Not a single one.
World's Finest
Green Lantern: War Journal
These two and The Flash.
I have no idea, I mostly buy back issues.
Shit repeats endlessly. Joker venom turns everyone into Jokers... again. A robot Batman with a nonsensical backstory since there is no backup plan how to stop it starts to kill people and is strong enough to fight the Justice Leage... so Azrael in stronger. There's Joker clones which went nowhere.
So no. It sucks. Read Long Halloween 1 & 2 again instead.
Frick that read the Cult
Read Barrs run
The last two I have on my pull list after dropping Shazam and worlds finest are sandman which ends next month and Godzilla which ends the month after.
Detective has been terrrible since tomasi left, batman has been awful since Morrison had it pre-n52, I will never buy Superman and action until kid Jon is brought back, green lantern shit is awful particularly the John book, I will never touch anything by Tom Taylor or king, Tim Sheridan should jump off a bridge, waid’s lightening from his DC return escaped the bottle, tini Howard has to be shitposting with every script.
I hate 95 percent of what they print and it GENUINELY feels like they print that 95 percent tl generate that exact reaction from someone like me.
Awful taste
Yes surely I should read some homosexual shit by spurrier or maybe a Christian Ward comic that 6 people bought.
Maybe you should, instead of being a b***hy Negative Nancy with no taste.
Maybe you should have a nice day for being a wiener gobbling homosexual
Wow so original. No wonder you’re such a commodity.
>waid’s lightening from his DC return escaped the bottle
World's Finest started to suck because Waid dropped Robin and Supergirl from the title and stopped prominently featuring silver/bronze age heroes in the book. For the last few arcs he hasn't told a story that couldn't just be told with the main line current day Batman and Superman. Boring.
dunno if it counts but im sure theyre still writing more sandman/locke and key issues with world war key
I'm liking Action Comics and Shazam, though the latter is supposed to have a writer change at some point.
Waids stuff
Williamsons Superman
I’m the only one on Cinemaphile enjoying Batman and Detective
Green Arrows been ok
Behind on Flash and GL
Birds of Prey is good
Man I’m a DC defender/optimist and I’m out
Birds of Prey is so bad
Cheer up, there's a different writer and artist for the next two issues AND, supposedly, a plot where the Birds have to infiltrate a Victoria's Secret show. That means there might be as many as 40 tolerable pages coming up, if we're lucky.
I hope it's okay, jesus it's been so long since a comic that's even 6/10 came out
Batman Gargoyle of Gotham
Sandman: Wesley Dodds
The Flash
Hellblazer
and the recently concluded Batman City of Madness
hellblazer is still going ?
i thyought that stopped with the sandman crossover where hes haunted by his older self from vertigo?
It's a new maxi series.
google is just showing me womens dresses
Hellblazer Dead In America.
oh its still the sandman universe, cheers. when you said maxi i thought something else
these
absolutely none of those are good.
Maybe you just have shit taste.
ironic
>Batman Gargoyle of Gotham
It was so dumb how Batman got beaten in the first issues by Grampa's OC.
I want to try World's Finest because of the artwork and general tone but hated Birthright and not a huge fan of Kingdom Come, not sure if I like Waid's writing in general
>Birthright
best origin yet.
Too unfocused for me. Some of it like the soul vision is a bit much, too, and the symbol meaning "hope". Always felt like overcompensating to make things profound.
Definitely prefer it to the Byrne origin (although I preferred Byrne’s art to Yu’s, just a personal preference) and wish it had stuck for longer.
They just don't have the big names anymore. Johns is in his corner doing JSA after royally screwing up doomsday clock and three jokers. I don't think they'll let him touch a big book again. It's a shame really.
Whether you like them or not, people like Snyder, Lemire, Simone, Morrison are names, and helped carry DC. Even guys like Ben Percy and Chris Priest had a modicum of talent. They've got Kong and Taylor, but they both suck, and any talent Williamson has is spread thing among the 6 books he's on. I like what Spurrier is doing though, and Vendittis Sandman is fun.
They're not really cultivating talent anymore, just hiring a bunch of jobbers. Journeymen who can pump out middling scripts
There hasn't been a good comic in more than five years, and there hasn't been a great comic in almost twenty. It's a zombie industry, kept alive as a corporate loss leader so long as it can serve as cheap storyboarding for movies. Both of the big two will be shuttered when that final lifeline is gone.
>good comic in more than five years
the nice house on the nice lake was fricking great, for all 4 issues then it was just fricking moronic
What’s it like to just hate everything hy default? Sounds like a miserable existence.
"I love the great despisers, because they are the great reverers, and arrows of longing for the other shore." -Nietzsche
shazam
superman
green lantern
that's it.
Superman is good enough.
These comics are dead. No one reads them anymore. Warner bros doesn't care and neither does DC. Most of the staff got gutted and there is no Group editor right now. It's just random ooc fanfiction shit. Ignore them.
I'll tell you which ones aren't good:
>World's Finest by Waid
>Shazam! by Waid
>Green Lantern by Adams
>The Flash by Spurrier
>Superman by Williamson
t. tini howard
I stay away from all Bathomosexualry because I know it's awful. I just forgot to mention it because I didn't actually read it.
Tell us which characters you like so much that you don't care how badly they're written an I'll tell you which comics those characters are in. That's the best I can offer. None are "good".
section 8
Based choice
Section 8 was last seen in "All-Star Section Eight" eight years ago. And will probably never appear again, unless you count the upcoming Hitman omnibus.
im still waiting
batman
Somewhat off topic, but what is some Batman media where it's relatively grounded, but still lighthearted?
Morrison’s run
There hasn't been a single good book from DC since 2015
100% agree. Final Crisis is the end.
Actual DC is dead.
>tfw nobody mentionned Ram V's Tec
for good reason.
Ram V's Tec isn't good. It has some neat qualities that are, for the lack of a better term, Vertigo-like, but it is bloated, absurdly slow paced, and frankly pretentious as hell. It's a "Batman comic" where Batman has been either dead or otherwise incapacitated for a solid year of real time now, and it's still going and going and not approaching the goal at all. All it does is wax poetic and invent 20 pointless new OCs, some of which have already died without doing anything.
Just because he's the only writer that wants to feature your shitty waifu doesn't mean he's writing a good book.
Anon did here:
they said it’s horrible.
Funny thing: the current DC ongoing that I have the most hopes for is actually the widely reviled Outsiders. I stress that it's not a good comic, at least not yet, but it is actively imitating a time and world that I really enjoyed (early 2000s Wildstorm) and that means if they just learn to imitate well enough, it will instantly become the best comic in the company. Low odds, high winnings.
My main issue with the comic currrently (other than lack of a real story) is that it entirely stars characters I don't give the least shit about. Probably why the writers were given so much leeway, nobody cares about Luke Fox and Kate Kane and the OCs aren't any better. If they just managed to get even one character I actively enjoy reading about, that might be enough to tip it over.
I had hopes for Outsiders. The first two issues were decent. Three was meh. And four was just pure dogshit.
I'm giving it o e more issue, but I'm very likely dropping it.
Batman is weird right now. I loved the first arc though.
Both Green Lantern books are excellent. I really like both Superman books. As weird as Batman is, I'm liking Batman and Robin. And Tom King is controversial but I'm really loving his Penguin series.
Also you asked for ongoings but I'll mention that the Jay Garrick and Wesley Dodds miniseries that are going on now are both great. There's a lot from DC I'm really loving right now.
World's Finest is good, despite the Kingdom Come arc ending being dogshit.
'Tec. It's aggravatingly slow as frick, but I'm enjoying the overall story and the back ups.
GL War Journal
Flash is decent
I've heard Spurrier's Hellblazer was good, so the new series is probably good, too.
Action comics
Superman
Detective Comics
Batman
Batman Offworld
Shazam
Worlds Finest
I gotta have my Superman/Batman, the post.
Forgot about Batman Off-World, but yeah that book has been really good.
>Batman Offworld
Huh. I ignored it since I'm not a fan of Aaron these days. Bu5 if it's actually good, I'll check it out.
You should definitely give it a shot. I think it's been a lot of fun.
Will do.
Ice cream? I love ice cream!
