we're starting to see the effects of people only going to see movies that they actually give a shit about. the rise of streaming having newer releases 2-3 months after they come out has removed a big reason to go see new movies in theaters. couple this with the covid years breaking people of going to see a movie as a timesink or as a secondary aspect of spending time with others and you have a recipe for utter dogshit movies getting the viewership they're supposed to

This. Normies are becoming more selective with the movies they spend their hard-earned money on in theaters because they're finally raising their standards.

Very true. Before the streaming era I would go to the movies once or twice a month with friends or family "just to see a movie". Could be anything really, just not one of the lesser choices. But nowadays I can count on one hand the amount of times I go to the theater in a given year. The movies you are sorta interested in will just be streaming in a few months anyways.

The marvel/Disney corporate machine + woke crap + WB being reactive pussies (as usual)

DW tho, marvel is imploding too under its own weight of cbm fatigue and ultimately DC will prevail because with the exception of Spiderman, to put it simply: the product is better. The characters are better. Give it 20-30 years and batman movies/metaverse experiences will still be getting made.

The Avengers' lack of popularity was actually a blessing in disguise because it's the only thing that kept their rights from being stuck with the old studios like Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four. Instead of having to wrangle with tard producers who were scared of crossovers or wanted to try and tone down some of the more comic-bookish elements they just did what they wanted, which was basically to faithfully adapt he source material.

DC, on the other hand, is stuck in the old studio system and is at the mercy of whatever idiot coke fiend is running the thing. And the traditional studios have always, always fricked up these IPs. Donner made one of the most successful films of all time with Superman and was fired before it even got released. Burton turned a dead property into a goldmine and got forced out after two movies anyway. John Peters wanted to make a superman movie where he doesn't fly. Tom Rothman wanted to kill off the X-Men after three movies because he...just didn't like it for some reason. Sony chased Raimi off Spider-Man then fricked up the reboot and had to beg Marvel to fix it.

Once the studios know a property is lucrative they get weird about it and start meddling and micromanaging and oversaturating, and they kill the golden goose every time. It already happened to the DCEU and it's happening to Star Wars as we speak, and it might be happening to the MCU pretty soon if they're not careful.

None of Marvel's shit worked besided Iron Man, Avengers and Dr. Strange. Everything else was mediocre crap but after Avengers exploded it became the "thing" and normies flocked in like they usually do. New Star Wars it utter trash but it still rakes in billions. Once you make your thing "the thing" it stays like that for a while.
DC movies are perceived as the copycat even though most of their characters existed decades before Marvel stuff.
Even the other Spider-Man stuff didn't compare to Avengers. Why? Do people not prefer Spider-Man to the boring lineup of the avengers? Ofc they do but it's just how it is with these things.
