This. Unironically, James Cameron raised the bar.
After the way of water, and to a lesser extent Top Gun, these bog standard "blockbusters" just don't cut the gravy for modern audiences any more.
Don't care about the cgi, woke stuff, but would it kill them to just write a fricking coherent script with believable characters not being complete buttholes for no reason?
all of the above honestly, and then other reasons like post-COVID theater attendance, writing quality split with the TV industry, pandering to international audiences resulting in bland plots, streaming making paying $15-20 for one movie seem obscene, probably more. There’s no one reason, it’s a ton of shit that’s killing the film industry. Frankly I don’t care if it does at this point, I can’t remember the last time I felt a damn thing watching the focus group approved slop they put out
I think we’re seeing a complete recalibration towards the kind of films that people are willing to go see in theaters. The cancer of the past 15 years of franchise filmmaking is probably close to dying. I can only hope several movie studios close over this and the ones that are left have to adapt to survive. Auteur cinema resurgence perhaps?
I hate to say it and I forget the name of the bill but in 2012~ Obama legalized the use of propaganda against American citizens. All the “movies” you see are literally federally funded racial hitpieces, not art or entertainment.
Ah great thanks. So those are the 3 things that are basically dooming America. >Smith-Mundt act >Patriot Act >Citizens United
These three things basically mean we’re slaves with no say in politics.
You can still vote, but between those and ballot harvesting (practiced by both parties) it takes more and more votes to overcome the brainwashed and the rigging.
I think "M3gan" is a good example of what kind of movies can be profitable now: mid budget crowd pleasers with smart marketing. Of course for every M3gan there's a dozen genre films that came and went without having much of an impact (The Pope's Exorcist, Plane, Consecration, etc). So a low budget isn't a sure fire solution, but it certainly leads to a more interesting theater experience than big budget spectacle after big budget spectacle.
I also think theaters need to scale ticket price to budget, or at least have some kind of first run "super saver" series in the $3-5 range for these kind of movies. It's insane to think the ticket for Fast X and Skinamarink cost the same. Just get people in the habit of going to the theater again and rolling the dice on flicks they've never heard of.
It should be like video games where price scales to budget. A $200 million tentpole blockbuster can cost $15.00. And an indie or midbudget movie should cost $3.00-$7.00. Because right now, those small scale films go direct to streaming with little fanfare.
>I also think theaters need to scale ticket price to budget
Way to kill any incentive for low/mid budget flicks to get made and for theaters to show them.
There are so many entertainment choices now that I have to think a movie will be blow my socks off amazing to go see it in a theater, and Hollywood keeps making shit that looks like garbage
Netflix just released Extraction 2 that is a well made action movie. I didn't even need to leave my home to watch it. Some of my friends came this Friday, we sat down with bears and guacamole, and had a great time seeing the movie and shooting shit.

JDW is not great casting in any role, he just fricking sucks as an actor and no one likes him. Tenet also didn't have a coherent storyline to market. Oppenheimer you know you're getting Cilian Murphy, RDJ, Damon, Gary Oldman, etc. and that Nolan will make the explosions look and sound amazing in a theater.
It means they can lie about anything through official channels. And any website or studio or tech or news network or Google (which is actually called Alphabet) that is an asset of the intel agencies counts as "official".

>What is the cause of all the flops this year?
Lack of sexy women
When they started to take the hot women out of the movies the box office started to drop especially in capeshit but it is also funny that billionaires get poor supporting LGBT and trannies, they deserve the failure
The original story of Flashpoint is great if they adapted it faithfully it would be a hit for Warner and they could add more to the story.
Across the Spider-verse would have made a billion dollars with a better plot, no LGBT shit and more Spider-Man focused story, they should have brought back Black Cat and the original Spider-Woman next to Super Mario Across the Spider-verse is a flop.
The Flash was never a popular character and normal movie goers got tired of capeshit already. Doesnt help they fricking released blockbusters back to back every week. Like people dont usually go to the movies weekly
>The Flash was never a popular character
I think this is hard for alot of internet lifers to understand.. No one really gives a shit about The Flash and he should have never been a tentpole summer blockbuster.. Especially when betting the farm.
Top it off with Ezra Miller, never drew a dime.. Not including all his weird shit in Hawaii. The guy is just not talented.. And he's definitely not a star.
No one gives a shit about DC in general though, that's the problem. Aquaman became their biggest movie only because Asians and Pajeets loved it for some reason
Confusing stupid, plots, politics over entertainment. They're making films that no one wants to watch. They used to make entertain action and adventure films for teenage boys, now they make woke crap for 24 year old lesbians.
DCEU was hot garbage only supported out of contrarian spite for Marvel. I don't even like marvel but now that this piece of shit universe is dead and buried I'm gonna say it loud.
Transformers is a tired franchise where every movie has the same plot (human meet robot, evil robot hunts them, optimus gruesomely kills evil bot).
The optics of DC are bad and people no longer see them as Marvel's competitors and/or a boomer Batman coming back isn't enough incentive to watch The Flash.
Elemental and Ruby's premises aren't very interesting.
Spider-Verse has none of the shit that harms the others, which is why it's doing well.
The funniest thing about elemental is apparently it's great but the marketing was so shit it only showed the bad parts. I actually think a lot of the problems with this year is that advertising doesn't work in a post covid world and some companies haven't realized that fake shill bot accounts work a lot better
I already said this but knew I’d be proven right bc you idiots will eat up any slop given. BUT HOW ABOUT THE FLASH MOVIE JUST BE ABOUT THE FRICKING FLASH???
NO ONE GIVES A FRICK ABOUT THAT OLD ASS b***h WHO PLAYED BATMAN
NO ONE GIVES A FRICK ABOUT SUPER GIRL
WHEN GOING TO SEE FRICKING FLASH
God dammit I hate these fans.
People have bigger TVs and can just wait to watch stuff at home. Also theaters themselves are causing the issues with tickets and concessions being insanely high. Like 10 Things I Hate About You joke, but it's actually reality now, high.
>That kinda proves him, IMAX was the best way to watch that movie
Most of the country doesn't have access to IMAX screens and the movie made over a billion dollars you fricking tard.
>Movie theaters are dying and even the industry acknowledged it with Top Gun's success
Wrong homosexual. What Top Gun Mav proved was that people will go to a basic theater to see a good movie. Holy frick kys
Streaming services, The pandemic. pricey ticket/concessions at the theater, Not enough investment in more novel ways of filmmaking. Also, the superhero genre is losing it's wow factor. We've seen Batman over half a dozen times in recent years along with Superman etc. And when you can sit in the comfort of your own home why spend extra at a theater? Most big screen televisions are in a majority of people's budgets now. You can get a nice LG OLED or Sony Bravia and watch the movie right there at home while getting a theater like experience. Scarlett Johansson tried to sue Disney + a couple years ago because Black Widow was released early on the streaming platform from theaters decreasing her earnings on the film as a result. Streaming services have allowed audiences to save a considerable amount of their cash and it's also more convenient when you don't have to travel or carpool to see a new film. Seeing movies used to be more of a collective experience. As you can tell, that's rapidly changing.
Capeshit has been oversaturated for almost 20 years now. Hollywood milked that cow dry. Simple as. Normies expected a grand finale to wrap it up with a bow with Endgame. Now Hollywood is just scraping the bottom of the barrel with characters like The Flash, Antman, Captain Marvel, etc
you live in a world of miscast Barry Allen not being played by some gorgeous blonde white chad instead being played by a violent twink. Ezra's non stop bad press for the last two years did wonders for this movie or do you think people would miss years of bad press?
It's pretty easy to see why it flopped. It's coming off a string of failures for the franchise, the star is controversial, they brought back Batman from 30 years ago and the villains from a middling Superman film from 10 years ago, the rest of the cameos were a photo montage of shit either too old, not well liked, or shit no one ever heard of. It just seems desperate.
I agree with OP's points. I would like to add that some of the franchises that Hollywood has shown off of late are already selling out audiences.Transformers is in its 7th movie or something. fast and furious in movie 10 . DC's capeshit is a flop with bad cgi and Miller is not someone audiences want to see on a screen beyond his schizo crap.Marvel movies are more now than James Bond movies and it did it in just 15 years .It is for these reasons that movies like Mario Bros or top gun become successful.
Issue with capeshit is there is a market for it but the market has been oversaturated for years along with steadily worse and worse attempts.
Add in almost all these movies require you to now having watched 3 previous films, a tv series, and read a book to full understand everything its completely understandable why they losing people.
Best thing to do is the Studios need to massively scale back on the amount of movies made and their overinflated budgets along with toning down the amount of crossover and multiverse tier shit (normal people dont like trying to figure out shit like that). Wont happen but its wishful thinking
He didn't greenlight Flash but remember this idiot wants to sound like he cracked the code but he's as clueless as the rest of them planning movies about D-list generic superhero team no. 12 no one heard about (and forever such hopeless projects will be recommended because Gunn made Guardians of the Galaxy work).
Superhero genre is mediocre already and now that the masses are getting tired it became cool to hate on them or be proud of how indifferent they are. I expect a few alterations to his plans. A few cancellations. Gone are the days when any movie about capeshit nobodies grossed 1 billion for nothing. As for big franchise movies there are a few that enjoy some degree of success in their own right so the playing field is more even now.
I'm surprise that DC hasn't played it safe by making a proper high budget Teen Titans movie by this point. It's an IP that's been popular for 2 decades in animated form but so far, they've only done a shitty low budget live action series for it.
DC and Pixar had too many shit films in a row.
Disney killed Star Wars less films but they had the good sense to stop putting shit in the theater
Not sure what WB is thinking
Looks like a boring movie, with boring characters, fricking boring like most capeshit released after that last avenger movie.
It's funny watching them try and try but they will never be Marvel, not even Marvel will ever be Marvel again.
The one simple reason is that the audience doesn't know what this movie is supposed to be.
Is it standalone? Is it a sequel to something? Is it connected to the Snyder movies (if so, it's not clear how)? Are we supposed to watch something before this one?
Etc...
The overall fatigue over superhero movies adds up to this confusion. And DC is not making it easier.
It's just stupid that at this point DC movies have this sort of weird non-continuity continuity where you don't even know if they're serious about making it all connected or not. And then to make it even more bizarre and unpalatable they pull up Keaton from 30 years ago and produce some new super-chick that everyone is acting like we should already know about but nobody saw before.
Also Ezra looks totally idiotic in literally every single shot.
What a shit morale this movie had. >dude death is a thing that happens, just move on from parental loss
Lol no, I will eternally be sad over it and you can't stop me.
i have a theory that a significant amount of movie sales were driven by people just being bored and going to a movie with friends or family members to fill some time and have something to talk about after. not even movies they cared about seeing, but just some shit they saw on a commercial and said frick it, let's just watch that. then cuckvid happened, places shut down, and people lost the habit of going to see these movies as a default timesink. the quality of hollywood doesn't matter, as normalgays will eat whatever slop gets put in front of them. they've simply moved on to alternative slop, or at least alternative methods of slop delivery ala streaming
my local theater is playing these >The Flash >Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse >Elemental >Transformers: Rise of the Beasts >The Little Mermaid >Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 >Fast X >The Super Mario Bros. Movie
basically all fantasy films for children leading to audience fatigue/market cannibalization
yup, avatar 2 was also in theaters for months
Mario hits the spot for an appealing family film - colorful, PG, and is a standalone film so you don't need to watch all the previous installments to understand what's happening
>Too much CGI? >Too much woke politics? >Too many unoriginal/IP films?
Or maybe that nobody goes to the movies after the pandemic? Did you all forget about that? What are you so confused about? Normies use TikTok instead of driving to the theater.
It's definitely the biggest factor. All of these big franchise films made billions of dollars throughout the 2010s and they're still the most popular movies. The declining box office numbers this year has to be for other reasons, even last year it was better overall. I think it's mainly that people don't care as much about going to the theaters. MCU really fricked everything up
On one hand, that seems plausible. On the other >avatar 2 >top gun 2 >mario
The quality bar just got raised. People won’t go see a movie now unless they’re excited about it,
i have a theory that a significant amount of movie sales were driven by people just being bored and going to a movie with friends or family members to fill some time and have something to talk about after. not even movies they cared about seeing, but just some shit they saw on a commercial and said frick it, let's just watch that. then cuckvid happened, places shut down, and people lost the habit of going to see these movies as a default timesink. the quality of hollywood doesn't matter, as normalgays will eat whatever slop gets put in front of them. they've simply moved on to alternative slop, or at least alternative methods of slop delivery ala streaming
has it right. If you want asses in seats, make something so worth watching that you can’t wait for it to go to streaming
Basically this is the story of current Hollywood >Franchise films get popular in the 2000s (LOTR, Spider-Man, Pirates) >DVD becomes obsolete and replaced by digital >By the 2010s Hollywood completely focuses on franchise movies and nothing else because they can profit from merchandising now that DVD is dead >Streaming services emerge, Hollywood strategy is to dump a ton of garbage on them to gain long-term subscribers >Audiences are trained to only go to theaters for spectacular franchise films that are part of a saga, basically just modern film serials >They don't watch anything else >Corporations start putting new movies on streaming so they can get subscribers, movie theaters lose value >Pandemic and lockdowns arrive >TikTok and other short-format video websites dominate the world >MCU declines, no more ongoing saga to entice people >Now that that movie theaters have lost their allure nobody cares enough about the movies to actually drive to one >Oh yeah and theaters are expensive as frick
I am just really tired of the entire spectrum of media in general everything is just too fricking shit and it kind of feels like the people that used to make good stuff is slowly disappearing or dying out.
I don't want to be a doomer and I am sure there are still a lot of good stuff being released if you dig hard enough but every time i look into whatever has been recently released or announced I can't find much that catches my interest.
i would go to the movies more if the snack bars wasn't so readerly expensive. The popcorn combo was double what i paid for the ticket so i just bought my shit somewhere else.
With the CGI, I don't think it's an issue of "bad CGI" or "too much CGI." The problem (for Hollywood, anyway) is that CGI isn't a selling point anymore. It's super-common, and audiences have seen a lot of kino shit, so it's rare for CGI to impress anymore.
That's why people made so much out of Top Gun using largely practical effects, like putting the actors in real planes. It felt distinct against a sea of CGI, because practical effects have largely fallen by the wayside.
Plus, yeah, practical effects give actors more to work with in terms of performance. You stick a classically trained British actor against a greenscreen with a tennis ball to act against, he's not gonna deliver what he would on a real set (or, God forbid, a location shoot).
Right now Hollywood is really banking on Barbie to be a massive worldwide hit and spark a political dialogue since the whole movie is just a bunch of feminist monologues about how hard it is to be a white woman in America
With a few exceptions, the movies weren't good. Politics are over stated. People see what they want to see, like Mario, M3GAN, Spiderverse, and Guardians 3.
People are sick of superhero movies that they feel like they just have to see out of obligation. When one gets good word of mouth then people will see it, but the business model of "shove random crap in from elsewhere in our franchise" isn't doing anything in-and-of-itself.
I feel bad for Flash fans now the same way I felt bad for Green Lantern fans in 2011. This is your one shot to make a good impression with the masses, and you eat pavement. It disappointed fans of the franchise, it left critics mixed, bad opening weekend. Just a disaster for the character.
i'm a fan of the flash and i don't care that this movie sucks. i've resigned to accept that the speed force and everything that it touches becomes way too autistic to be done correctly
They're all shit
And before the shills and idiots blame COVID, remember >Spider man no way home >Avatar 2 >Top gun Maverick >Super Mario brothers >John wick 4
All did well. Meanwhile movies from established brands like Disney and Warner bros flopped badly. The audiences spoke with their money.
The Flash has a very similar plot to Lightyear.
people dont want a gay main character
make a superman or batman movie
Maybe they should try making good movies?
You try it homosexual
Ok give me 100 million dollars and I guarantee you I can make a bletter movie than them
A bletter movie?
literally anyone in this thread could make a better movie with the resources it took to make The Flash. I imagine a potted plant could.
With AI we will. Which is why israelites are scrabbling hard to put locks on it's use among civilians.
Go back to Cinemaphile
Now no need to ask for the impossible.
okay nazi
if all movies were good that'd be the new average

Whoaa cool it with the anti Semitic remarks anon
Top Gun Maverick elevated everyone's expectations and has made clear just how shit Hollywood films have become.
Maverick was actual vomit inducing shite
Was just a vehicle for literal Tom Cruise playing Tom Cruise to make people think he was playing his top gun character
It was beyond gay and I could not even finish it.
Kill your self
>It was beyond gay and I could not even finish it.
so what do you like, anon?
Lmao I wonder how it feels to be so wrong and have such bad taste.

Netflix just released Extraction 2 that is a well made action movie. I didn't even need to leave my home to watch it. Some of my friends came this Friday, we sat down with bears and guacamole, and had a great time seeing the movie and shooting shit.
Extraction 2 would likely bomb at the theaters ironically.
>Netflix
>Marvel actor
>Russo Brothers
That's three strikes, shill.
were the bears friendly?
everything has doubled in price who the FRICK wants to go see some homosexual in tights do a bunch of bullshit
can't speak for all movies, but with the flash...

What flops next?
Oppenheimer
Indiana Jones
Replace Opp with Barbie.
People will still turn out to see a Nolan film with a great cast and great visual/audio big screen experience. Barbie looks terrible, Goose and Margot are too old and they cast literal trannies.
>People will still turn out to see a Nolan film
oh yeah? like with Tenet?
>remove the context of my statement
JDW is not great casting in any role, he just fricking sucks as an actor and no one likes him. Tenet also didn't have a coherent storyline to market. Oppenheimer you know you're getting Cilian Murphy, RDJ, Damon, Gary Oldman, etc. and that Nolan will make the explosions look and sound amazing in a theater.
Tenet also came out right when Covid was first hitting. It was one of Nolan's worst but still probably would've profited in a normal time.
You sure about that Copenheimer?
>Replace Opp with Barbie.
Barbie is already tracking to BTFO oppie though
>Floppenheimer confirmed
I don't think Oppenheimer will do too well but it won't flop.
Could someone explain to someone els what this Obama propaganda law consists of?
It means they can lie about anything through official channels. And any website or studio or tech or news network or Google (which is actually called Alphabet) that is an asset of the intel agencies counts as "official".
The Smith-Mundt Act used to prevent this kind of thing. Obama's "modernization" of it, really just entirely inverted it.
Oppenheimer no way in hell it flops
Indy 100% flops
I still think Oppie will do okay .
Indiana Jones ? I have no idea , Crystal skull did a billion and everyone hates it
The MEG 2
Aquabro 2
DUNE 2
Nah The Meg is gonna be the movie of the summer.
They made another meg movie?
Dont joke about Meg 2, I want that series to keep going until we get a Meg vs Megan sequel to end both series.
Aquaman is going to make a billion again just like the last time DC looked 100% dead
Nah the first Aquaman was before capeshit fatigue had really set in, and before Amber Turd was exposed. Plus the new DC team already ruined any credibility they had by praising this Flash slop garbage as the greatest movie ever.
Indy5, not even a fricking guess.
Indy 5 has a more than decent shot at being the biggest financial flop of all time, it's getting pretty ogre hollywoodsisters!
>>Too much woke politics?
Gunn basically assassinated it. It didn't help that Ezra has a bad rep with people as well in a way not even being a weird queer type can wash out.
no reason to watch movie when there's tiktok
It’s honestly shocking how bad the first 20 minutes is. Those fake babies looked like the dead baby from Trainspotting. And Batfleck was entirely CGI. It looked like they pasted is lower mouth onto a stunt double.
>knowing this
based spastic you're a credit to your species
seems like the Henry Cavill mustache debacle on steroids.
Barbie will save cinema and the WB
According to the audience test they're saying that movie is political
Oh no... They made it... POLITICAL? ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED.
It's a kids IP you frickwit you realize it's gonna bomb if they go that direction right?
>anticipation
with snyder gone no one is really looking forward to the lame duck that is the rest of his saga
gunn is the new, so everyone is just waiting for that because it comes with a "new promise" of a dcu
Cinema is healing.
catering to blacks and lgbt destroys everything
They released a new guideline now where EVERY movie is gonna need blacks or other minorities or women in order to be nominated
LMAO
Hollywood is killing itself for dieversity
If I were a filmmaker and forced to contend with the shit I would make lemonade with it.
>no white women only asians and hispanics, maybe the occasional native american or indian
>Ice Cube playing a israeli character with fake hook nose and everything
>any time I have to hire a minority male actor for a main role it will be Noel Guglielmi playing a character named Hector
>What is it?
Bad movies don't make as much money as good movies. How is this hard to understand?
>Too much woke politics?
there is nothing woke in this movie at all unless you think "A woman speaks! WOKE!"
Not with this specific film as much, but there are certainly undertones.
things have swung far enough the mere fact that Supergirl is in there except Superman (even though its an alternate relatity) is going to be seen as pandering to women. Because that is almost always the case in such situations, and in just about every superhero movie to date.

Lack of talent. Everything that comes out of hollywood is lowbrow trash.
When they started to take the hot women out of the movies the box office started to drop especially in capeshit but it is also funny that billionaires get poor supporting LGBT and trannies, they deserve the failure
chuds review bombing
nobody keeping you and your sisters from spending YOUR fricking money on tickets
guess there's more of us chuds than you ever believed and MUCH less of you sick bastards
>What is the cause of all the flops this year?
Lack of sexy women
Eh, Gal's butt looked pretty nice in The Flash.
True, she was super sexy
saar, we need bob and vagene very much in movie saar
The original story of Flashpoint is great if they adapted it faithfully it would be a hit for Warner and they could add more to the story.
Across the Spider-verse would have made a billion dollars with a better plot, no LGBT shit and more Spider-Man focused story, they should have brought back Black Cat and the original Spider-Woman next to Super Mario Across the Spider-verse is a flop.
Yes, spider-slop will always make money despite how shit it is.
There is no metric by which spider-verse can be considered a commercial flop
Commercial disappointment is more accurate
jews are box office poison now, especially homosexual ones
The Flash was never a popular character and normal movie goers got tired of capeshit already. Doesnt help they fricking released blockbusters back to back every week. Like people dont usually go to the movies weekly

it would be funny if flash outgrosses everything this year just off china and india
China and India dont have nostalgia for Batman 89 so no dice
that would be hilarious, but a video game movie being the top grossing film so far this year is already pretty funny
DC flopping is hardly a surprise, they're run by fricking idiots and that jink homosexual freak is absolute cancer
There is just no enthusiasm for the product.
Idk bro why’s the flash film basically the Justice league. BEYOND me tho. TOTTALLY do NOT get it
None of the movies look good and worth seeing in theater.
All of the above.
I dont watch movies starred by pedo trannies or blacks
People have bigger TVs and can just wait to watch stuff at home. Also theaters themselves are causing the issues with tickets and concessions being insanely high. Like 10 Things I Hate About You joke, but it's actually reality now, high.
>People have bigger TVs and can just wait to watch stuff at home.
People went see Top Gun Maverick en masse a year ago you dumb homosexual.
That kinda proves him, IMAX was the best way to watch that movie
>That kinda proves him, IMAX was the best way to watch that movie
Most of the country doesn't have access to IMAX screens and the movie made over a billion dollars you fricking tard.
Still a prime reason to see it. Movie theaters are dying and even the industry acknowledged it with Top Gun's success
As you can tell, that's rapidly changing.
laziness and incompetence
Capeshit has been oversaturated for almost 20 years now. Hollywood milked that cow dry. Simple as. Normies expected a grand finale to wrap it up with a bow with Endgame. Now Hollywood is just scraping the bottom of the barrel with characters like The Flash, Antman, Captain Marvel, etc
Not enough Black folk obviously
Is there a single black person in the movie?
millennial jared leto should stay a supporting character
>We live in a world where black Spider-Man is more famous than The Flash
kek
you live in a world of miscast Barry Allen not being played by some gorgeous blonde white chad instead being played by a violent twink. Ezra's non stop bad press for the last two years did wonders for this movie or do you think people would miss years of bad press?
Sometimes hollywood bubble is just moronic.
She's giving him a wiener cage. He doesn't need to use that little clit anymore when she's got such a MASSIVE dong.
No one cares about Flash or the meta cameos it had.
There's just nothing worth flocking to the theater for. Maybe Mission Impossible but even then I'd rather watch it at home
A sweet $billion in production and marketing down the drain.
>put out boatloads of garbage woke movies
>people don't see them
Wow, what a shock
>Grant Morrison fan
The Gunverse is DOA already.
Flash was always the worst part of Snyderverse trying to be Spiderman so bad, also no one cares about Geriatric Batman
> Horrible scripts
> Fixation on Meta stories.
> Everything has to be a franchise
> Complete lack of production cost control
I don't know, but me and my Fiancé LOVE it
>puts 0 effort in
>still runs to Reddit to post it
Is this a parody sub or something?
It is awful, and if my girl looked like that I would not blast her on the internet
What a shit morale this movie had.
>dude death is a thing that happens, just move on from parental loss
Lol no, I will eternally be sad over it and you can't stop me.
i have a theory that a significant amount of movie sales were driven by people just being bored and going to a movie with friends or family members to fill some time and have something to talk about after. not even movies they cared about seeing, but just some shit they saw on a commercial and said frick it, let's just watch that. then cuckvid happened, places shut down, and people lost the habit of going to see these movies as a default timesink. the quality of hollywood doesn't matter, as normalgays will eat whatever slop gets put in front of them. they've simply moved on to alternative slop, or at least alternative methods of slop delivery ala streaming
my local theater is playing these
>The Flash
>Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
>Elemental
>Transformers: Rise of the Beasts
>The Little Mermaid
>Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
>Fast X
>The Super Mario Bros. Movie
basically all fantasy films for children leading to audience fatigue/market cannibalization
>The Super Mario Bros. Movie
that shit's still in theaters? it came out 2 months ago
People still watch it.
yup, avatar 2 was also in theaters for months
Mario hits the spot for an appealing family film - colorful, PG, and is a standalone film so you don't need to watch all the previous installments to understand what's happening
They normally leave kids movies on for longer, especially over the summer. They make money pretty reliably.
It's only 90 mins long and everyone loves Mario, it was a guaranteed hit
Its deliberate guys, the "fat cats" sold us out to satan in the worst way possible.
THE matrix is about to come crashing down on everyone's heads.
SeeK Christ while you still can my Brothers and sisters.
>Too much CGI?
>Too much woke politics?
>Too many unoriginal/IP films?
Or maybe that nobody goes to the movies after the pandemic? Did you all forget about that? What are you so confused about? Normies use TikTok instead of driving to the theater.
That’s certainly also contributes, but are you trying to say that’s the only relevant factor? Are you a shill?
It's definitely the biggest factor. All of these big franchise films made billions of dollars throughout the 2010s and they're still the most popular movies. The declining box office numbers this year has to be for other reasons, even last year it was better overall. I think it's mainly that people don't care as much about going to the theaters. MCU really fricked everything up
On one hand, that seems plausible. On the other
>avatar 2
>top gun 2
>mario
The quality bar just got raised. People won’t go see a movie now unless they’re excited about it,
has it right. If you want asses in seats, make something so worth watching that you can’t wait for it to go to streaming
Basically this is the story of current Hollywood
>Franchise films get popular in the 2000s (LOTR, Spider-Man, Pirates)
>DVD becomes obsolete and replaced by digital
>By the 2010s Hollywood completely focuses on franchise movies and nothing else because they can profit from merchandising now that DVD is dead
>Streaming services emerge, Hollywood strategy is to dump a ton of garbage on them to gain long-term subscribers
>Audiences are trained to only go to theaters for spectacular franchise films that are part of a saga, basically just modern film serials
>They don't watch anything else
>Corporations start putting new movies on streaming so they can get subscribers, movie theaters lose value
>Pandemic and lockdowns arrive
>TikTok and other short-format video websites dominate the world
>MCU declines, no more ongoing saga to entice people
>Now that that movie theaters have lost their allure nobody cares enough about the movies to actually drive to one
>Oh yeah and theaters are expensive as frick
Why pay for a Movie ticket and snacks, when you can stay at home with your big TV, privacy, and a Costco Pizza?
I am just really tired of the entire spectrum of media in general everything is just too fricking shit and it kind of feels like the people that used to make good stuff is slowly disappearing or dying out.
I don't want to be a doomer and I am sure there are still a lot of good stuff being released if you dig hard enough but every time i look into whatever has been recently released or announced I can't find much that catches my interest.
i would go to the movies more if the snack bars wasn't so readerly expensive. The popcorn combo was double what i paid for the ticket so i just bought my shit somewhere else.
Not woke enough. Spider-verse 2 and Super Mario Bros. we're way woker.
You stick a classically trained British actor against a greenscreen with a tennis ball to act against, he's not gonna deliver what he would on a real set (or, God forbid, a location shoot).
yes
All of the above plus there’s no common society to tailor themes to anymore.
Besides Mario are there any movies that have actually succeeded this year?
Spider-verse. The movie with a black Spider-Man and his white trans love interest is doing great business. So much for get woke go broke.
GOTG Vol 3
They're all shit
And before the shills and idiots blame COVID, remember
>Spider man no way home
>Avatar 2
>Top gun Maverick
>Super Mario brothers
>John wick 4
All did well. Meanwhile movies from established brands like Disney and Warner bros flopped badly. The audiences spoke with their money.
Not only they did well, everything you mentioned did so much that they practically saved cinema in a time of historical crisis.
Didn’t even know it was out
The cinema is a shit old people place. If its on netflix or prime i'll maybe stream it on 2x speed.
no movies lately have focus
its too much pandering or committee ideas or floundering and hope something sticks
