Deadlights are tiny portals to Pennywise's home dimension which mere mortals can't look upon without instantly going insane. The float thing doesn't mean anything King just thought it sounded creepy.

Why does this movie title have the font of an old fashioned 70s military stamp seal?

How does this related to the theme of IT?

  5. 2 weeks ago

What made Stephen King pick that font?

There were only 8 fonts on TV editing equipment back then, it was the best fit at the time. It used to take a week for computers to render special effects like this for a few seconds

Deadlights are It’s true form. People go mad from looking at them because it’s impossible for a human mind to understand and comprehend. So basically it’s some Lovecraftian-tier of horrror.

It’s a creature from the void from somewhere around the outside of our universe. It’s a trans dimensional entity.

The whole floating thing has been interpreted as a threat to Georgie since his dead body would float in the sewer but also as the ‘floating’ of the soul within It’s being after It essentially renders people catatonic from looking at the dead lights.

If this sounds completely fricking mad it’s because it is. There’s also a giant turtle that essentially vomited up our universe and that’s how we came to be, this turtle is in a constant battle with It.

King’s fricking weird, and you don’t just need an underage sewer orgy to tell you that. Man was doing ridiculous amounts of coke.

A aikido doesn't do it justice, I never read/learned more swear words and racist insults than in IT the book. It was crazy. I think it's actually more vulgar and racist than the internet, but only slightly.

Steven King loves racism, the Overlook itself calls Dick Hallorann a jungle bunny Black person in the book.

my dad loves Stephen King so that probably explains why he uses so many varied racist terms, I've never read any of Stephen King's books but thanks for shedding some light on why my dad says random shit like jiggaboo or spooks

Nta but king was a great writer in the sense of building dread and imparting a terror imo

Technically he writes like a middle schooler, but there are many scenes that made me nauseous or tear up

The scene where Mikey wakes up after researched in the library all night and sees a set of clown shaped footprints leading from the locked library door to his desk and there's a balloon tied to his wrist with a photograph of him with his eyes gouged out screaming in pain

Man if I ever get dread powers or a dread presence I'll certainly not be bereft of tactics.

The book has a lot of weird scenes. Like Bev coming upon the gang of bullies and they are being gay with each other. It's been a while since I read it in middle school.

It's one bully who starts jacking off another bully and then he suggests sucking him and the kid getting jerked wallops the guy for being too gay.
This same character traps a puppy in a fridge for over a week and gets hard when he prevents it escaping

IT is an eldritch cosmic horror or something. It can manifest on earth to varying extents/restrictions, to eat people.
In the book, they have to perform something called "The Ritual of Chud" to defeat IT.

Literally not something we can comprehend or articulate. The actual IT from IT is a being that exists outside of our realm of reality. To act within our world it has to mirror and mimic shit, shit it doesn't even really understand or comprehend. They look like lights to us because that's what our minds can accept and make sense of.

'IT' is an allegory for sex; as in doing it. As children they don't understand and are taught to be afraid of it, but then they have their gangbang sewer orgy and are no longer afraid.
So the movies skip the entire fricking point of the story.
Although the homosexual killing himself does fit.
