What movies should I show my students next year?
They must be appropriate for high schoolers, so nothing R-rated.

Chud's law is all too real

The Red Pill
Buck breaking
>Buck breaking
this. if anyone complains; call them racist.
then just smile at the orcs students and they will be scared of you
The Substitute , 1-3.
haven't seen the tv show.
I’d say O Brother, Where Art Thou?, but the kino will be lost on them.
‘Romeo and Juliet’ from 1968 is rated PG.
‘Sheena’ from 1984 is also rated PG, but might not be as appropriate for educational material.
>‘Romeo and Juliet’ from 1968 is rated PG.
my fondest film titty memory
Faces of Death
My highschool psychology teacher showed American Beauty and I guess forgot there were breasts in it because she jumped up to cover it. Don't know what the pedagogical purpose was.
The Hidden Blade unironically
Loose change.
Why did you stutter
for what purpose? just a movie to kill time? twister
Napoleon Dynamite but only if it's late spring/summer
Do the Right Thing
Ferris bueller's day off

Lean on Me
Class of Nuke 'Em High
Kung Fu Hustle
show those frickers a Terrence Malick film
amelie poulain
October Sky
Okay, that's a good suggestion. I loved that movie as a kid.
You should show this and then bring up all the internet posts about the cripple kid being a huge butthole
Teacher here. I will choose a movie that has to do with history during the year. It gives the kids a break during the year. When we are on bus trips for field trips I show The Rundown
Iliterally watched this movie in like half a dozen unrelated classes, under different teachers. Its a good movie, but I dont understand why all teachers have such a raging boner for it
It's appropriate for kids, it combines history and science, and it has emotional family drama. Everything you want as a teacher.
show them a random batman movie and call it the greatest thing in the world
Manhattan, with Mariel Hemingway
and Woody Allen
Here are some movies that I found engaging/inspiring in my late teens/early twenties:
>Good Will Hunting
>Mystic River
>Sunset Blvd
>The Wizard of Oz (a bit overdone perhaps, but I have a funny feeling that kids don't watch classics like this anymore. It is so good for it's time that it's enjoyable at any age.)
>The Sound of Music (same note as above)
>The Prestige
>The Sting
Was thinking of that one (perhaps my favourite Woody Allen film), but I think it might be a bit too much for high schoolers to appreciate.
I don't really like these suggestions so far.
I've shown Remember the Titans (still kino after all these years), animated films, and The Prestige before.
I hate school-related movies because they're all unrealistic and the teenagers are played by 20 year olds. The only realistic depiction of students was in The Wire.
What sort of movie are you looking for? Probably safest answers would be National Treasure, either of the first 3 Indiana Jones', or The Sandlot.
If I had to pick a movie that I feel like would improve their development as people I'd chose pic related. It kind of drags on at the latter end so they might get a bit bored but the ending is really worth it.
Huh, never heard of it. I'll check it out.
I'm looking for old movies that teenagers will enjoy because everything is dogshit nowadays.
What do you teach?
You should pick one or two episodes of Freaks and Geeks...that was a surprisingly accurate portrayal of high school at times.
we watched temple of doom in 4th grade. Scary movie was shown freshman year for one period but we didn't finish it because we had a moron in the class and the next day we had to watch Snow Dogs
Never Cry Wolf
>no rated r
pussy, my teacher showed us We Were Soldiers sand Saving Private Ryan in history class, and had a really cool hippy teacher who let us watch The Hangover
Pootietang is the only good recommendation I can give you.
Touching the Void- survival skills and endurance
The Grey- same, but ask them to focus on the mistakes made by the main character (has lots of swearing though)
Tetris- entrepreneurship, also some swearing
I'd also recommend 1984 but it has at least one sex scene.
If you're showing a movie, no learning is being done that day. That said...
English: Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet. Don't be a b***h; watch the whole thing. Make sure to include subtitles.
American History: first episode of John Adams or Lincoln
Economics: Margin Call
Biology: Jurassic Park
World History: Dr. Strangelove
Physics: Apollo 13
Chemistry: don't know
Math: A Beautiful Mind
K-6: Spirited Away or Howl's Moving Castle.
>Biology: Jurassic Park
My bio teacher had us watch GATTACA.
Damn, need to rewatch Gattaca and see if it holds up.
Never Back Down
Clockwork Orange, my sociology teacher showed us that in high school, not sure why.
Get them hooked on accessible kino like Wes Anderson
Twister
you can’t go wrong with school of rock
I used to have these autistic fake scenarios in my head where I was a highschool or college teacher and I would force my students to watch my favorite kinos
Do you do these scenarios while trying to go to sleep?
Red Dawn, the original
This guy is grooming his students and using Cinemaphile as a filter to ensure it's not obvious to outsiders and IF called out or question will point to this thread. Considering use of Cinemaphile to be less severe to his reputation than being caught showing films he himself selected to further his groomgenda.
Stand and Deliver or The Faculty.
anon you would have the PTA so jammed up your ass if you tried to show the faculty
>you would have the PTA so jammed up your ass
sorry, what?
FRICK PREZBO
Nah you're alright OP, good on you for putting up the good fight I know I couldn't do it.
Miracle.
Rush Hour 1 three times in a row
and don't forget the bloopers
Chelsey Clinton
Show them the original Top Gun.
Kangaroo Jack
No one can make a good recommendation without you saying the subject you teach, you fricking moron.
I'm a baseball coach/ gym teacher I play this. I also have fricked students after the graduated. I also wear my hat backwards.
Sorry wearing my sunglasses inside and didn't notice I forgo to add the pic
"Grand Jete" is a hidden gem. Would be rather popular with students I imagine. Not sure of the rating though.
Spiderman 1
Show them something that will shape and mold their young minds into a focused worldview.
Gattaca
They still show that crap in a lot of high schools I'm sure.
t. sub teach looking through colleague classroom drawers
Hey I'm here from the /Oz/ threads, you should show them Oz to prepare them for the prison-like enviroment they will grow up in.
Any Sarah Gadon kino
The idea of a Cinemaphilener being a teacher is a horrifying thought
