Creator is literally Japanese-American who grew up on cape anime you never heard of
>Still A-American!
Still more Japanese than any weeb who wishes they were
The lore is more interesting and fascinating that most cartoons with it. The gems and other girls are cute, the art style is pretty and unique even if it's """""cal arts style"""", the melodrama does tug at you when it actually works.
But it has a lot of hate too and especially on Cinemaphile. Even most of the fans outside of Cinemaphile shit on it for the inconsistent animation and bad writing. It's not really controversial, in fact eventually it's going to be called overhated and then a cycle will start
people back then were really weird.
Strangely enough I hate Molly McGee more then I ever hated Owl House because I got more to work with narrative wise from Dana then I ever got from Sam King.

STEVEN UNIVERSE
i really, really dont understand the appeal. its so fricking gay and moronic. id understand if little girls liked it but i dont think little girls are on here.
its terribly animated and the story is so fricking bad and almost raspberry worthy.
It had it's moments, I think it peaked at jail break.
i felt it had no morals or fables to actually have a decent story. from the (idk) 6 hours i watched of it, it was literally some little whiney fat kid just being told by a bunch of women who where not female at all acshully! on how to sort stuff out that was barely relevant, i get its for kids but how a fricking adult can sit there and claim its one of the best cartoons is deluded. or a troony, so 6of1 and half a dozen.
A lot of the fans started watching as kids and just wouldn't be analyzing it too deeply even if certain parts dragged. As adults now it could just be nostalgia keeping them around.
>watched it as kids
????
Nta but the show is over 10 years old now
i dont think 14 year olds are sat on fortiechains reminiscing about fricking steven universe. the only people on this board who watched it where adults when it came out.
The first episode aired when I was 13
when you where a teenager, not a fricking kid.
What was your response to it back then?
I watched it with my brothers but I hated the singing
Did your brothers like it?
They did like it but they didn't understand my reaction to the singing, they were also younger so.
Do they like the show still? Also what other cartoons did you prefer at the time?
I'm not sure if they like it still they don't talk about it though. At that time I was more into adventure time and gumball.
The gem characters were attractive and enjoyable and i liked the art style when the storyboarders werent fricking all over the place from an off model scale. But yeah the shows quality tanked as it went onto later seasons and i say that as a fan
>The gem characters were attractive
No they weren't, they literally look like tumblr OCs (I mean that isn't surprising given who the creator is), I don't know why you gays thirst over them. The only one who's passable is Lapis and maybeee Garnet.
anon, nobody actually likes it here. its just shitposting and waifus
Its mostly the worldbuilding. The thing that keeps you watching is wanting to learn more about the gems
Hasbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. I just think the show tries too hard to be edgy while also not even fricking trying. They wanna be edgy but they also don't wanna offend the 5 percent of the world. I just wanna grab Vivzie's belly and breed with her. Like damn.
Why are you so obsessed with Vivzie? Like she's a fat disgusting slob.
Shes a fat slob that I love and wanna breed with.
We should list Cinemaphile golden gooses first.
>DCAU (BTAS, STAS, JL/JLU/BB)
>Teen Titans
>Gravity Falls
>Adventure Time
>ATLA
>Samurai Jack
>Venture Bros
>Moral Orel
>Ed, Edd, N Eddy
>Spectacular Spider-man
>Arcane
>Infinity Train
>Regular Show
>Primal
>South Park
>Ben 10
>Avengers' Earth's Mightiest heroes
Of these, Ben 10 and Regular Show are the ones I'd consider to be mediocre shows that are overly praised. there's certain shows that Cinemaphile talks about a lot that I can't tell if the consensus is good like Steven Universe, Owl House, and The Loud House.
I think the time and situation these shows were watched in changes how good it was too. Usually with older shows like that life was better for them personally or in general for multiple reasons and they would also have to probably catch it in bits at a time on cable instead of binge watching.
Amphibia and TOH were the last hyper popular shows in not getting binge format I think.
Probably Hazbin Hotel too but it had so little episodes.
Been binge watching BTAS for the first time recently and it still holds up despite being the oldest one on this list, age has frick all to do with it
>Tfw I hate none of these shows or haven't seen them yet
Damn...I can't participate in this thread :(.
>No mention of Gumball
>Adds shows that are really fricking bad
Cinemaphile needs a full on search team to check every anon who comes here who isnt a twitter tourist or a reddit tourist
The latest seasons of Gumball are twitter incarnate though
>The latest seasons of Gumball are twitter incarnate though
>Doesnt realize most of the late seasons don't focus on meta jokes or twitter bait and is just watching by a clips of twitter or youtube
Anon just watch the fricking show and dont be a clipwatching gay I've watched the show safe to say that twitter incarnate is small in the latter seasons
Boooh, he was right. Gumball stopped being good after s3, that one was the GOAT, even among some other shows. s4 is hit and miss, and 5 and 6 are just bad and have forced humor. The characters become completely flanderized.
Hey, but don't trust me, I just watch youtube clips
OPs favorite show.
your pic related
I only liked the movies.
OK KO its ugly as frick and I'm tired of people trying to gaslight me into thinking its not
Why does artstyles like ok ko and SU filter plebs so hard? Honest question
Theres the gaslighting.
do people actually cares about that show? I only see people cooming in the vampire milf
>I only see people cooming in the vampire milf
Or to her daughter, or the robot voiced by haruko, or the main character or his mom
Whos haruko?
From FLCL
I don't much care for Rescue Rangers. Old Animaniacs and Tiny Toons were more bad than good as well.
I found the Klasky Csupo Nicktoons and Football Head boring when compared to Rocko, Angry Beavers and CatDog
Hey Arnold and a lot of classic Nicktoons honestly. Shit like Hey Arnold, Catdog, Beavers, Rocko, Ren and Stimpy, all dull and painful.
Most shows I just don't care about. The only popular thing that really bothers me is Scooby Doo, because somehow it continues to endure far past its prime and despite the fact it's really no different than dozens of other generic HB shows.
it is fascinating how that one stuck around.
Oh i forgot to mention SB and tom and jerry. Hate both of them. Scooby doo is shit because the momsters arent even real most of the time and because its the same plot over and over again and i find tom and jerry to be annoying
Amphibia. I don't get the appeal at all. The frogs aren't charming enough for me to get invested in them and a majority of the show is focused on them.
Billy & Mandy.
Grim can be cool and funny pretty consistently, but everything else about the show was... ehhhh. I can't get into it.
I think at this point I genuinely hate Teenage robot. All of these years I tried multiple times but I can’t get into it at all. a lot of the characters outside of Jenny, her mom and Brad were either bland at best and aggravating at worst. I get that a story needs some antagonists, but goddamn was almost everyone a right c**t towards her just because. Even though they know good and well she could vaporize them within 5 milliseconds. What a lazy way to generate conflict. Great art style though.
for the opposite, I like Foster’s but any thread about immediately devolves into just Frankie/Goo/Eurotrish cheesecake or those two autists that flood with thread about the show being “strewn with misery porn” (that exact fricking phrase. Every time.) or the guy that thinks it’s Canadian and lazy because they don’t address…the sociopolitical implications of a world filled with children’s sapient thoughts? Sucks man.
MLAATR is shit. Utter shit. I used to watch it for the character designs but I was always repelled by how much I didn't like the show. However, it did make me feel that if Nick picked up Powerpuff Girls instead of CN, it would have brighter colors and it would suck.
>I like Foster’s but any thread about immediately devolves into just Frankie/Goo/Eurotrish cheesecake or those two autists that flood with thread about the show being “strewn with misery porn”
Gooners and schizos, that's a Cinemaphile thread for ya
Based. This might be the prime example of bad shows Cinemaphileomers put on a pedestal.
Really foster?
I don't like Hey Arnold because I was aware of the comic strip it was based on and that was way better than a cartoon that didn't need to be animated. They took a comic about imagination and turned it into slice of life. The best way I can describe Hey Arnold is take Doug, put it in the slums, and make it boring. You have to try to be more boring than Doug and Hey Arnold was up for that challenge.
If I had a nickel for everytime I'm on here and learn a cartoon was originally a comic strip, I'd have two nickels
Holy shit I can't stand it. I've tried multiple times but can't get into it. The voice acting especially sucks!
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Animaniacs. You just like the songs, stupid, the show itself was boring as frick.
Space King, The Ghost and Molly McGee, The Amazing Digital Circus, and Angel Hare.
>Usually popular and considered good by Cinemaphile
There's shows Cinemaphile actually like? I couldn't name a single one.
You haven't been here long enough then
I hate Korra so fricking much. Sozin should have wiped out the water tribes too, just to be safe.
Most. I come only to read the war comics, shit posting threads, Raven threads, and off topic meme meta threads.
I never understood this shit, even back when it was considered "good".
It looks obnoxious and it is obnoxious.
What is that even from?
Regular show, People in Cinemaphile have already talked about AT enough and how it became a shitshow, but alot of people in Cinemaphile have blindly praised RS when not seeing the glaring issues of this show has. Regular show to me is a one trick pony it doesn't try anything new it relies on its repeated formula too much same jokes and same premise of each ep with slight variation it gets jarring to say the least, and when the show tries something different it usually ends up way worse than the show's formulaic format the love drama arc and space dome arc are two very good examples of this.
Safe to say Regular show is just family guy for kids
venture bros
Genddy Wars.
Honestly, I'm kinda getting tired of Gendy's whole schtick. It just seems overindulgent.
My Life as a Teenage Robot
Die
Dexter's Lab.
>Phineas & Ferb.
Ever since I was a kid it annoyed the frick out of me. The characters and the overly repetitive nature just rubbed me the wrong way.
>Bluey
It's a fricking toddler show. I have no fricking clue what these grown ass adults see in it. I mean, it's a step above shit like Dora, but it's still boring as hell. The only thing i like about it is the porn
Almost everything after 2010
Kids Next Door
Hey Arnold
Adventure Time
Gravity Falls
Samurai Jack
Foster's Mansion...
I feel like the show is designed to make me anger and stressed... it's so infuriating.
Billy & Mandy
Too much toiler humor and Billy and Mandy are annoying in S3 onwards.
Digital Circus
The show gets hard carried by their designs.
