I should make a meme image so I don't have to repost the same shit every time we have this thread.
The answer that OP is looking for is that digital has lowered the entry barrier level, so more visually illiterate people has entered inside.
the tl;dr: >1 Digital cameras dont handle highlights well, so modern cinematographers tend to underexpose the image
>2 Colorists grade HDR images in perfectly dark enviroments, not normal SDR TVs in a living room
>3 Lack of talent; cinematographers and colorists dont understand how to create vivid images, they prefer flat images with shallow focus and use stupid empty phrases like "this lens has a great character" and "I love this creamy bookeh" to disguise their ignorance
>1 Digital cameras dont handle highlights well, so modern cinematographers tend to underexpose the image
It's not 2009 anymore, gramps. High end digital cinema cameras have more highlight latitude than color film stock. >2 Colorists grade HDR images in perfectly dark enviroments, not normal SDR TVs in a living room
I don't know why you single out HDR, because literally everything is graded in dark rooms, including SDR content, but yes, true. >3 Lack of talent; cinematographers and colorists dont understand how to create vivid images, they prefer flat images with shallow focus and use stupid empty phrases like "this lens has a great character" and "I love this creamy bookeh" to disguise their ignorance
True.
>1 Digital cameras dont handle highlights well, so modern cinematographers tend to underexpose the image
No. A common rule of digital shooting is 'exposing to the right', meaning that you should slightly overexpose in order to capture as much color data as possible. Highlights are only an issue nowadays if you're shooting on a phone or some small shitty mirrorless camera.
Images in normal conditions don't look dark because of underexposure in camera, but because hack color graders make them dark.
>2 Colorists grade HDR images in perfectly dark enviroments, not normal SDR TVs in a living room
HDR and SDR are both graded in the dark, because movies are meant to be watched in dark theaters. Pulling curtains over your windows at home shouldn't be that hard.
>3 Lack of talent; cinematographers and colorists dont understand how to create vivid images, they prefer flat images with shallow focus and use stupid empty phrases like "this lens has a great character" and "I love this creamy bookeh" to disguise their ignorance
About right.
They want you to focus on the diversity hire, not the actual scene.
Technically they are doing it right. You do not want to focus on dialog and actual writing for modern "movies".
i liked the movie, but its understandable its filtering a lot of people. it changes tone and scenery a lot and is very VERY long and if you dont get the comedy style, you wont laugh at it. its very absurdist, but thats why i liked it. and i guess oyu also have to be in the mood for it, you cant just put it on.
it really just felt like a movie for israeli guys with mommy issues. I'm neither of those things and frankly it's embarrassing to be a guy like that. just really pathetic
Black women with this look are insufferable. She's the black Tumblr leftist who doesn't have a good role to play in any films beyond "shoehorned black woman who you need to listen to"
complaining is easier. theres enough good new movies but there is also a ton of good old movies and tv shows and i'm pretty sure a single human cant watch all of it in a lifetime, so there is no excuse to be sad or bothered by modern Hollywood slop
For me its how smug they look, because they know they dont belong there and they know you know they dont belong there, but they have been trained to derive satisfaction from the fact they are annoying you, forgetting to actually act or entertain in the process. Its almost demonic
Social activists who got the job through diversity checkboxes have replaced the "EVIL" meritocracy where the best talent actually earned the fricking jobs.
This.
People with bullshit jobs are putting unqualified people into jobs where competence actually matters because they mistakenly believe all jobs are welfare with extra steps since theirs are.
Everyone is trying to ape Nolan or Marvel flicks
>ape
In my country we call them rape apes.
rapes
I think shallow depth-of-field looks trashy. I suspect it's done to hide bad background cgi/green screen.
>Someone doesn't like old kino
>I suspect it's done to hide bad background cgi/green screen.
Literally this, it's all done to mask stock footage in the background.
Timmy lupus' mother happened.

They knew how to stay hydrated unlike zoomers

The air conditioning is busted in the apartment the movie takes place in.
>Amerikeks start sweating profusely from just standing still if they don't have air conditioning
Humans sweat when the environment around them is hot. And the damn opening scene takes place in the middle of summer.
People just don't sweat like they used to in the old days.
The first frame is from the class The Odd Couple. The air-conditioner is busted in the first scene of the Odd Couple, you uncultured swine.

What utopia are you posting from?

Are they calling to try and get the air conditioning repaired?

How do you call this filming technique?
Looks like Freeside
The colours and white balance look decent, but god damn, the stabilization at the pan looks so artificial.
>the stabilization at the pan looks so artificial
It adds to the comedic effect.
Like a goddamn video game, frickin hell
'gger on the 'log

Did I miss something? Why am I supposed to like the top?
Presumably because you have functioning eyes and cognitive ability but that's a major logical leap here
Not an argument. Try again.
NTA but I'd say
proper white balance, deep focus and separation of foreground and background using light and not the bookahy
stop watching slop
Cinemaphile will always watch nothing but slop and keep complaining about everything being slop
complaining is easier. theres enough good new movies but there is also a ton of good old movies and tv shows and i'm pretty sure a single human cant watch all of it in a lifetime, so there is no excuse to be sad or bothered by modern Hollywood slop

Where?
Outside of Hollywood
Two entirely different scenes. Post a more similar example.
Why does the woman on the bottom look so annoying?
Because you are a white male with a fragile ego (like 99% of the users of this site).

Everything is shot on digital in front of green screens.
