Is it really spoon feeding when there is zero context given for the image? There's not an artist name, issue number, or even any fricking characters named out loud in the page in question. Not even the file name gives any usable clue. Seriously, what do you expect people to search for, on their own, to get a lead for information about what was posted? Remember, reverse image search doesn't always work, either, so it isn't a magic solution.

I don't think it was anything about specialness.
Vietnam Vet Punisher leaves the man he hates most gutshot in the middle of the woods knowing no help will come, the worst death Frank saw during the war.

That's such a cop out. This is what happened in Dexter that got me mad. You can't have him escalating his kills based on the crime and then jump the shark like this. >you killed a mother? I defibrillate you three times >you torture kittens? you get your legs eaten by a tiger >you're a serial child molestor? you get a bomb that goes off when you blink >You sodomize a member of my family? > > >... >bang you die haha
Frick that. When the Flash found out Reverse Flash caused Linda to miscarriage he froze him in time but made him conscious. When Atom found out Dr. Light raped Sue Dibny he shrunk down and grew a little in Light's head. Spider-Man became a kafka-esque monster when Kraven's family tried to kill him again.
The whole point is that the guy was going out of his way to get Frank's attention, so Frank killed him in the most impersonal (but still long and painful) way possible.

The whole point is that Nicky Cavella made Frank realize he was getting too absorbed in the enjoyment of the violence of it all when his "crusade" was only ever meant to take scumbags off the street. Frank still killed Nicky brutally and painfully since he made it personal but he restrained himself from going full torture porn with it.
Hard to take this seriously when we all know why super villain recidivism happens. Who'd he kill anyway? Anyone who matters who didn't just come back? Some no name one off they explicitly made so Punisher could off and then act like we're supposed to take anything he says seriously.
This feels like the X-Men problem, but in reverse. Punisher only works when he's silo'd off into his own underworld of normal crime shit. The minute you try to have him act holier than thou with supervillain killing is the moment it all falls apart.

What’s hard to take seriously is that Frank is always right. I don’t buy that he’s never killed innocent people. The amount of shooting he does theirs probably graveyards of bystanders dead at his hands and the idea he’s never killed someone for a crime they didn’t commit is silly.

>What’s hard to take seriously is that Frank is always right.
You just have to if you want to read Punisher comics in the same way you just have to accept that Batman can get in all those fights and gun battles and walk away every time. It's fundamental to the kind of story. Frank is always right and never hurts people who don't deserve it and the people he does hurt are the absolute worst scum of the earth.

Escapes are obviously far less common at 3%, but the US has nothing like ramshackle facilities like Arkham that criminals can walk out of every couple months, so I judged intentional release to be the closest real world equivalent.

There were roughly 2,000 escapees per year about a decade ago but most of those were people walking off a work detail or violating a furlough.
Escapes from high or max security prisons are more like single digits over decades affairs while nobody has escaped the ADX Supermax facility since it opened about thirty years ago.
Because vigilantes killing people is against the law or some bullshit, I dunno.

this conversation is exactly why the x-men fricking suck. death squads are cool but only when cyclops does it. if beast does it, it can only be in the context of being bad for wrong reasons. nobody thought to just have the characters against killing like beast and nightcrawler literally team up with frank castle for a while and actually learn how the real world works and kill people who deserve it in a productive manner
the thing is, the instant some nice characters team up with punisher, punisher will start running into guys that dont deserve to be killed. because guys that deserve to be killed and don't deserve to be are all creations of the writers.
Cause he's an unreal power fantasy that's appealing in concept but if allowed to go unvetted in the real world will have copycats mucking it up with their own "justified" worldviews and end up killing innocents if their great actions justify it.
He's not, the problem is morons in the real world who unlike him don't know who the actual villains are, so they'll be out there torturing and slaughtering innocents playing at their power fantasy.
a well those are the guys he goes after. That's like complaining that spider-man fights too many animal based villains. Even if Frank has to frank a Jaywalker, that Jaywalker probably caused a traffic accident like a school bus full of kids driving into a nursery.
Does anyone remember the scene in a Punisher comic where he disembowls a guy and strings his guts around a tree?
It is The Slavers:

In an unrelated note, does anyone remember a really edgy comic with short stories - the first of them being a twisted fantasy in which an elf of sorts literally kills and throatrapes a wizard?
No, that's Naked Kills. And the coomer ends up having a hard on watching Frank slaughter henchmen (it's some sort of office building where some mafia shoots snuff)
>feeding him aspirin and telling the guy it was poison
Sounds cruel but kinda genius.
I don't know a lot of people who could know whether they've actually been fed poison or not, especially in a panic-inducing situation.
Given the context it seems like classic Frank.

Good old Alan Moore. It's a poor reflection on the medium when the so-called "best writers in comics" are only praised because they were edgelords at a time when it wasn't normal to be edgy in what was perceived to be a children's medium.
This reminds me of that Hitchwiener movie where a jerk gets into a car accident and gets put in a coma.
