Goofy handsome guy always works for these shows.
Conan has the goofy handsomeness of someone who has always had a level he would never fall below. The man went to Harvard. Its like Roger Sterling in mad men, that boyish charm one can only achieve knowing one has already in part made it where others can only dream, simply by virtue of kin.

Leno had good monologues, and headlines was always funny. Conan was more for young adults,

this is a big part of why it was such a good show he should have stayed at 12:35 boomers didn't go for the fedex pope or the man who's protected from 3 inch bees or the jerking off bear or the pimp robot

He was always honest with his audience, for example that Haiti is a progressive tropical paradise.

Aside from the fact the resort he stayed at got busted for child service trafficking shortly after he left, I found it immensely funny how in his own, heavily edited footage of Haiti he still almost gets murdered by a large angry mob in the city and his guide has to simmer down tensions.

I never watch late night TV but YT just kept recommending me his JenCon interview from 1995 since the algorithm knows I'm a Connellygay. I found him much more bearable than other late night hosts and overall he did a pretty decent job with the interview. But I didn't really laugh and he also got overexcited at times and started talking too much and repeating himself. So I wouldn't call it great, but compared to Colbert or Seth Myers or something he looks like a genius.
