I am.
you mean utter shit? Mr. Pickles
Watchmen
It's Watchmen, we've been over this
It's fricking Watchmen
But Watchmen is actually good.
You speak the true-true
But Watchmen isn’t good
Watchmen is a comic, give me a cartoon
Watchmen Babies
Morel Orel
How?
Uh... kids traumatized by christian symbolism?
Did Eva's christian symbology have any sort of deeper meaning beyond what was happening or was it just a design choice?
I didn't like Eva much even as a teenager so I don't recall much
It was just a design choice. IIRC the creator has said in interviews he just thought it looked cool. It has no impact on the plot.
Moral Orel is to cartoons what Earthbound is to video games
There isn't one
watchmen is communist propaganda garbage. if that is really the equivalent then there's no saving western animation
But anon Evangelion is also communist propaganda and OP is looking for equivalents.
>animation
And yet Rorschach is the most beloved character.
>Hello
>HELLO
>Well, Squirmy, looks like we're the only ones left
>It was cursed
>No
>We were coised
>Coised with greed
>Happy ragtime piano music plays
>Oh Well
>Bloaty and Squirmy hold hands and skip away
>FANCY FROLIC
Watchmen
>the Evangelion of sketch comedy
>last two episodes is some experimental shit and an episode that is the near opposite of what the show is
Yep
My dad called this "Evil Sesame Street" to protect me from it, but wanted to talk to me and tell me about it.
I don’t think other sketch shows had the unique editing style of this show before 2005, which feels like what adult swim shows post-2005 like Tim and Eric seemed to tried to copy. Eric Andre has even said this show is what influenced him. And were there really that many examples of “kids show but dark” before this? I guess maybe south park’s Christmas card pilot had that edge but can you point to anything as specific as WS? Don’t hug me I’m scared feels like it, and that’s an internet thing many years after. It’s got a big cult following too. I feel like anyone who likes niche comedy has watched this. People have made memes of it, probably without having seen it.
First, we need to establish what you mean. Do you means in the sense that it's highly regarded? Similar core themes? A similar concept?
Influence, number of derivatives and creation archetypes
Probably the Simpsons for creating the trend for adult-oriented animated comedies.
Kevin spencer.
The PowerPuff Girls movie.
Ren and stimpy
Xavier The Renegade Angel
Doesn’t make sense
exactly, just like NGE ending
Either Avatar or Adventure time. Those are the only "serious" cartoons we have had that introduced philosophical themes and succeeded and were taken seriously and still it doenst even count that much cause they are kiddy shit anyway while evangelion its aimed at late teenagers - Adults
What is the pretentious of Cinemaphile? Eva is just a rehash of the Bible for morons that never read the bible
Eva only uses the Bible for very surface level stuff and isn't attempting to retell it at all, the frick are you talking about? I've read the Bible and the only thing Eva does is use it for aesthetic purposes and a handful of in-your-face metaphors that you could get just by being exposed to Christianity on a cultural level.
I don't know what an Evangelion is. Should I?
she-ra reboot because of edginess and fricked up situations. it could have been much better if it had more violence and advanced dialogue, but the themes and subject matter are all about abuse and how it fricks you up. has child soldiers, has dealing with growing up
to an extent, x-men cartoons, especially 90s x-men could fit the bill as well
>A good show that midwits hail as incredibly unique and profound within its medium, where most actual discussion has devolved into constant shipping and waifu warring.
It’s Last Airbender.
Calvin and Hobbes
The only Sturm in my boy's heart is a grumpy cow
The evangelion of co? A cartoon that ruined cartoons forever with extreme moronation? I'll have to think about this one, not sure
Adventure Time
Bojack Horseman
Is this a real screencap?
It says edits in the top corner
you mean a memeable, psuedo-niche show with religious imagery and internal waste and tragedy?
Moral Orel.
G_d that's an amazing work of art.
