Seconded, it really is going to depend. I marathoned this show back a few years back and ended up stopping roughly around season 14 because the show just wasn't catching me anymore. The stories were just starting to feel too hackneyed without any charm to fill in for the holes. Everyone has their own stopping point. You'll find yours.
Oh, but there are a couple later season episodes worth checking out like Barthood.
Honestly, I like The City of New York Vs Homer Simpson as a series finale. Unfortunately, that’s the first episode of season nine, so if you’re a physical media fan you’ll need to have the rest of the crappy season to watch it. If you’re a streaming fan, be aware that there’s a missing episode (season 3 episode 1, Stark Raving Dad). If you’re a piracy fan, you’re Gucci, just pirate from season 1 episode 1 to season 9 episode 1
Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire - The City Of New York Vs Homer Simpson = the perfect show
That's the episode where Michael Jackson voices a character and they removed it to advertize the renewed push on the phony sex crime accusations to distract from the actual sex crimes of living Hollywood figures.
I was doing a watchthrough of the good stuff over the past year or so (I'm a very slow TV watcher) and recently I've just kinda ended it around about the start of Season 9
I know there's good episodes for a while yet but it felt to me that the show had just grown old by that point. It wasn't all that engaging to me any more.
If you want the perfect ending but don't care about continuity, quality or funny jokes then season 11.
If you care about all the above then season 8.
If you are a purist then season 3.
If you don't care that much about quality, then season 13 or 14.
I can't watch anything past season 15. Quality drops after season 8, gets worse up to season 11 and it becomes unwatchable after season 15. To be honest, it depends on how much you care about quality. Some episodes from season 13 are mediocre but still watchable but I would say season 8 is the peak and season 11 is the ending. Then season 12-15 is early zombie: you can enjoy it as long as you turn off your brain. Post season 15 though, not even weed or boozze could make it enjoyable.
>The first 2 seasons of Simpsons are awful tho.
You are either baiting you have no soul. Those are the most human and emotional seasons.
I'm not baiting, these seasons are not different from the ones from 10 and onwards, hell it was on the third episode that Lisa drama about being "too smart" starts and wont slow down until s3.
I think it's good until around 15. If your playing it safe I would say season 12 or 13. But I am a wild man and don't mind the minor dip in quility.
Just keep going until you don’t want to.

Why? Does FOX own rights still? I thought Disney had them all now.

Dude, some of them weren't even bad.
That episode is still on Amazon Prime though.

You could search lists for the few modern gems scattered through the middle and latter seasons.
The Simpsons ended after "They'll never stop the Simpsons" song started playing
Even that song is incrediblely dated, everything happened on that list at least 10 years ago
I couldn't go after 9, after that I only saw a few episodes of each season and yeah none were good.
Move to Futurama and stop at season 3 of that too. After Futurama move to ATHF.

it's in s11 that Homer will have Maude killed because they confessed they were out of ideas, so stop around that.

it really does. I also tolerate seasons 10 to 15,but anything after that is beyond horrible.

no,they are not
