There was no such thing as protests over this movie. There were Japs being butthurt about barbenheimer memes but not the Oppenheimer movie.
So we just don't why exactly it takes so much time to release this in Japan in the first place and maybe it was more of a business reason.
You can find out that what I'm saying is at least mostly correct if you search Oppenheimer in Japanese on twitter or other SNS yourself. You would just see Japs being happy about it finally gets a release date.
