I got (from left to right) Jake, Craig, Finn, K.O., Steven, Rigby, Mordecai, Tulip and possibly Greg from Over the Garden Wall. Anyone know the others?
You know, Courage has gathered a better reputation as a horror cartoon, but I never really lost any sleep watching it, I thought it was funny more than anything. But Flapjack just had this aura around it that put me on edge, I aways got this mixture of dread/sadness watching it. as a kid.
The show is pretty fricking ugly (in a good way). It's grimy, there's some edge to it, and it's not above pulling some horror shit out of nowhere like that fricking cat or that episode where Captain Knuckles has candy rot. It's also pretty quiet since the only ambient sounds you hear is the sea swaying and creaking wood.
The giant mermaid slowly, silently rotting away while doing nothing but staring into the distance is one of the eeriest visuals I've seen in a western cartoon.
The animation industry going insane and worshiping a sacred idol show for giving them jobs, even though creatively everything in Flapjack came from copying Ren and Stimpy in an ugly way with the usual other sources like watching a few anime.
But wowee, Alex Hirsch drew beanmouth first on it!
The love they believe in is a fake & gay definition of self-gratification. If they believed in love they would care about bigger things than their job histories.
Shit, I was just talking about this show with my friend at work because we're the only zoomers there. We all have a Anton Ego-esque fondness for this show and Chowder when it comes to CN series.
Flapjack, Chowder, and Over the Garden Wall are the only 2010s shows I remember liking through their entire run. Did Gumball turn out decent? I remember liking the first few seasons, but gave up on watching CN when they started endlessly spamming TTG.
Gumball is weird to me because I think it tanked in quality the longer it ran, but everyone seems to love it even with how reliant it became on silly faces and shitty analogies like it's a bootleg Zero Punctuation. It did have good episodes though.
That wasn't the reason and you know it.
CN had so little faith in Genndy at this time it was a joke itself. Anyone thinking it was "a toy issue" really didn't get the time CN was operating in.
They were giving Genndy the shaft quite a bit and he kept coming back. Until he made Hotel Transylvania and suddenly they realized how much they were fricking up. Ever wonder what made them change their minds on Samurai Jack and started to greenlight other stuff by him suddenly?
Someone should make a version starting from John K. I guess when I say someone, everyone's gonna say "you (me)" and I suppose you're right...
Or even one starting with Ralph Bakshi. Or perhaps the very first animators...
Doing it with animated feature directors starting from The Fox and the Hound is fun. The number of directors of 90s-2000s feature film directors who worked on that movie is kind of insane
Yeah, I know that, already. I mean, most of the garbage that came out is unvenerable shit! The obvious exception is Regular Show.
>The obvious exception is Regular Show
But Hilda is also there.
>The obvious exception is Regular Show.
Cause it's the only show that was actually created by a writer instead of another storyboard artist.
Lmao you're trying too hard. Cartoons without good animation are just radio shows with unappealing pictures
How does that change that they all came from Flapjack, you daft homosexual
I would say Fish Hooks played a much bigger role on Gravity Falls existing than Flapjack did.
>AT: birthed quantity
>GF: birthed quality
>RS: neither
Why is this?
It's too unique.
What did Chowder begat?
Chowder is part of the Rocko’s Modern Life dynasty.
Rocko’s Modern Life -> Spongebob -> Chowder
I thought it was all traced back to two stupid dogs.
posting the advanced version
Will always love how the horse show is something it can't be named properly, the damage it has done to this place will never be healed
It’s Kick Buttowski first, then The Loud House.
>2 Stupid Dogs brought us My Life as a Teenage Robot
I don't know how to feel about this.
It seems like someone is biased against the Owl House as it's the only one without a proper title card excluding the "Untitled F&F series."
I got (from left to right) Jake, Craig, Finn, K.O., Steven, Rigby, Mordecai, Tulip and possibly Greg from Over the Garden Wall. Anyone know the others?
The one under Craig is Hilda.
The little paw next to the red hand is Puppycat

>"you drink the drinks"
>"you go to sleep"
>"and then... surgery"
yeah i did not fricking enjoy that as a child
This scene in particular creeped me out as a kid, but now I just find it hilarious. Gives me Tattletale Strangler vibes.
The giant mermaid slowly, silently rotting away while doing nothing but staring into the distance is one of the eeriest visuals I've seen in a western cartoon.
I remember that one closeup shot of the grey cat with empty eye sockets and a circle of teeth unnerved me.
Remember when Flapjack literally centered an episode around the Bubonic Plague?
The animation industry going insane and worshiping a sacred idol show for giving them jobs, even though creatively everything in Flapjack came from copying Ren and Stimpy in an ugly way with the usual other sources like watching a few anime.

guy you need to learn that love wins
The love they believe in is a fake & gay definition of self-gratification. If they believed in love they would care about bigger things than their job histories.
guy do you not believe in the power of love winning? wasn't it john k loving all those girls that allowed ren and stimpy to win?
you've failed to follow the lesson of your idol, until you do you're fricked into the cycle of letting dogshit media perpetuate
Flapjack was great.
Shawn Michaels = Flapjack
Bret Hart = Chowder
If you know, you know.
Who's Triple H?
Steven Universe
>goes on to take over the network and ruin shit forever
Makes sense
>Flapjack's successor ruined the industry
>Chowder's successor were underrated classics
based
Flapjack was the real Janetty
Shit, I was just talking about this show with my friend at work because we're the only zoomers there. We all have a Anton Ego-esque fondness for this show and Chowder when it comes to CN series.
I swear the industry needs fresh blood not stale ass flapjack refugees
>hands are so samey you can't even tell them apart

It had some amazing satire and was very dynamic/seamless with it's animation/artstyle
One of the last good shows cartoon network did before the great cancellation of 2009
I'll never forget them canning SBT because of the toy license.
That wasn't the reason and you know it.
CN had so little faith in Genndy at this time it was a joke itself. Anyone thinking it was "a toy issue" really didn't get the time CN was operating in.

Wasnt because of its merch? It was a pain to advertise, produce and sell
Would you go back in time to kill Hitler or to kill Flapjack?

Then hearing Teen Titans and Ren & Stimpy are somewhat related might be tough.
Is Flapjack anon
