It was shit, people just have a nostalgia hard on for it.
>It was shit, people just have a nostalgia hard on for it.
Pleb taste.
but you're the pleb
how I feel every time someone says firefly is good.
A diverse cast of characters in the best way possible, they're interesting for who they are, not what they are - something modern Hollywood can't seem to shake.
Propaganda was light.
The guy who made it really loved it, when the creator loves their product - you're more likely to love the product.
Hot women.
Good story arc.
Good individual episode plots.
Good character development.
And I think we can all agree it's a pretty good potential depiction of the future.
Eve vibes.
It's just good.
I'm about to write my 8th book.
I was inspired by the creators taking the time to design the Firefly's blue prints, I'll be doing the same for the ships featured in my next book.
My only critique is that every place they went to seemed to have an old west country vibe going for it.
If people are living on separate planets, they're not going to be living under the same old west culture - that was my biggest beef with the show.
I didn't hear about it until 2012 and didn't watch it until 2015 or so.
I liked it a lot. And the movie Serenity was a good way to complete the story. I think it was mainly interesting due to the cast, I enjoyed watching Mal and Jeyne and I could believe both their funny and serious sides.
>And the movie Serenity was a good way to complete the story.
I would have been pissed if I paid theater prices for Serenity. It had small screen sensibilities, which is fine for tv. Not for the big screen.
is canonically half Chinese
>>Not a single Asian character to be seen.
The Kaylee cop-out was insulting. Also, the meta message of Reynolds being a Confederate analog, while the government was the only place to find black characters, was Raimi meme level.
NTA I thought Serenity tried too hard to be a 2005 summer blockbuster. It was really action packed and grim compared to the show.
>I'm about to write my 8th book.
Have you made any money doing this? Are you published? Or just an absolute madman?
Self-published madman
Follow the breadcrumbs if you want to learn more
The movie left me wanting a 2nd season but it was none-the-less a good conclusion.
This is you? I lost it when sam was reading the stupid race descriptions.
Yeah, I'd throw up my trip but I don't use it outside /tg/
>Minarchy
I remember you. You're insane.
Such is the price to be paid for a high Wisdom stat
> I was inspired by the creators taking the time to design the Firefly's blue prints, I'll be doing the same for the ships featured in my next book.
Go to /m/ and ask for stories about Shoji Kawamori making functionally transforming Lego versions of his fighters.
Sounds based, I'll lurk /m/ a bit before I do - I've never posted there
>It was shit, people just have a nostalgia hard on for it.
thousand of people die everyday, good people, hard workers, god fearing, and this utter moron is still alive to spout inane bullshit.
It's quite possibly the most overrated thing ever committed to film.
it really wasn't very good, good women and that's it
It was great, it went on the wrong network, it has zero replay value.
It would have gone to shit after S2 because Joss Whedon would have gotten increasingly involved in its production and writing.
>Galaxy is canonically half Chinese
>Not a single Asian character to be seen.
Joss "Lead the Zipperhead" Whedon.
is canonically half Chinese
>>Not a single Asian character to be seen.
>If people are living on separate planets, they're not going to be living under the same old west culture
The fricking best part of the show, brainlets
>cancelled in an era where the internet existed but didn't dominate day to day life
>aired out of order
It's still alright. But overrated af
I had my ReplayTV set to record it each week, half the time it was local NBA games pre-empting Firefly.
Freedom, Space Cowboys, South will rise against the evil corporate fascist state, ridiculously charismatic cast.
Unironically, an ugly israeliteess killed it.
When FOX finally fired her, after fricking everything up as hard as possible, she founded a group called
>Jackals
You really can't make this shit up.
>Why was it canned after season 1?
because it sucks
Cowboy Bebop rip-off
I stole the plot of this show unconsciously for a post apocalyptic tabletop roleplaying game I ran for friends, as in the River plot, sort of. Her name was even the same as Rivers I just changed one letter. I didn't even realize I'd done that until a year later. Anyway instead of negotiating when they got into a fight with her, they shot her in the arm, beat her unconscious, then surgically crippled her by cutting her spine then later they dumped her in shallow water unable to move her legs and she drowned.
>they got into a fight with her, they shot her in the arm, beat her unconscious, then surgically crippled her by cutting her spine then later they dumped her in shallow water unable to move her legs and she drowned.
Murder hobos until the end
and that's why you should always have a gun and enough ammo
normies like that are everywhere and ruthless when they can get away with it
Because fox execs are homosexual morons.
>fox execs
It was just one,
>an ugly israeliteess
She killed tons of good shows to push cheap reality-TV and failed hard at it.
>It was just one
Point still stands.
a perfect show without wasted episodes, and filler
other shows peak at 2 or 3 seasons but this did it in 1 and a movie
why continue if you can peak and move on?
>a perfect show without wasted episodes, and filler
I like firefly, but you can't convince me the episode where they protect the brothel isn't shit
I have the dvd but don't have it now or Id go back and watch it
It was pretty funny, provided actual backstory to the whole fricking verse and even the feminist protec-tha-prostitutes bullshit was almost bearable, compared to today's insufferable standards.
>you can't convince me the episode where they protect the brothel isn't shit
Needed boy prostitutes.
It's kino.
>great Jayne episode
>great Mal & Inara episode
>kino battle
>kino villain
Only bad scene is the amazing grace burial, but even that you at least remember.
It was the casting. The episodes are structured well, love him or hate him but Dan Harmon has episode structure down to a science and it's why his shows are enjoyable. Joss is good at it too.
Every character is likable and have a purpose
>What made this show so good?
Weadon and a good cast
>Why was it canned after season 1?
Is good because weadon would destroy it like everything he touch after the first seasons
>Weadon
>weedle
>making something good
never happened
>What made this show so good?
Weeaboo fetishism without having to employ actual Asians. The demonization of black men as future enslavers.
Whedon shows tend to have a good cast and some good dialogue but everything else from a film making aspect seems to be an afterthought.
>Why was it canned after season 1?
it was canned in the MIDDLE of season 1. season 1 was meant to have more episodes.
In this era of remakes and reboots why doesn't Firefly get a chance?
They're too old. That's why it needs an animated reboot, the cast can still be VAs
it doesn't need to be the same cast, new crew but in the same universe
Joss Whedon was outed as a male feminist- I mean a sexual predator.
>the next time you wanna stab me in the back, have the guts to do it to my face
Whedon peaked here. To this day I'm amazed at how such goofy characters delivering such a goofy line can be so intense.
watch it again.
it wasn't good.
It was okay. Not great, not bad either. It would have deserved one or two more seasons.
Worshipped this as a teenager. After realising everything about space from the moon to the iss is an elaborate hoax I loathe every movie about space.
It's fiction based on fiction.
western space mashup
Constant fear of cancellation was probably a pressure raising its' standards.
A S2 of Hearts of Gold tier episodes would have been shit. The comics EU of Malcolm's mom make me glad it was cancelled.
it's good, i rewatched it recently. it isn't the great show that i remember from watching it when i was younger, it's regrettable for the lost potential of what the show could have become if it matured further in successive seasons. of course as you can see in this thread people view it as a reddit show and judge it as shit because this board is incapable of balanced critical thought.
