I watched the whole thing. If I was going to rewatch it again with no memory of the show, I'd advise myself to only watch the first 4 seasons, since that's the cleanest end with the most plotlines tied off before shit gets ugly.

What's so bad about the Battle of the Bastards?

          Anonymous

          >What's so bad about the Battle of the Bastards?

In the books, the Boltons are barely holding onto the North, they are having to rely on Frey reinforcements to bolster their ranks. There was this saying in the show, you may have heard of it called "the North remembers". That's why all the Northern houses are rallying with Stannis in the books to throw the Boltons out.

None of the Northern houses turn on the Boltons.

Having Ramsay fighting outside of a fricking castle is beyond idiotic when it is calculated that you need 3 times the forces to besiege and take a castle.

Oh by the way I'll let Rickon go for no reason and he almost gets away (hey Rickon ever heard of zig zagging?). Yea Ramsay let's not use him as a hostage.

The battle begins and Jon stupidly rushes in on his horse towards the Bolton calvary. He is 100% dead, oh but wait at perfect timing Jon's calvary manages to crash into the Bolton calvary before Jon dies.

Davos bringing in the archers into melee range. Along with Ramsay "let's fire on our own troops".

Also having Jon Umber be one of the main side villains with Ramsey was so fricking offensive when you realize in the books Jon was at the Red Wedding, throwing over a table and fighting and dying to protect Robb.

And last, but not least, Sansa not telling Jon, or Blackfish or any of the other houses about the Vale army coming up North (that Ramsay should have known about due to him controlling Moat Cailin right?) and they could just wait and concentrate their forces together and crush Ramsay.

Eh, haven't read the books, I agree mostly I guess. I didn't like it because I remember those piles of corpses being stupid or something, I dunno whatever.
            >Having Ramsay fighting outside of a fricking castle is beyond idiotic when it is calculated that you need 3 times the forces to besiege and take a castle
This is not idiotic thoroughever, Ramsay has vastly superior numbers, he doesn't have to hole up in Winterfell, he can just march into battle and crush the enemy in a pitched battle in a day, why would he want to go into a protracted siege where he has to feed and pay a large standing army, he doesn't need to, you defend the castle when you're at a disadvantage and he isn't.
            >Oh by the way I'll let Rickon go for no reason and he almost gets away
I mean he didn't really mean to let him go, he was going to kill him anyway, he just tried to use him to kill Jon too. I thought it was ok.
            >The battle begins and Jon stupidly rushes in on his horse towards the Bolton calvary. He is 100% dead, oh but wait at perfect timing Jon's calvary manages to crash into the Bolton calvary before Jon dies.
Yeah that's bad writing because it's basically moronic generic tv slop shit, in GoT when a character does something like that he usually pays for it by dying. But I wouldn't say it's stupid, I would have rushed to save my brother, but I agree Jon should've died.

              >Ramsay has vastly superior numbers, he doesn't have to hole up in Winterfell, he can just march into battle and crush the enemy in a pitched battle in a day,

Except Ramsay has scouts, like say from Moat Cailin and the Neck telling him of his huge fricking Vale army coming. Or at least that's how logically it should go. They spent season 4 establishing how important Moat Cailin was when Ramsay took it.

              >I mean he didn't really mean to let him go, he was going to kill him anyway, he just tried to use him to kill Jon too. I thought it was ok.

Why would you do that and not use him as a hostage? Oh frick, why would you risk him running.

              >I would have rushed to save my brother,

I agree, which is why Jon would have logically died again in that scene. Honestly the way they treated Rickton's character, they should have just had his death off screen, would have served the same purpose.

                >Except Ramsay has scouts, like say from Moat Cailin and the Neck telling him of his huge fricking Vale army coming.
All the more reason to attack the enemy directly, defeating each force separately before they linked up would've been Ramsay's best chance.
                >Why would you do that and not use him as a hostage?
For what, again he has the advantage or presumably thinks so, he's out to kill all the Starks and thinks this is going to be easy work for his army, he doesn't need to.

                >All the more reason to attack the enemy directly, defeating each force separately before they linked up would've been Ramsay's best chance.

His forces have already weakened due to fighting Stannis' army. He would have to wipe out Jon's army quick considering the Vale army is literally like an hour or two away or something. Probably would be a better idea to retreat to retreat behind Winterfell's walls, or the Dreadfort or Deepwood Motte and wait for the winter weather to really kick back up and wait them out.

                >For what, again he has the advantage or presumably thinks so, he's out to kill all the Starks and thinks this is going to be easy work for his army, he doesn't need to.

I guess so, if he's gonna do that, why not just flay him and have his corpse on top of winterfell?

Never dropped it but I lost excitement around 7-8, not due to the decline in quality but the increased gap between seasons. Even with the show going to complete shit at Season 5, it was still an entertaining ride due to eternal/got/, finding out the conclusions and seeing which fan theories fall apart.
I just can't stand waiting 2 to 3 years for a story to continue. I enjoyed House of the Dragon but by the time S2 airs, I have 0 hype, it's not something I am actively excited for. If there was 2 year gaps between GoT from S1, it definitely would have flopped and probably only managed 3 seasons.

I hope AI advances to a point where actors and animators are no longer necessary

I think that was the initial plan with "Bloodmoon" being the first follow-up series, then HotD.
We should be grateful we didn't get that series where the native inhabitants of Westeros (children of the forest) were going to be all nogs and the script would be 100% ~~*original material*~~. It would have been Rings of Power on steroids.

We will be getting 2 more Targ shows

Apparently when they filmed the pilot for Bloodmoon HBO took one look at it and said "this is so god awful that we need to take a 35 million lose on this or it will ruin this franchise forever".

I hope one day we can see the unaired GOT pilot and Bloodmoon pilot.

HOTD was a temp taker: would people still watch it or was the franchise completely dead.
of course they were unprepared for it to actually be successful. they’re scrambling now to roll out other spinoffs. you’ll get your wish and be inundated until you don’t care care anymore. give it like 3-4 years.

Season 5, Episode 10 is when I definitely turned on the show. I think I yelled outload several times at the tv while watching it. I was sitting there completely perplexed and confused by what the frick I was seeing. It was bad, I was thinking this must be a fake out and there must be some 4 D chess move behind it all. (there wasn't). It was like from one scene to the next, one big shock / death that makes zero logical sense. I mean the Littlefinger and Stannis actor are on record saying "I have no idea why character is doing what he is doing".

    >The opening shot is like The Producers level sketch. After Stannis burned his own daughter (again makes no sense, you can get food from fishing the Long Lake that is LITERALLY RIGHT NEXT TO THEM), the snow starts melting and a warm front keeps in, but suddenly like a power point, Stannis' wife kills herself, the sellswords (nice job getting your money idiots) and Melisandre all flee and magically take all the horses with them. Stannis prepares for the siege of Winterfell, but suddenly out of nowhere this huge Bolton army comes out of nowhere and we have a battle offscreen. I guess the North really didn't remember, because why are all the houses loyal to the Boltons? I mean in the books, the Boltons are having to fortify their positions in the North with the Freys from Riverlands. So we go from an open field to a woody area and for no logical reason Brienne and Stannis are both facing each other, because the Boltons and Stannis armies don't exist anymore and Brienne kills Stannis offscreen. It was stupid, I actually thought this was a fake out and she didn't kill Stannis and the sellswords were doing some 4 d chess pincer move on the Boltons that Stannis ordered, but no.
    >Ramsay leaves Theon and Sansa unguarded and they jump off the castle walls of Winterfell and are fine.
    Continued...

      >"You want a nice girl, but you need the bad pussy,", along with Jaime finally saving Myrcella, oh but she dies on the boat to King's Landing. The laziest writing every is to kill off plot lines by just killing off characters for the shock value.
      >Trant is a pedophile, because we got to make him so super evil that it looks amazing when Arya kills him.
      >We need to have Jonathan Pryce / High Sparrow and Cersei / Lena Headey in a small room together emoting with their faces, with the camera zooming in on their faces, just like Stephen Dillane / Stannis making powerful emoting faces while facing the Bolton army / Brienne. Wow these faces, we have reconceived the role to fit the actor.
      >Lena Headey CGI face slapped on that obvious body double
      >Jon is killed by his officers because "he let the Wildlings in", which is stupid for numerous reasons. 1. Why would you let the Wildings in and THEN kill Jon? 2. Why are you upset about letting the Wildings in when you know for a fact the White Walkers are coming and if you leave them behind the wall that is more undead for their armies for you to fight?

The Mother's Mercy, season 5, episode 10, was one of the worst episodes of GOT.

The problem with that rating is that the episode stands in comparison to the dogshit that was the rest of season 6. When in reality it was just a brief return to the great quality of the early seasons but in no way a 9.9/10.

Watched 2 first, liked it, watched 1, didn't like it. Read the books, may have watched some of 3 and 4. Didn't have the opportunity to see any of the rest while show was going. Had the end spoiled by this shithole. Watched cleganebowl.

Also played the pc game early on. The one with Mors. That was great.

I gave up when I watched the guy get his dick cut off. Too degenerate for me. That could have been a clip. May have given up before that, same as the books, where the coward kills his redhead friend. Shoots her with an arrow or something. Should have eloped with her.

The only great thing about the show was the hound.

I didn't make it to see wishmaster get his skull crushed, but I saw a clip of it. Good riddance. Required to give cleganebowl gravity.

Nice to see people go "no" when Sandor's getting the same treatment on that bar reaction channel. Character should be received exactly like that. Not always the case. Usually people side with the most powerful. Or as immoral as they are.

    Good end.
