heroes and villains, including Frieza. The Android saga would have been more kino if the original timeline happened, and everyone dies, then Trunks going back in time started the new timeline with Cell, and Goku dying anyway Gohan taking the lead like the original timeline.
Dragon Ball peaked with Goku punching through Piccolo, that was my desktop background for a while, what a manga spread ..
Z peaked early with the Freiza fight and Goku unlocking what was at the time The Legendary Super Saiyan™ before all the SS grade 2, and SSJ3 nonsense that was the rest of Z
GT is actually quite good, and it's hard to pick a best saga in there honestly. watch that shit if you haven't.
Super, it exists, much like GT, it has its moments, but the movies are godtier, even if you skip the anime or manga, the movies are worth watching, i choose them. Super Broly isn't just a great DB film, it's a celebration of the medium. pure fight animation porn.

Namek saga, specifically when freiza kills vegeta and vegeta explains saiyan supremacy to goku and why goku must avenge the saiyans. This was the highlight of the entire series
gohan was first planned to carry the series post cell but tori couldnt make it work and why he brought back goku, i imagine this movie was his second attempt knowing that giving him another saiyan form is not a possibility
Goku should have died when Namek exploded. It was the perfect end for him. You can still do the androids but make them weaker than Frieza. Only have Gohan become SSJ when he fights Cell.
Also, Buu arc wold instead have been more of a comedy arc, similar to Dragonball, and it would be a sign off note showing the galaxy is in good hands with the current generation.
[...]
Also, Buu arc wold instead have been more of a comedy arc, similar to Dragonball, and it would be a sign off note showing the galaxy is in good hands with the current generation.
you could also have Gohan ascend beyond SSJ not into SSJ2 etc but into his Ultimate form
Very bad take. Many of the Cell arc's best moments involve Super Saiyans >Trunks killing Frieza >Vegeta asking 19 if its feels fear >Big Bang Attack >Final Flash
This series should just exist as movies at this point. The Super tv show was garbage outside of a few segments with good animation, the Super Dragon Ball Heroes thing is even worse garbage and the manga seemed like it would be interesting at the start of the Moro saga but then became boring.
The Tournament of Power was the worst idea they could have done. They had 12 Universes worth of potential and they immediately blew their load by introducing every one of the toughest fighters and having almost all of them be stupid-looking jobbers.
Battle of Gods was pretty good, Broly and Super Hero were pure kino. I don't care about any of the new characters who were introduced outside of these movies. And yes Resurrection F wasn't great, but it was 10 times better than the tv show version.
Cell Saga. It was like the cool postgame content to DBZ where you get to go beyond max level and have crazy encounters.
>final boss from main game comes back but gets fricked up by power creep >Vegeta and Bulma's son is fricking cool and bad ass with cool story to add to the party >Hyperbolic Time Chamber training >Vegeta jobbing several times >introduction of the most frickable Android 18 >all about pushing even further beyond Super Saiyan which was lvl100 of the main game >Cell is an awesome amalgam of characters with his own distinct goals and personality but also a personality that mirrors the Z Fighter he faces in each form >Goku vs Cell best choreographed fight in the series calling back to Dragon Ball tournament saga fights within a ring >Warp Kamehameha, Big Bang Attack, Final Flash >Gohan ascending to be the new guardian of Earth wile Goku moves on (ignoring Buu saga) >Mr. Satan
But it's true. The script and everything are all consistently better, granny Goku be damned

Again, you're just going on circles on this topic.
You have a fixation on the leaked audio from the Vic case even though I never said a word about it.

It's SO fricking transparent

Nobody cares what you think.
You just say same thing every single discussion.
You've formulated this opinion on your own and nothing will pry you from it, so shut the frick up and stop replying to me.
>"he's just a mutant freak don't worry about it"
Broly isn't just a mutant freak, he's THE legendary super saiyan whose existence was established since early Z. Although when Goku turned super saiyan for the first time everyone thought it was the legendary super saiyan transformation but Toriyama retconned it to create Broly.
Also, the given explanation for Jiren being an invincible mary sue isn't that he's from another universe, it's literally that "he just trained really hard".
I like that Jiren was so strong for no reason other than he was mad. He trained hard to focus it into pinpoint precision, like via his mediation, but it was his anger and distrust of all things other than himself that was his real fuel. He was so mad, he tried to murder all of Goku's friends and family right in front of him, just because misery loves company.
Sometimes being mad is enough. It isn't original, but it works.
What's your Super endgame theories? >Brack Freiza kills Beerus and takes his GoD powers >Z-Fighters kick his ass with another butthole but with the assistance of Uub and Granolah dies during the fight >Broly is crowned new GoD after learning to control his anger cause unlike Goku and Bejita-sama he has no other responsibilities.
sean schemmel couldn't even pronounce kaioken for fricking decades
funimation and the dub are a joke and you are a tasteless child for liking and supporting them
I wish they kept the dragon ball movies as noncanon side stories to release alongside the main show rather than making them part of the continuity
They filled a very special niche when they had the ability to throw characters like Cooler at us and say "Frieza actually had a super powerful brother with an extra transformation, and don't worry about the implications of ANY of this"
My hope is that the CG animation we got with Super Hero gives Toie the ability to pump films out in this same vein for dirt cheap while the return of Super is airing. I really miss it.

Namek saga, specifically when freiza kills vegeta and vegeta explains saiyan supremacy to goku and why goku must avenge the saiyans. This was the highlight of the entire series
SSJ3 will always be my favorite form
>make Gohan and Piccolo the main characters
>it becomes kino
gohan was first planned to carry the series post cell but tori couldnt make it work and why he brought back goku, i imagine this movie was his second attempt knowing that giving him another saiyan form is not a possibility
Goku should have died when Namek exploded. It was the perfect end for him. You can still do the androids but make them weaker than Frieza. Only have Gohan become SSJ when he fights Cell.
There, I fixed Dragonball
very based take
Also, Buu arc wold instead have been more of a comedy arc, similar to Dragonball, and it would be a sign off note showing the galaxy is in good hands with the current generation.
you could also have Gohan ascend beyond SSJ not into SSJ2 etc but into his Ultimate form
Very bad take. Many of the Cell arc's best moments involve Super Saiyans
>Trunks killing Frieza
>Vegeta asking 19 if its feels fear
>Big Bang Attack
>Final Flash
>Dragon Ball: 9 sagas
>Dragon Ball Z: 2 sagas
frick off
I don't recognize a lot of this, is this a new season of DBZA?
Cell Saga. It was like the cool postgame content to DBZ where you get to go beyond max level and have crazy encounters.
>final boss from main game comes back but gets fricked up by power creep
>Vegeta and Bulma's son is fricking cool and bad ass with cool story to add to the party
>Hyperbolic Time Chamber training
>Vegeta jobbing several times
>introduction of the most frickable Android 18
>all about pushing even further beyond Super Saiyan which was lvl100 of the main game
>Cell is an awesome amalgam of characters with his own distinct goals and personality but also a personality that mirrors the Z Fighter he faces in each form
>Goku vs Cell best choreographed fight in the series calling back to Dragon Ball tournament saga fights within a ring
>Warp Kamehameha, Big Bang Attack, Final Flash
>Gohan ascending to be the new guardian of Earth wile Goku moves on (ignoring Buu saga)
>Mr. Satan
The warp Kamehameha is probably my favorite moment in all of DBZ
For me it's this
I raise you
>super
>dub
what the frick man
if i was a jannie, you would be bannned
The dub saves Super my guy
I want disgusting mutt EOPs to frick off
But it's true. The script and everything are all consistently better, granny Goku be damned
I hate you trannies and how you feel the need to "localize" Japanese mediums.
I don't care because I'm right.
Goku is a literal moron child in a man's body, he honestly feels someone out of Dr. Slump. Granny Goku is infinitely better than shrieking israelite Goku
Super isn't something that should be saved
Funimation is an awful, terrible company that completely butchered dragon ball by censoring, changing dialogue and cutting up scenes
they also took out the score and put their own american 90s rock synth
if a localization team did this today to a modern anime, they'd get crucified
all the voice actors are buttholes, schemmel and sabat are particularly large pieces of shit
>Boo hoo all these random things from 30 years ago that were completely fixed in the past 20 years
Literally who cares? 14 year olds in 95?
Why are they pieces of shit? Because they made hilarious voiceovers calling people homosexuals as their characters?
You’re on the wrong site Black person
>I have to defend the honor of a multi-million dollar anime localization company!
it sucks that nobody will ever tell you how much of a pathetic manchild you are
oh well
>you're on the wrong site
says the person championing an english dub for an anime? haha what the frick
/new/ and its consequences have been a disaster for this imageboard
You didn’t address the central point. What makes them bad people?
The Japanese VO of DB/DBZ is atrocious. Goku especially is unbearable
>You didn’t address the central point.
Yes, I have.
Again, you're just going on circles on this topic.
You have a fixation on the leaked audio from the Vic case even though I never said a word about it.
You just want to keep bringing it up to paint me out as some bleeding heart leftist troony or something so you can safely pat yourself on the back and tell yourself to disregard anything I might have to say
It's SO fricking transparent
>The Japanese VO of DB/DBZ is atrocious. Goku especially is unbearable
Nobody cares what you think.
You just say same thing every single discussion.
You've formulated this opinion on your own and nothing will pry you from it, so shut the frick up and stop replying to me.
The dub is way better idiot
I already beat ya to it, homie
I think Jiren is one of the worst characters in the entire franchise and that's saying a lot when the franchise has a ton of shit characters
Even Broly had a better explanation for his unstoppable power, Jiren is just a mary sue
Being from a different universe is a better explanation than "he's just a mutant freak don't worry about it"
>"he's just a mutant freak don't worry about it"
Broly isn't just a mutant freak, he's THE legendary super saiyan whose existence was established since early Z.
It isn't original, but it works.
>but it works.
It didn't work. Jiren was incredibly boring.
If we are talking OG Broly then I agree, but it's still too powerful for that to be an acceptable explanation after god ki is introduced
Jiren was that strong because he's fueled by his strong desire to best his brother. simple as
Filtered
how can anyone stop el hermano?
>Gohan Blanco is now canon
so you think these charts were satire? no mi amigo. they're leaks.
Spic
He's one of the worst because he was never given the chance to have a personality until the very, very end.
How is Jiren being as strong as he is any worse than Frieza?
Jiren just has no personality until the final three episodes, which is dull.
Gohan needs his own moves. All he ever gets to be is discount Goku or discount Piccolo.
pov: the world's strongest human demands your senzu
Krillin got all sorts of training from deities, unlocks, etc. He barely qualifies as human anymore. Step aside. Mr.Satan is the real strongest human.
What's your Super endgame theories?
>Brack Freiza kills Beerus and takes his GoD powers
>Z-Fighters kick his ass with another butthole but with the assistance of Uub and Granolah dies during the fight
>Broly is crowned new GoD after learning to control his anger cause unlike Goku and Bejita-sama he has no other responsibilities.
I just want the time skip already my man
sean schemmel couldn't even pronounce kaioken for fricking decades
funimation and the dub are a joke and you are a tasteless child for liking and supporting them
If you watched DBZ dub on TV growing up as an EOP mutt, your opinions do not matter.
>Gohan firing the Makankōsappō instead of a Kamehameha was PURE FRICKING KINO
It's good to see his old hair again but he needs his own move
Those Dragon Monsters from the GT saga were so fricking weird, I have a very faint memory of the whole story but the fights were pretty insane
Only three of them were really fighters, the rest were weird jobbers.
I really miss it.
i can forgive bad art, bad writing and all that
what i can't forgive is putting Super in the 9am saturday morning cartoon slot for young children
Meanwhile in America it's on at midnight during the "Adult Swim" block.
I wonder what the japs make of that
Anyone who says Jiren is boring or poorly-written just doesn't 'get it'.
I thought he was obviously just supposed to be a Superman parallel, boringness and all
Goku is the superman parallel
How is Jiren remotely like Superman?
>Goku is the superman parallel
Goku = Constantly breaking through his limits
Superman = Has no limits.
Goku Vs Superman is damn near literal unstoppable force vs immovable object.
He became a meme because he was boring and poorly-written. He's the Morbius of Dragon Ball.
>T-this new training is real intense, Mr. Piccolo!
>Some gay weeb whinging about the dub
Falconer>gay jap music
Shimmel>granny
Why does this pillar of the franchise never get any attention?
No dub
That'll do it
I couldn't get through it anon...it's not good
But it's fun!
Cell
