That trailer's over a year old by now. Things can change a LOT in between development and release.
This is especially relevant because the Vs 13 got a trailer and then it got cancelled. And Nomura is so salty and bitter about it that he's inserting his ideas into Kingdom Hearts going forward with Yozora.
When there's something actually playable then we can make a tally of what's in the game and what isn't. Not before.
If just the main console games contained the story and the mobile and Gameboy games were just side stories or quickie versions of the main stories, it would be fine. But you won't be able to follow the story by just playing the numbered game.
The story. The first game is fine, everything past that is moronic.
in KH1 Ansem was one person, you collect his reports and fight him at the end, it's implied it's the same person.
in KH2 they made it so there were 2 different characters named Ansem, and the reports you collect in the first one are not from the same person as the person you fight at the end.
The story became convoluted for no reason.
the gameplay is great in them. I prefer the gameplay in the first one. Second one has the drive forms which are an annoyance. 3rd one has too many special abilities / cutscene abilities.
It's ot, he means the thing where you summon disney theme park rides and use them as a weapon. It's basically cheating and you can just not use the. In fact I do believe you can just simply turn them off so they never appear in your green ability list which is what I did.
This was the most pointlessly convoluted retcon I've ever seen in my life
An honorable mention to nobodies looking exactly like their old-selves, no Nomura they don't, Xemnas and Namine looked different from Ansem and Kairi, so did Roxas, shove Ventus up your ass
no, the other Ansem wrote them, Ansem SoD is the main boss of KH1
Ansem SoD didn't do the research on darkness, that was the othe Ansem. Ansem SoD was his student who decided to steal his name.
No that was SoD doing the fricked up experiments he outlines in the reports. The real Ansem only wrote the first one >Upon his advice, I decided to review the data obtained at my basement lab.
That is when I discovered the "Ansem's Reports." >Though they bore my name, the only one I had written was number 0. >Apparently he had gone on to pen numbers 1 through 8 himself.
I whole heartedly agree. And it's all in service of creating DiZ, who's shows up to torture Roxas and then vanish from the entire rest of the game for some reason.
Story wise, too many spinoffs that were too important to the overall plot that became more convoluted as time went on
Gameplay wise, after KH2 instead of expanding on that they went for a simplified 3 hit flashy combo system with worse everything t
Fricking half what the frick are you talking abut? There is literally not a single fricking thing in it that isn't disney you disingenuous fricking liar!
Kingdom Hearts 3 doesn't which was what everyone in this thread was talking about. Even so, boring ass final acktasy characters don't take up fricking half! There's like five of them and they have two seconds on screen each, and those scenes are more than one of them at once.
Kingdom Hearts 3 barely had any new characters at all, it literally brought every last character who previously appeared back just so they wouldn't have to come up with new characters.
They usually don't have new characters dude. In fact 3 had more new characters than most of them. 3 had chirithy and Yozora and them star homies in purgatory one of which I think was yozora's friend, and it had le master of masters. There was also some guy who helped sora in the keyblade graveyard I guess, don't know what his deal is but maybe he doesn't count since he isn't really a character. more like a plot device.
From what I understand they were not nearly as boring in their original games so I'm sure it pissed off their fans too. I know they were still lame, just not as much.

Well it's not like that either. You can shoot though in some very specific circumstances like if you're riding on baymax or on rails or when you slide into cover, which is weird because it implies that Sora has the ability to shoot whenever he wants but never does even though it's so much stronger than swinging.

Oh yeah let's just ignore all FF characters and how the majority of the game's story is OC characters, fricking moron
This is a myth. Spider-man 3 was great. Fallout 3 was amasing and was the best game ever made for a while. JP 3 was the only good one of that trilogy. Super Mario Bros 3 couldn't be better. And there are many more examples too.
I've seen like 3 video essays in my recommended about how some other cut is good actually and while I don't jump on the hate train for spider-man 3 I feel like it's just another trendy thing to start saying spider-man 3 was great actually.
But none of this ever matters nd is never brought up again. These retcons are never ever relevant. And they don't count as retcons because they don't do shit. It doesn't retroactively change or recontextualise anything from the past games.

It was never said otherwise and there never was a reason besides Roxas and Namine to assume other wise, and we knew they were special since they games they first appeared in.
But it doesn't change anything except make it so that nobodies normally look like their others. Roxas is still sora's nobody he just happens to look different.
It's nonsense since Kairi is still not blonde and Ansem's obviously darker skin had to be changed to match Xemnas
Guess Nomura didn't want to shove more useless people inside them
1) The over decade long hiatus it took from releasing a mainline game to support mobile gaming platforms. This fractured the audience it had built on the PS2. Not saying that it was a bad thing to try a mobile title, but the problem is that they did so many on so many platforms on top. To keep up with the goings on as they released, you needed: PS2, GBA, a smart phone, NDS, PSP, 3DS, PC, and a PS4 or XB1. Also, save for re-releases, they skipped out on the 7th-gen consoles entirely which was a huge mistake.
2) The story got up its own ass. It barely makes any sense any more. This happens a lot to long-running IPs, but Japanese IPs are especially egregious about it. Even diehard KHgays have a hard time agreeing on the exact canonical lore of the series.
3) Industry practices sucked the fun out of it and squeeze fans for as much as they can. Selling you re-re-releases are bad enough, but merchandising is also a drain on the wallet. This is another thing that Japanese IPs are really bad about.
Also, I can't prove it, but I'm sure Disney execs have gotten more involved with the use of their IPs since KH3.
>Game claims to be about making friend with all your favorite disney characters and hanging out in their worlds >All you do is fricking fight things >When the characters do appear(in cutscenes) they don't even talk like people anymore
I'll say why. Because the story in 3 sucks.
Only gacha addicted morons care about Master of Masters and magic box of mystery.
KH1 to 2 are a very simple "friends are separated and reunite older and wiser" arc. That narrative arc concluded and the only way Nomura could think to continue things was to look into the camera and whine that he didn't get full creative control over Noctis.
I think he means when you get to the end of 2 and the three of them are home at last they should've ended the story and introduced a new protagonist and plot line. I don't know if I agree but it's hard to imagine it being worse than what happened.

I'm not sure what you want. Most people agree the story keeps getting worse in almost every way imaginable as it goes on. What anon suggested was that ending Sora's story and starting over fresh instead of having this sprawling, insanely convoluted saga across a dozen spin offs and timelines and shit would've been better. I don't know what you don't understand.
You grew up.
Unironically. It is now the same as it always was from the start. You just grew up and decided it was cringe instead of accepting it's the same goofy cheese you ate up as a kid.
After playing multiple games in the series, I've noticed how they would leave my mind feeling numb. Despite everything they have going in the gameplay, it becomes watered down by a story that I'm no longer interested in (and actually now loathe), and can't avoid due to the games ultimately being pretty linear.
All you do is fight a bunch of enemies in endurance rounds then edvance to the next area through what might as well be a single passage ways.
At certain points you get cutsceans, which are sometimes cringe, so if it wasn't bad enough that the story was fricked they have to make it unbearable to watch.
Eventually, I don't even look foward to fighting crowds of enemies.
Simply put. Fight loads of monsters; go to next area to fight more monsters, but be interrupted by shitty story before playing same thing over. The mini-games and some abilities become worse too. Does the action gameplay in that you DO get to experience outweigh the negatives? Well. Not in my opinion. I finally got it out of my sight a long time ago by selling it off.
>No Goku cross over >Final Fantasy getting cucked >Pixar without adding other Square properties to compensate something like chrono trigger would have been perfect >Canon mobile games for babies >Wasting resources on recreating a song only 3-6 year old like >Huge gaps in time between games killed all the hype the children who liked these games had and moved on to big boy games like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto
The plot got increasingly convoluted for no good reason. It's not like it's impossible to follow, but after the first game you can't help but wonder who the frick the target demographic of this is supposed to be other than people who played the first game as kids.
Making it up the story as it went along.
Using light and dark as ambiguous enough to say and do what ever you want with it in the story.
Getting waaaaaaay to corny even for Disney standards.
Really just writing them self into a corner so they could shovel out constant games making you spend money on each game with a new console.
This, Kingdom Hearts peaked at 2 and it not even cause it was the first one I played. You can tell it went to confuse so many fans with the director autism and inspecting us to understand him. BBS was the last KH I was genuine interesting storywise. But then even it's lore and story felt lackluster, change the enemy name from unbirth to unverse. Then Ansem VA changed in KH1 along with other things.
It always felt like it never really knew what it was going for. The Disney movie recreations could have been replaced by things like entirely new stories with those characters, crossing into each other's tales because of some Darkness frickery. I was dreaming of Elsa and Mulan joining Aladdin but they just didn't make much of an attempt. Also it would have been cool to see more anime characters in KH somehow to really drive home the "East meets West" concept. Square's characters are okay, but come on, imagine seeing Goku, Astro Boy, Luffy, Lupin III, Oscar François de Jarjayes, and the Pokémon crew interacting with Disney characters. Heck might as well find a way to get Warner Bros and Paramount to join in. That's what I always imagined a "perfect" Kingdom Hearts spiritual successor could be if some Saudi billionaire funded it
>"The Disney movie recreations could have been replaced by things like entirely new stories with those characters, crossing into each other's tales because of some Darkness frickery."
That kind shit was off-limits even in KH1's days, it goes against Disney's internal guidelines regarding crossovers with its cinematic works, televised works, animated shorts, and how it all works.
Remember world order? Remember Donald and Goofy explicitly telling Aladdin that they couldn't take him out of Agrabah to find Jasmine after you complete that world's storyline in KH1? That's the Disney guidelines at work.
Being a jarpig, instead of something fun. (Like a platformer.)

AT-ST foot in the KH4 trailer suggests they might be doing Return of the Jedi.
No way they would do ROTJ first, that's just silly. They would have to do New Hope of course.
I'm hoping some more obscure Disney stuff gets in, or more cartoony worlds like the Timeless River. I would love a Ducktales world or Roger Rabbit.
That trailer's over a year old by now. Things can change a LOT in between development and release.

Kingdom hearts 3.
The gameplay was a departure from 1 n 2.
3 wasn't a very well designed game.
The only reason Kingdom Hearts 3 isn't the worst threequel in vidya history is because Mass Effect 3 exists and even then it's pretty close.
3 is an unlucky number. Dead Space 3 was ass too.
Doom 3 is fine.

nomura refused to end it.
The film, it's gonna be mix of live action and cgi, already I'm out.
Nothing.
not Cinemaphile

This, Kingdom Hearts peaked at 2 and it not even cause it was the first one I played. You can tell it went to confuse so many fans with the director autism and inspecting us to understand him. BBS was the last KH I was genuine interesting storywise. But then even it's lore and story felt lackluster, change the enemy name from unbirth to unverse. Then Ansem VA changed in KH1 along with other things.
KH2 was trash, KH1 was better.
For you, I get the dark tone felt different compare to the rest of series, but I legit think KH2 was natural evolution from the KH1 tone
Do we know who MoM is yet? And what the frick was he trying to do again?
Too much Final Fantasy autism.
I think you meant Testuya Nomura autism, as FF has been slowly tuned out
>Implying Final Fantasy wasn't already autistic before Nomura.
Yeah, it's Final Fantasy autism
Making it a drawn out long running series scattered over a dozen different games on half a dozen different platforms.

Disney meddling +Nomura's autism for"storytelling"
KH3 was the result of both going too far
gays.
They decided to continue after 2
when they stopped having the princesses be in the stain glass
