I think it’s kinda like >the Mad cat looks fricking stupid >*start to look at the rest of BT designs to find something more appealing* >holy shit these are even worse than the Mad Cat >but the setting and games look kind of interesting >I guess the Mad Cat isn’t bad >the Mad Cat is actually one of my favourite battlemechs
It’s like a Stockholm syndrome design.
Also it probably got a marketing push because it’s one of the few designs that actually looks like something that they can use without worrying about being sued
it’s the ultimate in faceless mook design. however that’s all it’ll ever be. a faceless mook. nothing wrong with preferring designs like this but the reason why the zaku gets so much more love than than the mad cat is because the zaku has character.
I still can’t believe how hard shimmy fricked up the catapult.
I am a Battletech fan and I mostly agree with that (even if I consider some later redesigns to be a bit better, like the Marauder), but I also love the looks of most of the first wave clan omnimechs, my favorite being the Thor/Summoner.
Outside that, Commando, Zeus, and Catapult are aestethical evergreens to me, the latter one beign basically my mechfu
The Zeus was traced over from the Bigfoot from Dougram and the Thor was a Ironfoot (Thunderbolt do you get it) redone with aesthetics from the Destroid Spartan.
A silhouette easy to identify and it's in the cover of most Battletech-related releases, especially Clan related. It also has that blocky design most people associate western mechs with.
Anyway, for me the Argus is more representative of what a Battletech should be: a turret with two legs.
Looks like an egg walks like a chicken.
stealing Japanese styling
Wut
Fasa admitted to it in their court case with Harmony Gold. They had to point out all the things inspired by the Unseen.
But what does that have to do with the mad cat?
Because they were pointing out details on the Mad Cat.
who did it better?
This game sucks but that box art is kino
The Mega Drive version was better anyways.
but the 3050 is more hellish
>kino
Frick off tourist.
>tell me you're Smoke Jaguar without telling me you're Smoke Jaguar
tbh i think the missile pods look better than the top mounted canon on the glaug
Because it was on the box of Mechwarrior 2.
The Millennium Falcon wienerpit. And what
said.
By not getting into anything else.

Counterpoint.

Ya I think most people find one they like more. But mad cat is still generally liked, even if it’s not everyone’s favourite

Shitty take from a guy with no taste.
Battletech fans will have a breakdown if forced to admit all the best early designs are japanese mecha.
But we know.
Knowing and admitting are two separate things.
I just admitted it and I'm fairly certain I'm not having a breakdown. Don't be a dingus.
I'm sure there's a guy out there who can lick his own butthole, lets not pretend there aren't still things we know to be more or less likely.
Let us also not pretend that everyone licks their own butthole just because some do.

You're just confirming me how awesome the Dougram designs are.
I mean its 80s Okawara theyre all hits
Even the goofier mech designs are fantastic.
I can dig it. Some of them are walking weapons platforms

This is THE iconic Battletech 'mech
So when they cant steal from dougram they make hot garbage. Got it
You're either into mecha or mechs and I'm into mecha.
It looks sorta like the Officer Battle Pod Glaug or whatever.
It looks cool.
more of a bushwacker man personally
Bushwacker's a fun boy but on non-gunbag games it's kit is so much of a pain to work with because of how schizo it is
I run the S2 a fair bit on tabletop and it makes for a good medium/short ranger striker mech.
What makes it so iconic?
The Zone Flash
I'll always love the Makie more for being the Zaku I of Battletech. Just look at this fat idiot machine, going pew pew and steppin' on tanks.
I love Destroid-style robots and I hate that Battletech is one of the only places where they get to have such big roles
Your allegiance?
Either Marik, Steiner, or the Taurians because frick FedSuns
>Hendrik III's logo
Can't unsee.
i like chicken walkers so much
There is low-profile, and then there is the Cauldron Born.
