This trope of muh pohlees only investigating white crimes is fricking tired as shit. Especially when as a Canadian we are told constantly about muh native women going missing. They thought it was evil cops not investigating or even covering up these disappearances and formed a council to investigate it (costed 100 million dollars IIRC) and then I never heard about it again. You know why? These women arent being killed by le evil whitey theyre probably being murdered by their fricking boyfriends and husbands

In America until recently I know there was a lot of red tape when it came to crimes being done either by a) a non-native doing something on native land and b) a native doing something on non-native land.
The reservation police and the state/county police couldn't work together and solve cases so there were massive loopholes that ended up in unsolved murders and disappearences. So less a white vs native racism issue and more a shitty government red tape issue. Wouldn't be surprised if there was something like that for Canada in some way too.
But she's set up as over-sensitive on that stuff and proven wrong in the same episode when a bunch of white men go missing and almost no one gives a flying frick.
>YOU HAVE NO POINT!!! KEEP WATCHING SO WE GET THE VIEWS AND WAIT FOR THIS VERY SPECIFIC THING TO MAYBE HAPPEN THEN GET ANGRY TO KEEP OUR SHITTY SHOW IN THE PUBLIC EYE!!!

Anyone who says that certain artistic mediums are inherently more enlightened or intelligent than other mediums is a special breed of idiot. You can't qualitatively compare a gradient to another gradient.
While we're at it, I require the same level of intelligence and nuance from a novel as I would anything else I bother spending my time on. This is because I enjoy thinking. You find it exhausting which is why you need breaks regularly.
What i say is that you don't learn a lot by watching a movie which last 2h30 at top. If you want to educate yourself you read a book, if you want to have fun you watch a movie. Nobody wants some woke bullshit which can be summarised as "wow women are so badly treated" in a tv show. If you want to learn about women condition you read books about it, you don't watch "true detective season 4".

Just because you have a buzzword to label opinions you don't like doesn't mean it's not an opinion you don't like. You don't have a problem with shows being political, in fact you want them to be political because you want them to have YOUR politics. You only have an issue when politics other than yours are represented, even if they are directly contrasted in the same breath (almost like the show wants you to think for yourself or something). So yeah, I'm calling you a hypocrite. That's my opinion. Don't like it? Why not cry about it some more, that seems to be working wonders. >Go ahead, prove me wrong, tell me how having this show roll out fictions about white cops not investigating native disappearances is a good thing

Meanwhile we can name thousands upon thousands of instances of identity politics used for no other reason than propaganda, leading to a lesser experience - if said instance of id.pol is used in media.
I don't need a police procedural to use terms like "white privilege" - because:
a) Noone would ever talk like this in said shows' setting
b) If I wanted to broaden my sociopolitical horizons and get informed on how whitey = bad I'd be reading a book, attending a lecture, watching a TedTalk and doing something with academic, societal value.

Exactly, that's why you're so angry, because you feel your views are not being represented. My views aren't represented either, but I don't mind because I don't need the media I consume to constantly tell me I'm right. >Meanwhile we can name thousands upon thousands of instances of identity politics used for no other reason than propaganda, leading to a lesser experience

It didn't. It was at best implied. >I'd be reading a book, attending a lecture, watching a TedTalk and doing something with academic, societal value
Whereas I'd argue that none of that has any societal or academic value anymore than watching a TV show does. Besides, I'm not looking to be enlightened by a TV show. I just want it to be interesting, and preaching unapologetically to one side of the political spectrum or the other is not interesting.

>n fact you want them to be political because you want them to have YOUR politics.
It'd be nice to see some differing views represented in media, but you'll never get that.
How's that working out for ya? Disney on the ropes, Hollywood tanking year by year, Korea and Japan are now the centre for global entertainment. Yeah nice job dumbass.
Who gives a shit about global entertainment? I don't care what some pajeet or some french guy consumes. You'll all continue to obsess over Americans including browsing this American made site.
Bingo. Capitalism has turned people into psychopaths who identify with what costs the most money. "That billionaire over there, I identify with him, and the movies he makes. Eww, an indie director? He's not rich, therefore I don't identify with him. I am standing there next to Elon Musk, that billionaire is definitely me." When the truth is that if we were in cavemen times you would be huddled over a stone pit smashing stones together being unable to even start a fire, like the moronic buffoon you are.
>I just want something that reaffirms my worldview back at me rather than challenging it
this is the cry of the leftard.
The blacks you see on television in the past have almost always been White presenting. They're easing up on that and making them a little Black personish, where they 'bootyshake' and use bad grammar, but still they are still portrayed as highly competent and moral. They're never presented as the population that commits the vast majority of violent crime in the country.
The homosexuals you see on television aren't the hyperpromiscuous narcissistic sociopaths that the data tells us they are, they're hetero-presenting. They're all in long-term loving monogamous relationships. They bicker like adorable old married couples. You never see the egregiously high rates of domestic abuse or child abuse these populations commit depicted.
If anything, the purpose of these television shows is to confirm leftarded worldview BECAUSE IT DOESN'T MANIFEST IN REALITY. People who aren't leftards don't need their worldview 'confirmed' by the television because they find confirmation elsewhere.
Why would you purposely try to antagonize the audience with ideas and themes you know it finds repulsive. People want entertainment, not a communist subversive city college level sociology class poorly disguised as artistic expression.
>surely episode 2 will be better >okay, maybe episode 3 will be better >i'm absolutely positive episode 4 will turn it around >guys just please watch it >g-gguys?
>Haha why would anyone form an opinion based on first impressions, that’s for morons
The showrunners have an amazing opportunity to create something that appeals to the widest possible audience from the opening moments and chose divisive identity politics and woke pandering. The failure to vocally express appreciation for the show is not the fault of the audience, newfriend.
>The showrunners have an amazing opportunity to create something that appeals to the widest possible audience from the opening moments
So basically you're not mad that they're pandering, you're just mad that they aren't pandering to you. Good to know.
Pandering to the widest possible audience is the worst kind of pandering. It's how you create a bland, tasteless thing with no identity that will appeal to no one except the braindead.

Positives >jodie foster tries her hardest even tho the dialogue is pretty clunky >the setting, small mining city in the middle of fricking nowhere alaska during the 6 months of night >the paranormal stuff they have teased which will amount to nothing but its cool >the link between the murder and the banishing of the science facility through the parka was great
Negatives >the dialogue is clunky >leaning too hard into the big grrrl boss, jodie foster and the trooper are smart and determined the other 2 officers are stupid lazy and wimpy >the trooper actress has some great acted bits then some that seem straight out of a high school play >the lesbian daughter, all of her >the cgi animals >>the investigation scene of jodie foster going over the files was cringe and for such a pivotal part of the episode (the parka) it should have been handled better >the music, what the frick is going on there, im all up for the native chants for ambience but the songs were super weird choices >the cinematography was meh, you get that gorgeous shot of the truck at the beginning, night all around only the beam lights and in the distance the science installation and then they abandon any kind of artistic shot, even the final reveal was shitty and it was the only other shot they put some effort onto
I will keep watching it cause im interested a bit on the investigation but i fear they have tried to set up something too big and will fall on their faces trying to solve it satisfyingly
Pretty much my thoughts on it too.
I liked the young cop though. He started wimpy but got better as the episode went on.
The characters were almost all set up as unlikable with some hints of future character development/reveals. Even the daughter had a (very small) moment when you could tell she wasn't just a dumb zoomie.
But yeah, the setting is key for me. I love that kind of things.
Time to go rewatch a few Kinos like The Thing, Atanarjuat, The Snow Walker and Smilla's Sense of Snow.
People hated S2 but I thoroughly enjoyed it even if it's nowhere near S1 quality, I think i'll give this a spin once there's at least three episodes out.
That was her? I don't listen to that kind of music, but I hated it too ass an opening song. I would have loved some native chants instead. Would have been more on point and if they didn't use some generic ones, it could have been great and theme appropriate.
i don't but it seems convenient that >if i get negative feedback it's review bombing >if i get positive feedback it's honest appreciation of my genius work of art

I do anyway.
But the whole all the bosses are women trope was a tad hamfisted. Take it from where it comes I guess. It entertained me, which is kind of the point.
It's amazing to me how people can sit there and deny that most of TV is now overtly sociopoltical and geared towards women, while also gleefully reveling in those facts.
It's weird that the Lovecraftian stuff is being leaned into so hard for this season. Either it really is a failed sequel to The Terror, or they'll ruin it by doing some "no it was something else mundane" twist at the end.
as one of the few people on Cinemaphile that actually watches Cinemaphile and actually watched this show-
I enjojyed it and i'm not afraid to admit it. I'm going to keep watching it until the EoS(end of season).
also, you can tell 99.99% of the people posting didn't even watch the show. lmao.
Disregarding everything else, the director should’ve immediately gone back to the drawing board when they saw how bad the CGI animals looked. The show is on shaky ground right from the start.
I get there's no way you would be able to do a heard of elk running of a cliff with real animals, but did they have to do close-ups of their faces? And that last slo-mo shot of an elk screaming as it goes over the cliff, it even does a pose. That and the polar bear, I thought I was watching Polar Express. Fricking embarrassing.
The CGI was mid but caribou don’t bugle like elk, they grunt. Maybe if the homosexual showrunners shot the thing in alaska instead of iceland local talent would’ve corrected their idiocy.
It's not that bad. Enjoyed ep 1 more on a rewatch. HBO did doom the show when they gave it the True Detective moniker. Apparently the creator of this season, pitched the show as its on thing, and HBO rolled it under the True Detective name. It is better than S2 ep1 and on par with S3 ep 1 thus far. The editing feels a bit faster than we're accustomed to with the series, and I am a bit nervous about Pizzolatto being off. This person is a relative newcomer to the format, and whether they can manage to keep it going, it is too soon to say.
Just watched it last night. Was pretty shit. Starting out with poor CG animals really set a tone. Jodie Foster and the kid are the only good things.
Prediction: >there is no supernatural shit, the elk running off the cliff is due to whatever the scientists were doing, the ghost the same thing >Jodie Foster not liking "Twist and Shout" is going to come back as a song that was playing during a past traumatic moment for her, it's painfully obvious
It will end up being a 5/10 season that some claim is terrific because of its politics and others claim is the worst thing that's ever aired. Like all of these middling modern shows.
Calling it now, the girl died in a machinery accident while trying to sneak in to get some proof of the mine's wrongdoings. The star wounds and broken body are from her falling in some kind of boring machine. The tongue was found by the scientists inside that machine just before they went missing (frozen, that's why it didn't rot).
How that relates to the main plot idk yet. Maybe there's some ancient biological material in the machine that was dug up and it contaminated the water or used the girl's tongue as a base to multiply itself into a life form or something kinda like in the Ring (the books about a sentient psychic/biological virus, not the ghost story movies they made out of those books).
She took it off before the accident and someone found it and just put it in with the rest of the generic coats. Then someone pick out out to wear at some point.
God i watched the first episode until the nigress beast with cheekpiercings showed up - jesus christ what a fricking ugly beast.
Scrolled through the rest of the episode, skipped the parts with Black folk and watched the end bit - is this literally some native supernatural shit??? Reallly?? Ffs.
>native supernatural shit
those are hopefully just schizo imaginations because of poisonings or something. don't know what's up with the electronic devices fricking themselves sporadically tho.
it honestly feels like they'll go down the supernatural route as they probably intended all along before the true detective trademark got attached to the project
Pizza Lasso said it was going to go back to the King in Yellow/Carcosa style of hinted supernatural shit like in season 1. But not the KiY specifically. I'm thinking Algernon Blackwood's Wendigo/August Derleth's Ithaca with some folklore mixed in. Probably even some things like Wendigo Psychosis and the Dyatlov Pass incident.
I just hope it's not just Hamaladingdong's The Happening set in the north.

Men will always be disgusted by the likes of you. A troony homosexual like you will dream of such things, but they will never become real.
You, a troony homosexual, will never be a real woman. Also, you will never be a real man.
What in god's name are you blathering about? Is this a copypasta?
>translation: I just want Cinemaphile Cinemaphile to reaffirm my worldview back at me rather than challenging it
You have the whole rest of the internet that’s a sanitised safe space for immature leftists terrified of the conservative boogeyman. Why not frick off to there and never come back?
You want the exact same type of sanitized safe space. You just want it sanitized of liberals rather than conservatives.
>NO U
I’m not going into leftist forums and correcting others’ wrongthink (and even if I wanted to I’d be v& right away anyway).
You’re welcome to provide opposing points of view. But you don’t, because you can’t actually point to any tangible widespread benefits to politicising entertainment with divisive bullshit. You just come in here and screech at others for having opinions that differ to your own.
>You just come in here and screech at others for having opinions that differ to your own
Whereas you are doing something completely different from that.
>NO U again
Yes it is different, because you invite criticism by not providing any opinion other than “but that’s wrongthink”.
Go ahead, prove me wrong, tell me how having this show roll out fictions about white cops not investigating native disappearances is a good thing. Or are you only able to scream “you’re not allowed to have that opinion!” like the average woketard?
>Now go away or I will NO U! you a third time
>“but that’s wrongthink”.
I already did.
>ascribes motives to me that can then be attacked
Classic strawman. Yeah, I thought you couldn’t, thanks for proving it.
Just so we’re clear I’m asking you to put forward your own opinions instead of simply criticising others’.
>I already did.
LOL, LMAO even. Where did you do that?
>ascribes motives to me that can then be attacked
If you want me to stop saying NO U, you really ought to stop constantly accusing me of things you're guilty of doing.
>LOL, LMAO even. Where did you do that?
Here:
>NO U again
Okay I’m done with your stupidity. Have a wonderful Disney day.
I accept your concession.
you got BTFod hard buddy. might want to find a new hobby
You've basically come right out and criticized me for being a 'leftist'. I only criticized you for being a hypocrite. You criticized the show for pandering to leftists. I complimented the show for representing opposing viewpoints in equal measure. So who's really the politically motivated one here, newfriend?
wasnt me you moron I'm just another anon weighing in
>Gets asked to explain why he thinks IDPOL in a media product is a good idea
>Misunderstands this repeatedly as a request to point out plot points in a specific show
>Strawmans other people’s opinions because it’s the only way he can go on the attack
>”I accept your concession”
Bravo moron-kun, bravo.
>gives opinion on TV show
>well now you are obligated to defend EVERYTHING I HAVE EVER SEEN THAT I DO NOT LIKE to me
>actually I'm not, I'm going to keep talking about the show that is the topic of the thread
>HAH! A strawman! I WIN!
Learn what a strawman is and stop being so fricking stupid
Are you not the insufferable twat that posted
, which is literally a strawman of the highest order?
Name one(1!) establishment... anything (from show to product) that embraces and promotes what you think your Cinemaphile strawmans' politics are, I'll wait.
I know you're probably baiting and I see what you're trying to say about muh conservative safespace (true) but you're really not as heckin smarterino as you think you are.
>Name one(1!) establishment... anything (from show to product) that embraces and promotes what you think your Cinemaphile strawmans' politics are, I'll wait.
Oh, I'm sure you can.
>I don't need a police procedural to use terms like "white privilege"
I don't want my politics, homosexual, and I sure don't want yours. I want non-moronic politics to be the mainstream, not moronic politics. why is that controversial?
Because by "non-moronic" you mean politics you agree with. Unless you want to provide me a comprehensive list of political ideologies you differ with but still respect and appreciate. Apparently "cops are not immaculate at their jobs at all times" is not one of them
>n fact you want them to be political because you want them to have YOUR politics.
It'd be nice to see some differing views represented in media, but you'll never get that.
yes? because liberals hold onto most major spaces online and are pandered to the most in media. frick off
I want the world sanitized of liberals
This is the rationale behind ~ 80% of modern primetime tv.
It's typical for primetime TV to be 80% terrible. During the golden era of TV it was like 75% and before that it was 100%
>translation of "challenging your worldview": shitting all over whites in the most obnoxious way possible
no cant say that i like that
How's that working out for ya? Disney on the ropes, Hollywood tanking year by year, Korea and Japan are now the centre for global entertainment. Yeah nice job dumbass.
I don't care how much money mega multi-million dollar corporations are making and neither should you
Who gives a shit about global entertainment? I don't care what some pajeet or some french guy consumes. You'll all continue to obsess over Americans including browsing this American made site.
Odd seeing as how 99.9% of television reaffirms your backwards-ass worldview.
You don't know what my worldview is. I don't like most television.
Watching television shouldn’t be a challenge.
Excellent bait
People who aren't leftards don't need their worldview 'confirmed' by the television because they find confirmation elsewhere.
ahh yes, the traditional white man's gang initiation.
Why would you purposely try to antagonize the audience with ideas and themes you know it finds repulsive. People want entertainment, not a communist subversive city college level sociology class poorly disguised as artistic expression.
probably the most forgettable personality of all time
well post her most entertaining scenes then
>cue the mudshark gif
We're only one episode in, so anyone who isn't reserving judgement at this point is a turbo moron
>surely episode 2 will be better
>okay, maybe episode 3 will be better
>i'm absolutely positive episode 4 will turn it around
>guys just please watch it
>g-gguys?
I don't care if you watch it. I was commenting on the audience score, which is the point of the thread. Take your medication.
>this is your brain on yuropoor
>gets BTFO
>begins building strawmen
this is the most moronic reply I've read yet, and I've just been to Cinemaphile
Episodes 1-3 were shit in season 1 too
Those were the best episodes. Show fell off after them. I was there.
I watched one episode back in 2014. Didn't interest me at all. Never looked back.
>how_do_you_know_its_shit_it_isnt_even_out_yet.png
yes that's precisely the kind of turbo moronation I'm talking about
>Haha why would anyone form an opinion based on first impressions, that’s for morons
Sorry, did you misunderstand ‘widest possible audience’?
Pandering to the widest possible audience is the worst kind of pandering. It's how you create a bland, tasteless thing with no identity that will appeal to no one except the braindead.
Star Wars: A New Hope begs to differ.
Not really. Critics at the time called it the death of cinema for a reason.
And they were wrong. It was a revolution for the science fiction genre, special effects, merchandising and more.
It is now, but not at the time. Whites, blacks, browns all lined up to watch it and it was dubbed into just about every language on earth. Universal themes and all that. Pretty much everyone on earth loved it.
>Whites, blacks, browns all lined up to watch it and it was dubbed into just about every language on earth
Like I said, the braindead
>merchandising
Well at least you admit it's consumerist tripe masquerading as a movie
>Universal themes
Art should be challenging. As a result it will alienate some people. Anyone who pushes back at that is a businessman, not an artist.
homie really? that is the most braindead normie shit imaginable
I'm done watching second episodes if the first is shit. I'm not watching 4 40 minute episodes just to get the seal of approval to call it shit.
You're entitled to that, just like I am entitled to deem you a turbo moron
Go watch 8 seasons of trash before leaving your next review, I'll be over here not doing that.
your show is trash. deal with it
Positives
>jodie foster tries her hardest even tho the dialogue is pretty clunky
>the setting, small mining city in the middle of fricking nowhere alaska during the 6 months of night
>the paranormal stuff they have teased which will amount to nothing but its cool
>the link between the murder and the banishing of the science facility through the parka was great
Negatives
>the dialogue is clunky
>leaning too hard into the big grrrl boss, jodie foster and the trooper are smart and determined the other 2 officers are stupid lazy and wimpy
>the trooper actress has some great acted bits then some that seem straight out of a high school play
>the lesbian daughter, all of her
>the cgi animals
>>the investigation scene of jodie foster going over the files was cringe and for such a pivotal part of the episode (the parka) it should have been handled better
>the music, what the frick is going on there, im all up for the native chants for ambience but the songs were super weird choices
>the cinematography was meh, you get that gorgeous shot of the truck at the beginning, night all around only the beam lights and in the distance the science installation and then they abandon any kind of artistic shot, even the final reveal was shitty and it was the only other shot they put some effort onto
I will keep watching it cause im interested a bit on the investigation but i fear they have tried to set up something too big and will fall on their faces trying to solve it satisfyingly
You are a decent contributor to this utter disgrace of a board. You deserved dubs but it wasn’t to be.
Good post
People hated S2 but I thoroughly enjoyed it even if it's nowhere near S1 quality, I think i'll give this a spin once there's at least three episodes out.
>Billy Eyelash starts playing
Dropped.
>Dropped.
I love how people say that like anyone cares but them
You cared enough to reply
Making fun of you is fun
That was her? I don't listen to that kind of music, but I hated it too ass an opening song. I would have loved some native chants instead. Would have been more on point and if they didn't use some generic ones, it could have been great and theme appropriate.
Easily the worst intro of the show.
>reviewbombing is... le bad!
>oh wait it's... le good!
>oh no it's really... le bad!
leaving a positive review for something you liked is not "review bombing", you idiot
and leaving a negative review for something you disliked is "review bombing?
If you create a bunch of dummy accounts to leave several hundred negative reviews, yes. Otherwise no.
and how would she know that's the case?
How do you know it isn't?
i don't but it seems convenient that
>if i get negative feedback it's review bombing
>if i get positive feedback it's honest appreciation of my genius work of art
also if i try to watch it objectively it's just not that good
so i can totally believe people don't like it
I'm not really interested in baseless conjecture about the motivations behind a tweet. I provided the definition of review bombing since you seemed unclear. The point is encouraging people who liked a show to leave a positive review is not encouraging review bombing.
>also if i try to watch it objectively
You can't, it's a subjective medium
fair enough
>You can't, it's a subjective medium
yes and if i shit in your mouth you might like it because taste is a subjective
it still remains shit
I'm not interested in your grade school analogies either.
you might thinks it's a bad argument
but remember everything is subjective so i sitll win
Now you're getting it.
The difference is that most people who review bomb don't even watch it.
Then leaving a negative review for something you didn't like is not "review bombing" either, you dolt.
>inb4 only le bad side does that!!
I didn't say it was.
Hollywood israelites have begun b***hslapping their diversity hires for attacking the viewers. What's going on?
>attacking the viewers
in this case even women and diversity goons liked season one and are very vocal about it
What are you guys mad about this time?
same thing as always.
>What are you guys mad about this time?
I've noticed that leftists don't use the word 'chud' anymore.
What happened?
It was never used by leftist in the first place. At least not on this page. It was used by the center and right to mock the far right.
You are not entitled to a positive review.
57% is way too high for this pile of shit.
audience scores are always wrong
Pizzaman isn't a particularly good writer but at least he's interested in writing compelling stories. This new chick writer for the show only cares about political proselytizing
And what would be your example of a good writer?
Scott Ryan
Ah yes. That would explain why I've never heard of him
Thats a shame
just watched it, it was mad boring
and yeah the frick men / frick white people shit stood out and sounded clunky
just made me want to rewatch the terror
fake, it's even better than season 1
>2024
>Still using tomato-scammer website
Bait thread
It's a bit silly.
What you didn't like the dancing ghost?? Or the eternally flickering lights? Or....
>SHE'S AWAKE
>eternally flickering lights
would unironically been kino if they had used it once during an exceptionally eerie scene, instead it feels like they're ticking horror trope checkboxes.
less is often way more when it comes to horror and thrillers.
all the other crap can be explained away by them schizoing out, even tho it's silly nonetheless
is it really that bad or just people reacting troonery and shit? I was just gonna watch it for Jodie
1. Nothing's wrong with me
>look up guardian review
>praises it for having women
>also dumps on series 1 for having men
It's all so tiresome.
I wrote a negative 1/2 star review because of the twitter post. I made a RT account just to shit on this piece of SHIT season.
What's the problem this time? Is it really just because it dares to have women in lead roles? And I thought we liked Jodie Foster?
It is fricking boring and stuffed to the brim with overcrowded plots and subplots.
So the same reasons that S2 filtered the frick out of you basically
Absolutely fricking not you moronic incel homosexual moron. I am the biggest season 2 fan out of any of these posers. This season genuinely SUCKS ass.
I do anyway.
But the whole all the bosses are women trope was a tad hamfisted. Take it from where it comes I guess. It entertained me, which is kind of the point.
It's primary purpose is to push progressive messaging
It's amazing to me how people can sit there and deny that most of TV is now overtly sociopoltical and geared towards women, while also gleefully reveling in those facts.
leftists argue in bad faith partly because they're blind to themselves
I don't think anyone on this board worked on that show
It's weird that the Lovecraftian stuff is being leaned into so hard for this season. Either it really is a failed sequel to The Terror, or they'll ruin it by doing some "no it was something else mundane" twist at the end.
The only lovecraftian thing about this show are the woke agendas of the makers.
You just know rust is going to turn up at the end of the season.
as one of the few people on Cinemaphile that actually watches Cinemaphile and actually watched this show-
I enjojyed it and i'm not afraid to admit it. I'm going to keep watching it until the EoS(end of season).
also, you can tell 99.99% of the people posting didn't even watch the show. lmao.
Shut the absolute frick up you SHILL. It's terrible and if you like it then you are terrible.
now kiss
>dis cayse…..dem keedz
Season 3 was a total waste of fricking time and acting talent
Disregarding everything else, the director should’ve immediately gone back to the drawing board when they saw how bad the CGI animals looked. The show is on shaky ground right from the start.
That combined with the blatantly paranormal crap that will most definitely not be explained in a satisfactory manner.
The psychiatrists seem to think I’m a paranoid schizophrenic but I don’t believe them
I felt the CGI was fine.
Awful. I don’t know why shows keep trying to do this. The polar bear was atrocious.
Getting Ring Two vibes from this shit. Doesn’t matter how """good""" and """real""" ShitGI looks, it’s not actually there.
Oh I thought those were supposed to be elk.
Elk have black beards on their necks and chins and don’t live north of the arctic circle. They’re only in the southeast of alaska.
I liked it, and I especially liked GILF Jodie.
>some lucky woman gets to eat that mature pussy
It's not fair, bros.
>cgi deer
Dropped it right there
>have we found another heavily male skewed IP?
>Cinemaphile calls me reddit for liking the Sopranos and that the TRVE Cinemaphile show is True Detective
>this shit
Lmao
This is like that time they replaced JigC with JigShe.
>radio static
>you're not going to believe this
>it's a perfect storm
made me laugh out loud
It's not that bad. Enjoyed ep 1 more on a rewatch. HBO did doom the show when they gave it the True Detective moniker. Apparently the creator of this season, pitched the show as its on thing, and HBO rolled it under the True Detective name. It is better than S2 ep1 and on par with S3 ep 1 thus far. The editing feels a bit faster than we're accustomed to with the series, and I am a bit nervous about Pizzolatto being off. This person is a relative newcomer to the format, and whether they can manage to keep it going, it is too soon to say.
>White men are evil
>Everyone else is good
So profound.
I thought it was alright lads apart from the dead guy doing interpretive dance in the snow that was really cringe how it was done
Same here. I thought it was a good start. The interpretive dance was very cringe though. Reminded me of that scene in the OA lol.
Just watched it last night. Was pretty shit. Starting out with poor CG animals really set a tone. Jodie Foster and the kid are the only good things.
Prediction:
>there is no supernatural shit, the elk running off the cliff is due to whatever the scientists were doing, the ghost the same thing
>Jodie Foster not liking "Twist and Shout" is going to come back as a song that was playing during a past traumatic moment for her, it's painfully obvious
TV shows and movies aren’t a replacement for a personality or a social movement. Stop being so personally invested over movie reviews.
>only 78 from critics
That's shockingly low for True Detective
I knew this was bad just looking at the main characters
maybe it's just trash?
It will end up being a 5/10 season that some claim is terrific because of its politics and others claim is the worst thing that's ever aired. Like all of these middling modern shows.
Doesn't matter what people claim, it will be a failure like every single woke show.
posting in this thread because the other ones are bait.
Maybe there's some ancient biological material in the machine that was dug up and it contaminated the water or used the girl's tongue as a base to multiply itself into a life form or something kinda like in the Ring (the books about a sentient psychic/biological virus, not the ghost story movies they made out of those books).
>machinery accident
doesn't explain why that one researcher guy is wearing her jacket on a later photograph
She took it off before the accident and someone found it and just put it in with the rest of the generic coats. Then someone pick out out to wear at some point.
No one pays me to praise trash.
Thinking maybe I should continue Season 2 in the meantime. I stopped watching after the big shootout episode. That was years ago.
I stopped exactly there too but, if anything, this [current year] shit makes me not want to watch it even more.
What is this some scooby doo shit ?
They went too far with the supernatural. No explanation for that will make sense
