Can someone tell me whats up with Bill Murray jerk, hes agopd actor he isn't some amazing actor. He seems to think of himself as one of the best actors ever and people seem to react to him similarly, but why? Hes good but not amazing.

he has always been a meme. he played slackers and oddballs and got a fan following that promoted the notion of him being a "great actor". This was amplified by talk shows and so on. It's just part of his act.

      >On February 18, 1978, on the set of Saturday Night Live, everyone was still fuming that Chevy Chase had quit the show for a better paying gig, but had returned as a guest host, de Semlyen explains. Fueled by competitiveness and mutual dislike, a heated conversation between Chase (a known “provocateur”) and Murry turned violent when Murray punched Chase.

      >“It was a huge altercation,” director John Landis, who witnessed the event, told de Semlyen. “They were big guys and really going at it. They were slapping at each other, screaming at each other, calling each other terrible names. The best insult, which made a huge impression on me, was by Bill. In the heat of anger, he pointed at Chevy and yelled, ‘MEDIUM TALENT!'”

      >Murray’s recollection of the event was different, according to the book.

      >“It was really a Hollywood fight; a don’t-touch-my-face kinda thing,” Murray told de Semlyen. “Chevy is a big man, I’m not a small guy, and we were separated by my brother Brian, who comes up to my chest. So it was king of a non-event. It was just the significance of it. It was an Oedipal thing, a rupture. Because we all felt mad he had left us, and somehow I was the anointed avenging angel, who had to speak for everyone.”

Does anyone know of any good places with more on set stories? The one code of honor these types actually stick too is not leaking on set drama unless they want to burn bridges. I just heard a story about an actor getting fired for melting down on set, but can't even find what movie it was.

Are those the ones where Shia LaBouef somehow got involved? I'm going to look for them. The director is an overrated, hype baby and was overmatched on a big movie set. Should be good.

          Anonymous

          Yep.
Wilde claimed she fired Shia for being creepy towards Pugh and not respecting her boundaries. Then Shia leaked a phone call of Wilde calling him in tears and begging for him to come back to the production, saying that she can sort out Pugh's issues. Shia explained that he quit because him and Pugh were on completely different pages regarding rehearsals and the characters' energies so he dropped out.
But that's not even half of the whole story regarding the bts of that film.
          To summarise
          >Wilde cheated on her husband with Styles on set (Sudeikis and their kids visited them on set)
          >Pugh directed the majority of the film because Wilde was busy making googly eyes
          >everyone lost faith in Wilde

I don't think anyone knows that (outside of insiders). At a complete guess, I'd wager that Pine probably voiced support for Pugh behind closed doors since everyone on set hated Wilde except for Styles. So it's probably as simple as Harry trying to be some alpha guy defending his lady

He screwed up his career when he shittalked Kingdom of the Crystal Skull shortly after it came out by saying they'd "dropped the ball", and both Spielberg and Harrison Ford were mad at him for that. That comment, especially considering he was a newbie brushing shoulders with stars that legendary, is a pretty stupid thing to say, because in filmmaking that an actor is meant to support the movie they're in no matter what they actually think about it. If it's bad, then you only say so years down the line.
But essentially, that's why he more or less vanished from mainstream films during the 2010s and mostly did indie stuff, barring a few supporting roles like in Fury. And it's also probably because he's not the best actor, either

      >hey guys I did a little surprise and bunched up the script, sorry it was so sudden but this is the best way to get around the studio buaracarcy, which would just kill the edge and creatively.

      >lol you are shit I am not, do what you are told or I’ll send you back to the coal mines.
      He was being an ass.

        >Hey guys, I just decided to not even ask anyone else what they think and just change the script, because I"m clearly in charge. WHAT? why's everyone so put off? All I did was cause a big confusing mess and slow down the production.

David O'Russell seems like an anomaly of a director to me. I don't think he has a single film that's had any actual cultural impact or staying power, yet he's critically praised and been Oscar-nominated multiple times. If you asked a random person in the street, I doubt they'd be able to tell you who he was. And every film he makes somehow has a massive ensemble cast absolutely full of A-listers despite his consistent reputation as an abusive and controlling bastard even by Hollywood levels. I just don't get it.

I used to think he was the same as Chuck Russell, who directed one of the nightmare on elm street sequels

His films have the largest cocaine budget in Hollywood, that's why

Kek. This guy has worked on movies. 10% of every Hollywood Blockbuster's budget is reserved for cocaine.

Ignoring Bill, do people get rewritten scripts on the day of the shoot? By this, I mean it was approved by the director.

it happens but it's usually a bad sign if it's a major production being rewritten (or written in general) that fast

Depends on how much of a shitshow the production is.

acting is he most cucked artistic field. it's arguably not even art at all. you're literally paid to stand there and recite dialogue someone else (the writer) wrote in the way someone else (the director) tells you to. you're a glorified dog doing tricks for treats and so every actor has this massive inferiority complex and they all try to grasp at any thread of creative input they can so the can convince themselves that they're an artist; that they're equal to the writers and director. "I don't think my character would say this" it's not your character, moron. it's the writer's character. now shut up and do what you're told.

McG is such a cowardly spineless homosexual. Not only has he never made a good film, but every bit of behind the scenes drama involving him always shows him as the most ineffectual wienersucker on set. Like a shitty babysitter.

so what movie are they even talking about, garfield?
this just sounds like a day at the office when working with creative types, i don't see the problem. better to have passionate big egos who stir shit up than have a team full of slop producing drones who do their best not to step on anyone's toes.

    >show up to work one day
    >instead of your usual computer with all your files that you're familiar with existing, a brand new mac or something is there
    >no one knows why, everyone has a new mac, you have a high priority project due at noon and the files were on the old computer
    >the oldhead guy, who is hierarchically your equal, strolls in at 11 and casually says he bought everyone new computers and had his friend in maintenance throw away the old shit
    >when someone complains about how difficult he made everyone's life, he calls her a dumb c**t who doesn't understand how things work in the big corporate world
