All the villain designs were awesome. Vegeta going rogue was badass. Power creep wasn't at an absurd level. Ginyu force and Freezas henchmen were all nicely designed.
Watching some of the fights in this era will make you reconsider entertaining Super as cannon.
>truly fricked
Literally. The last episodes when they get out of Buu and when he turns into kid buu and just goes crazy made up for the slow parts of the saga for me.
All three buus were pretty big threats to earthlings. Fat Buu wrecking shit when nobody could stop him until mr satan gets on his good side, super buu killing and eating everyone while also attacking the earth’s defenders, and kid buu of course
This, only wish we got a flashback arc to show Goku hitting SS 3. Buu had all the stakes raised, Otherworld being involved, genocide, fusion, and just so much more.
Saiyan saga > Frieza saga > the others. Even in the manga the Frieza saga dragged just a bit too long, and the Saiyan Saga had better fights imo. Goku & Piccolo vs Raditz is one of the best scraps in shounen period.
I still can't figure out if Android saga is supposed to include Cell as well. I think the latter half of the Cell portion marked the downhill slope the series went on.
DBZ was all about life or death situations and (relative to shounen) practical decision making until Goku decided to give Cell that senzu bean. People are always quick to bring up Vegeta letting Cell transform but what Goku did was 10x worse.
Based saiyan saga appreciator. The Goku vs vegeta fight is the best in the series and I refuse to change my mind. It's also the only saga that doesn't really suffer from toriyama's figure it out as you go writing style.
Literally filtered. Goku giving cell the senzu bean is one of the highest iq plays in the series, but it goes over most people's heads. >haha goku is le dumb
b***h he's smarter than you
Saiyan Saga was dumb because it just immediately retconned a frickton of stuff from Dragon Ball >Goku was an alien the entire time >There were a bunch of them and they were all evil >Getting hit on the head made him good
Namek Saga wasn't bad but it scaled the power levels to the point of >Vegeta could have destroyed the Earth at 18,000 as we saw it would be pretty instantaneous >Frieza in his final form was 60,000,000 and he threw an attack that was 3,333x stronger and that somehow didn't completely erase the planet from existence and it was going to blow up at an arbitrary time later
Androids was best because it all tied into Dr. Gero so was and still is the ONLY DBZ/GT/Super saga to have anything at all to do with the original series >Biggest problem with the android saga is that somehow, someway, Dr. Gero was able to manufacture metals that could be used to form parts that magically strengthened 17 and 18 to the point of being stronger than a super saiyan. >Because that would also allow their bones and muscles and organs to not get instantly torn to shreds by beings that could punch through alien metals
Buu Saga is straight up garbage
Super is recycled garbage
At least GT tried something different even if it wasn't great.
From what I’ve seen this show is an endless parade of dick measuring contests. That being said, what are the dragon balls for? Wouldn’t that be like a penis pump? I feel like it takes away from the plot
>what are the dragon balls for?
To grant wishes >Wouldn’t that be like a penis pump?
The frick? >I feel like it takes away from the plot
The dragon balls often thread into the plot because the bad guy wants them for eternal life or more power. The good guys use them to revive the dead or in Bulma's case, make her ass more firm and perky. True story
I like the cell saga the most however ngl the Tfs parody made both sagas better than they were. The buu saga dragged on for a long time and everything from super is plot armored hard.
TFS IS SO FUNNY BRO! THEY ARE SO CREATIVE! I LOVE THE JOKE WHERE THEY MAKE YAJIROBE AND KORRIN GAY! AND THE JOKE WHERE THEY MAKE CELL GAY! AND THE JOKE WHERE THEY MAKE DENDE GAY (EXTRA FUNNY BECAUSE HE’S A CHILD)! AND THE JOKE WHERE THEY MAKE BROLY GAY! WHERE DO THEY COME UP WITH THIS STUFF???
Nah they didn't. The tone is all over the place in TFS Cell Saga because they tried to make it their own dub at times while still having stupid meme spewing jokes.
>Frieza as a boss was built up for most of the series.
Z-gays really do love making up shit. Even if you don't give a shit about dragon ball at all, Freiza isn't even brought up until the end of the sayian saga
>Compare that to prior when Kaio-Ken would multiply your strength, speed, and agility at a considerable cost.
And now Goku can use it combined with SSJ Blue with little to no setback.
The whole point of Kaio-Ken was that it would basically overclock your ki to increase power beyond your natural ceiling. It's not designed to be maintained long term.
Saiyan Saga.
Goku vs Vegeta is the best fight in the series. What makes it all the better is that Goku never unlocks some asspull mid-fight like every other Goku fight in the series. Even the filler is great and gives Gohan character development.
Saiyan saga was kino. Dbz could have ended at freiza saga. It wouldn't have anywhere near the following today though if the cell saga never happened. Buu saga had some nice moments like Majin vegeta vs goku and vegetal sacrifice but other than that it was drawn out garbage slop
it's still a shit ending. we spent all these years watching goku raise a family and make tons of friends and then he just leaves them all to train some character we've never seen before. what reason does he even have to train someone when goku is still by far the most capable fighter in the universe
Goku has been trying to find a replacement since he beat Freeza. He refused the Guardian of Earth job but wound up doing it anyways and like Kami wanted to pass it off to Gohan or Vegata, and then Trunks and Goten, all of whom turned out to be shit options. Then that plotline was dropped in Super.
>what reason does he even have to train someone when Roshi is still by far the most capable fighter on the planet?
Come on anon. You could have figured this out
Uub is the reincarnation of Kid Buu. Goku is interested in Uub's potential. Right before killing Kid Buu with the Spirit Bomb Goku says he wished he could fight Buu again someday. You seem to misunderstand Goku, he's always interested in fighting strong people and seeing their potential. Of course Goku would train Uub, it's a great ending for his character.
The funny thing now is that with the inclusion of Super now, Uub being the reincarnation of Kid Buu doesn't really make him all that strong compared to Goku and Vegeta.

Dragon Ball just got restored by some French company with perfect fideltiy and the original broadcast audio. Hoping they can do the same for Z since almost every home release is shit
Saiyan followed by Freeza. Freeza is good but it drags on a bit, though my perception is warped from it looping from the start so many times back when it first aired and they were waiting for new episodes.
>that one dude who made the multiuniversal fan manga only for super to come out a year later with it's own multiuniverse tournament and caused him to get so butthurt he gave up completely
Imperfect cell is best villian >starts out weaker then the main characters when he shows and up and gets btfo in his encounter >has to sneak around and using his mind over might to get strong enough to take on the main characters by vore'ing some cities worth of people >still not strong enough to take on super piccolo or 17, but waits for them to beat the shit of each other first and picks them off when they are tired and worn down from the fight >achieves his goal despite being weaker then any of his opponents and achieves his Black person form
This was the true ending of DBZ and you can't fricking tell me otherwise. >Gohan's potential hinted at throughout the series and comes in clutch several times >Goku realizes his son has got the goods and passes the torch by handing the badguy a senzu bean >Gohan, a teenager, achieves what none of the pureblood saiyans achieved their entire lives and harnesses that potential because he's motivated by human empathy instead of saiyan bloodlust
Aaaaand then it's just undone, and there is no meta story or character growth for anyone, just villain of the week and hair changes.
Gohan never made sense as the protagonist and Toriyama quickly realized it. Cell saga was a mistake. He’s a dork who wants to be a scholar, not a great warrior
freeza of course
this.
I'd say early Freeza/Namek.
All the villain designs were awesome. Vegeta going rogue was badass. Power creep wasn't at an absurd level. Ginyu force and Freezas henchmen were all nicely designed.
Watching some of the fights in this era will make you reconsider entertaining Super as cannon.
Buu.
>Dude what if we did Cell again but moronic and pink
>Dude what if we made Cell actually good and got rid of that dipshit Gohan?
This. Only time the earth was truly fricked

Android saga is last great saga everything after is hit or miss
Baste

>haha goku is le dumb
b***h he's smarter than you
Please explain
>Goku decided to give Cell that senzu bean
It was a flex. Goku had full confidence Gohan could beat Cell and was ultimately proven right.
Lol wut?
Goku knew that Gohan could take him either way, while Vegeta miscalculated horribly.
Saiyan Saga was dumb because it just immediately retconned a frickton of stuff from Dragon Ball

Ok chud
for me its emperor pilaf
King Piccolo
We've been over this
Frieza>DB>Cell>GT>Buu>Super
I really like when Goku died the first time and was messing around in the afterlife. Or when Vegeta arrived on namek and started fricking things up.
From what I’ve seen this show is an endless parade of dick measuring contests. That being said, what are the dragon balls for? Wouldn’t that be like a penis pump? I feel like it takes away from the plot

go away zoomer scum, just watch kai if you want better pacing and writing
Nah they didn't. The tone is all over the place in TFS Cell Saga because they tried to make it their own dub at times while still having stupid meme spewing jokes.
Buu with Satan
The Tournament of Power is great.
Android saga>Cell>Babidi/World tournament>Cell>Sayians>>>>Buu
Most of the sagas are good except Buu but Android into cell is exceptionally kino
I'm white and Dragon Ball is kino
Same here
argensimians aren't white
Red Ribbon Army
Kino. Dragon Ball mogs Z so hard
>mfw I will never watch king piccolo’s goon kill krillin for the first time again
Best saga tbh really raised the stakes and gave us one of the best characters of the show. My homie homielo
It ends with the Freiza saga because the legend of the Super Saiyan was a once in a thousand generation phenomenon.
The Android mini-saga was a nice epilogue. But it officially ends when Frieza dies. Frieza as a boss was built up for most of the series.
This is because after Frieza saga, people can just turn into Super Saiyan n + 1. Which removed the stakes entirely.
Compare that to prior when Kaio-Ken would multiply your strength, speed, and agility at a considerable cost.
t. DBZ website builder at age 12
true but I'm glad they keep going with it
>Frieza as a boss was built up for most of the series.
Z-gays really do love making up shit. Even if you don't give a shit about dragon ball at all, Freiza isn't even brought up until the end of the sayian saga
it's no secret that toriyama just made up new shit every week that's why the android arc has like 10 villains and cell keeps coming back
That wasn't completely his fault though, his editor was a demanding prick and kept saying his villains in that arc weren't good enough.
He was right. No one wants to see Dr. Gero or Android 19 as the villains
M-moot?
>Compare that to prior when Kaio-Ken would multiply your strength, speed, and agility at a considerable cost.
And now Goku can use it combined with SSJ Blue with little to no setback.
It's called getting stronger
The whole point of Kaio-Ken was that it would basically overclock your ki to increase power beyond your natural ceiling. It's not designed to be maintained long term.
Saiyan Saga.
Goku vs Vegeta is the best fight in the series. What makes it all the better is that Goku never unlocks some asspull mid-fight like every other Goku fight in the series. Even the filler is great and gives Gohan character development.
Saiyan Saga 7/10
Namek/Ginyu Saga 6/10
Frieza Saga 8/10 (the best)
Garlic Jr Saga 3/10 (worst saga)
Android Saga 6/10
Cell Saga 6/10
Tournament/Babadi Saga 7/10
Buu Saga 4/10
My homie, Babadi saga doesn’t get enough appreciation
I loved the Body Horror transformations you see in this show.
>Goku vs Piccolo Jr
23rd Tenkaichi Budokai.
These anons have good taste
Saiyan saga was kino. Dbz could have ended at freiza saga. It wouldn't have anywhere near the following today though if the cell saga never happened. Buu saga had some nice moments like Majin vegeta vs goku and vegetal sacrifice but other than that it was drawn out garbage slop
23rd tenkaichi budokai
Wtf is that soulless artstyle post the original designs homosexual
buu kai is so shit it's unreal
>Goku abandons his family and friends to train a black kid
Name a worse ending than this.
it's gonna get retconned don't worry
Goku isn't exactly hard to find
all of them except chi-chi could sense where he is and fly over to him in minutes
it's still a shit ending. we spent all these years watching goku raise a family and make tons of friends and then he just leaves them all to train some character we've never seen before. what reason does he even have to train someone when goku is still by far the most capable fighter in the universe
he just wants a rival that isn't the prince of all jobbers
Goku has been trying to find a replacement since he beat Freeza. He refused the Guardian of Earth job but wound up doing it anyways and like Kami wanted to pass it off to Gohan or Vegata, and then Trunks and Goten, all of whom turned out to be shit options. Then that plotline was dropped in Super.
What could Uub possibly do that can rival Ultra Instinct
Fuse with Majin Buu
Learn Ultra Instinct himself? Can't see why Goku wouldn't teach it to him eventually.
Goku wouldn't see his friends for years at a time. It just never felt that way because there are massive time skips between chapters.
Super changed that, they see each other regularly before the time skip now so it makes the ending even stranger
Yeah but Super was a fricking mistake
>what reason does he even have to train someone when Roshi is still by far the most capable fighter on the planet?
Come on anon. You could have figured this out
Uub is the reincarnation of Kid Buu. Goku is interested in Uub's potential. Right before killing Kid Buu with the Spirit Bomb Goku says he wished he could fight Buu again someday. The funny thing now is that with the inclusion of Super now, Uub being the reincarnation of Kid Buu doesn't really make him all that strong compared to Goku and Vegeta.
Just swap Uub with Pan and it's a fitting ending
Broly got made canon. Could Slug be next?
Probably my giga homie Cooler, but I'd love my homies Slug and Turles to get the canon treatment too.
Turles got recycled into Goku Black probably
Android
Namek because it actually involves the Dragon balls.

Namek saga
i like saiyan through the android stuff but cell and buu can frick off
Saiyan saga. Ocean dub.
I'm into the Japanese version, but i fully admit the Ocean dub was amazing.
The in house voices afterwards were poor imitations.
I remember watching the Japanese episodes on the International channel back in the late 90s, it was awesome.
Know if that was boadcast audio?
No idea. It was the later episodes like around the Buu Saga I believe. Might have even been Dragon Ball GT.
The cutoff happens sometime during the Ginyu Force right? The pacing only gets worse when the Goku vs Frieza fight starts.
>that one dude who made the multiuniversal fan manga only for super to come out a year later with it's own multiuniverse tournament and caused him to get so butthurt he gave up completely
show goes to shit and loses its soul when it's no longer kid goku
Goku looking at bulma's vulva
>What saga is the best?
all of them
freeza
I thought the buu saga was the funniest
>God Tier
Frieza
>Great Tier
Trunks, Imperfect Cell, Perfect Cell, Cell Games, World Tournament
>Good Tier
Saiyan, Ginyu, Androids, Babidi, Majin Buu
>Mixed Bag Tier
Namek, Great Saiyaman, Fusion, Kid Buu
>Bad Tier
Garlic Jr
Imperfect cell is best villian
>starts out weaker then the main characters when he shows and up and gets btfo in his encounter
>has to sneak around and using his mind over might to get strong enough to take on the main characters by vore'ing some cities worth of people
>still not strong enough to take on super piccolo or 17, but waits for them to beat the shit of each other first and picks them off when they are tired and worn down from the fight
>achieves his goal despite being weaker then any of his opponents and achieves his Black person form
There is nothing good after the Saiyan saga.
was it kino?
I really liked it. Best looking modern anime that I've seen by far. Real shame about how the next one turned out.
Gokoo
>bleeding heart liberal gay from California
>moves to Texas for lower taxes while still strongly supporting Dems
He is walking cliché
Sayian
The Dragon Ball franchise ended when Piccolo Junior was defeated by Goku
What the frick is Toryamas problem?
Is there a version of this with like captain marvel and thanos? I could see this being a good meme template about strong whamen "characters"
Name a better moment
This was the true ending of DBZ and you can't fricking tell me otherwise.
>Gohan's potential hinted at throughout the series and comes in clutch several times
>Goku realizes his son has got the goods and passes the torch by handing the badguy a senzu bean
>Gohan, a teenager, achieves what none of the pureblood saiyans achieved their entire lives and harnesses that potential because he's motivated by human empathy instead of saiyan bloodlust
Apparently the fans at the time turned on it hard.
>Gohan never made sense as the protagonist
It was the end of the fricking series; it didn't matter
My personal favorite is when Trunks goes back to the future and kills 17 & 18. That sequence is ice cold. Trunks was not fricking playing.
