Correct, he was writer and actor baby sitter. I guarantee you he had 0 creative input into any scene involving the slightest bit of action choreography.
I thought it was the other way around, sounds like they hired a new guy because the old guy wanted to not be on set as much but still basically be directing the movie
The suits being specifically tailored to Tony's and Rhodey's bodies being able to fit on multiple other people throughout the movie. This was before he had the one-size-fits-all nanotech. It breaks my suspension of disbelief every time I see them swap armors.
No this was definitely the worst one I’ve watched so far. And also the last Marvel movie I’ve rewatched, nothing but stuff I’ve never seen from here. How bad is Thor the Dark World?
I’m a little over an hour in and I’ve been watching this for 3 hours. I have to pause and browse Cinemaphile for like 10 minutes at a time every 5 minutes because of how fricking boring these movies are getting
Is that the 2nd Thor movie? If so I would say that's contender for worst. I just remember being bored the entire time. I also hate when these movies have to force debuffs on heroes like that movie had that fight scene where he constantly was being teleported around so his hammer could never return to him
nta but >cool spaceship scenes >more selvig kino >thor and loki being comic accurate for once >their mom dies which is a big turning point for both thor and lokis character development >idris elba does some cool shit >funniest ending to the end fight of any mcu movie
I really don’t understand why people hate it so much, I was genuinely confused when I first heard people talking about it online
>comic accurate thor and loki
that's not a good thing, comic books have dogshit writing and consequently so does the movie
awful, pointless villain
boring ass plot
shitty overuse of cgi
support characters underused and underwritten
final fight had some funny moments, but the actual fight aspect of it fricking sucked
Dark World is the same as the other Thor movies: They took something really cool in the comics and remove everything cool. Literally all 4 movies miss the mark. Only the first one almost hit it.
Honestly haven't seen it since it was in theaters, but I remember being incredibly disappointed because of the hype. I have zero desire to see it again. Mickey hated it too.

>worst movies ever made >Honestly haven't seen it since it was in theaters, but I remember being incredibly disappointed
I didn't like the Barrel of Monkeys scene. Once it's revealed he was remote controlling the suit, all of the peril is gone. You care about Tony making the save, not whether the random people survive or not. Him not physically doing it made it feel cheap.
To be fair it wasn’t revealed until after the people have been rescued anyway, so it really only affects rewatches. This was my third time watching Iron Man 3 and I didn’t remember it because these movies don’t feel made to be remembered.
I feel like this movie was the tipping point in the MCU where comedy became a higher priority than action.
Also they were scared to use the real Mandarin thinking that people would call it racist.
A major sub plot of the movie is that his prototype armor doesn’t work properly and he can’t really trust it and in the end when he needs it the most it ends up saving him
It’s kino, the stupid flying armor pieces are kino. Frick you.
That scene where the moron prototype armor is flying at him like a moron saying "i'm coming papa" then crashing was kino. My only issue with the armor swarm scene was how easily they were being destroyed.

If this movie had 90% of it in that snowy Tennessee small town with Stark and that kid repelling those extremis monsters with tricks and traps like a marvel version of home alone it would have been a lot better and a holiday classic
>Pepper saving the day was lame. Gwyneth Paltrow was not believable in the slightest to be capable of combat or even saving Tony.
How did they explain away her losing those powers? I remember they did it so in a minor wishy washy way but I forgot how.

In the last 30 seconds of the movie Tony gives a voiceover where he says they cured Pepper and removed his chest shrapnel/magnet.
I didn’t even remember that and I watched the movie a few hours ago. It’s such a throwaway line lol
m8 they're film adaptions of children's picture books. not even children's books with just text, children's books for children who lack the ability to imagine the stories in their heads as they read.
you as an adult are trying to apply an anti-feminist critique to what amounts to aesop's fables for kids that have a low reading ability. sort your life out.
she's always been a detriment to tony's character in all the movies. you're just there waiting for her scene to be over so we can get back to something else. i can't tell you what her personality even is and i've seen all the movies.

Far From Home has weird underlying tones about puberty that turned me off. Like his spider sense was basically a stand it for a kid discovering masturbation and coming to terms with it.
Spider-Man has always been about a teenage boy discovering one day that he can now shoot sticky white fluid out of his body and that he has to be responsible with it
Gyllenhaal is easily the best part of FFH.
Honestly, the MCU Spider-Man films have a lot of flaws and general issues, but they've knocked it out of the park with the villains every time. Keaton and Dafoe are also both brilliant in the other two movies

The movie is watchable (I took my parents out to see it since they like Iron Man (well, more like they like Downey but whatever) and it was alright)
Iron man 3 is the Rocky V of Marvel movies. The whole PTSD things come out of nowhere and never gets mentioned ever again just like Rocky's brain trauma.
Also that movie was made when they were balls deep into pander to the chinese mode and even made chinese only scenes that blatantly advertise chinese milk and for that reason alone I despise it
Oh right, that was a thing. I vaguely recall getting to the end credits and seeing one or a bunch of chinese names and thinking, don't recall seeing those in the movie. Pathetic.
IM3 is pure Shane Black kino. The only people who dislike it are fricking nerds who got assblasted over the Mandarin being different from the established character.
Del Toro doesn’t come back I’m assuming? That was the part that surprised me
Nice rig bro. Mirin the diagnostic LED indicator on the motherboard, new gen ones don't have it anymore except on the overkill boards which makes me seethe to no end.
Thanks I went overkill on everything for this pc lol
I haven't watched this in over a decade but didn't he destroy all the suits to signify that he gave up being Iron Man or at least wise up and stop stressing Pepper out? What was the point of all that when he immediately goes back to his normal self in the next film until Endgame?
Yeah I also asked “why” out loud when he told Jarvis to wipe out all the other suits at the end. That had to have been a ton of money up in smoke even if Stark is rich
>What was the point of all that when he immediately goes back to his normal self in the next film until Endgame?
real answer is because at this point this was RDJs last contracted movie and there was a real chance he wouldn't continue so they gave him a happy ending just in case and had the shrapnel in his heart removed
Endgame just feels like a half-hearted clipshow instead of the grand finale. 2/3 of the plot is spent revisiting plots and locations from older movies with new stuff added in, and the last bit has the same problem that Infinity War has, in that the main characters all get a shot at Thanos, while everyone else has to deal with an army of fodder mooks.
Don’t forget that it’s not even the same Thanos as in infinity war that has gone through some serious character development, no this Thanos is the wienery prick from the small scenes in the original Guardians of the Galaxy who has never even met any of the main characters at this point

Thanos came back in time to them. He started it. At the final battle at least. But the story concept is still thematically lame because alt-Thanos has no personal history with them
It completely replaced the cool antagonist from the previous movie with a version that's worse in every way so the whole climax just feels rushed.
I think that'd be moronic if any movie did that.
endgame is pure kino, especially the pseudo apocalyptic parts. its the only movie where i actually give a shit about the stakes of the magic crystal macguffin and most of the characters. hawkeye was so moronic though. and i always thought war machine and falcon were just soaking up screen time in an already crowded cast.
Good for capeshit. Bear in mind, pretty much all the big things it has going for it happened because capeshit did what capeshit does and almost none of it ends up mattering outside of this 1 movie.
Infinity War should be considered as the tipping point for the MCU.
Basically all the stories told throughout 10 years of movies are nicely tied up and finished in infinity war, then endgame comes and makes a million loose ends.
I personally think that marvel would have been way better off with making “phase 4” happen after infinity war with half the population of the universe gone and then after 5 years or longer of movies then releasing endgame to open up more possibilities with their storytelling.
Now everything is fricked and it’s pretty clear that marvel/disney has no idea where to go next with any of their characters or stories and thats why all their movies are flopping hard because nobody wants to invest time and effort into something that they can already tell won’t go anywhere
I thought they could have given the Extremis goons a little more focus. They seemed like mostly sympathetic figures who got conned by the main villain promising a miracle treatment for their disabilities. That was a neat angle but never really went anywhere.
Having those same sympathetic wounded veteran characters killing civilians as the inciting actions for the plot made the movie feel like it was multiple scripts mashed together.
I actually liked Iron Man 3, considerably more than 2. We got to see lots of cool suits by the end, and Tony got to do some cool work outside of the suit as well. I would have liked more time with him in the armor but the final fight was worth it. Only thing I didn't like was the forced Pepper shit but otherwise it was cool.
Also would have liked if it made use of Extremis as in the comics and he had to get the upgrade himself and combine it with an armor, but nevertheless it was pretty fun as far as Marvel flicks go and it's in the top half of MCU films imo
The trailer is a whole different universe from the movie. IM3 is one of my most hated movies of all time. It probably sits at #4 Behind TLJ at #1 X3 at #2 and Blade 3 at #3.
This all started because I just wanted to see the new Spider-Man movies but felt like I’d appreciate them more if I understood other characters in the MCU. How did Doc Oc rip this door off without anyone hearing it before he throws it?
I am completely disinterested in any Marvel movie that isn't Fantastic Four or Avengers. I skipped two of the last four in theaters. Pretty sure I'll be skipping a lot more for the foreseeable future
It's not about liking them as much as it is getting to see what they do with it good or bad. The concept of where they go with it is interesting to me. There is nothing else on the horizon even REMOTELY interesting coming from Marvel outside of Avengers Secret Wars or Dr. Doom. ...Like the Thunderbolts concept sounded really interesting on paper but even that sounds like it's turning out to be another secret invasion level dumpster fire. Because Secret Invasion sounded cool, on paper. But Young Avengers?? lmao nope. Falcon America? lmao nope...
the MCU has nothing except FF and Avengers. I will be skipping the rest.
>Like the Thunderbolts concept sounded really interesting on paper but even that sounds like it's turning out to be another secret invasion level dumpster fire.
It's worse than that. There is a chance it will tonally be like the suicide squad
I haven’t seen enough of the films yet to know if you’re right or wrong, but I believe it. I’ve never seen anyone talk about these movies(besides Spider-Man maybe) after Endgame.
went to theater to see this piece of shit movie, wanted to see Iron Man kick some ass but i got a movie explaning he does not need the suit to be Iron Man
Same. Honestly I think nearly all other flaws in Iron Man 3 would be forgiven if they had gone full ISIS with Mandarin. I don't even remember who the real bad guy was or his motivations (Tony stood him up or some bs I guess).
IM3 is pure Shane Black kino. The only people who dislike it are fricking nerds who got assblasted over the Mandarin being different from the established character.
IM3 is dog shit. Completely insincere movie. If he was too embarrassed to make it he shouldn't have taken the job.
>Lets replace this kino villain with somebody 100x more lame and boring! Audiences will love it! They're morons that will scarf down anything we shit out..Also did the check clear yet?
It was the first attempt at an older male character and a child sidekick by disney in the modern era. Followed then by Mando and Baby Yoda, and Obiwan and Leia.
There was a moment in Iron Man 3, where Tony is having a anxiety attack remembering he almost died in The Avengers. It's a good piece of character work for a moment.
Then it's immediately ruined by the fact that he TWIRLS AROUND and starts quipping at a small child about something.
That's when I knew Marvel was going to be a Joss Whedon style quipfest and I walked out hating the movie. The only other movie I've seen in the MCU was Captain America & The Winter Soldier, which was pretty good.
I don't remember a ton about this flick but I do remember the villains felt like a total afterthought. Generic super-serum shit with a completely uninspired aesthetic.
Villain sucked, the Mandarin fake out sucked, Pepper getting super powers was moronic beyond belief. IM2 was better. Seriously think only reason people like it is the 5 minutes with the kid and explosions.
the first Iron Man 1 script was disastrous, just like this second movie, but the good editors at Marvel helped Favreau improve the script, after that Feige never allowed editors to give an opinion and no writer could even consult the comics, I don't know how it took 10 years for people to see how these MCU movies are garbage
other than IM1, the critical concensus was that they sucked until the avengers came out, and even then, there was a lot of negativity around phase 2 (thor 2, IM3, avengers 2). it was only in phase 3 that most people started to be positive about it when stuff like civil war, guardians 2, ragnarok, black panther and infinity war were coming out.
the irony is, immediately after this time was when the roles reversed. at first, online dorks liked the movies and normies/media hated them, then after phase 3 that totally flipped on its head
Phase 3 is when Disney had accumulated nearly infinite cash to pay off reviewers. Now that the money has run out, the reviews have gone sour again.
The movies were always slop.
I’m still at it, had to pause and look up where the frick I knew this guy from and after looking at every movie and show he’s been in I still don’t know where I know him from because I haven’t seen any of the ones listed
yeah man, as a fan of wilderpeople and wwdits i was expecting it to be a lot smarter and funnier than it ended up. the bar for marvel movies is in the toilet tho i suppose
I bet those gays at Marvel are kicking themselves for letting Wahtitty waste the Planet Hulk storyline. Could have had a kino setup for a new phase where Hulk is the next bad guy.
Just finished Winter Soldier. That was the best one I’ve seen today at least. Or technically it’s tomorrow but anyway I liked it a lot better than Iron Man 3 or Dark World. GotG is up next
Fricking pedo
Nada
Every marvel film besides Iron Man 1 is directed by a faceless board of corporate dorks, not a film director.
Iron Man 3 was directed by Shane Black. It even has his signature buddy cop elements
Correct, he was writer and actor baby sitter. I guarantee you he had 0 creative input into any scene involving the slightest bit of action choreography.
lol
Lmao even
so Favreau got creatively cucked by Black?
I thought it was the other way around, sounds like they hired a new guy because the old guy wanted to not be on set as much but still basically be directing the movie
>tepid press fluff
quite the slam dunk, fella
You dumbass
Shane Black is a hack.
And Christmas setting.
I am The Mandarin
The suits being specifically tailored to Tony's and Rhodey's bodies being able to fit on multiple other people throughout the movie. This was before he had the one-size-fits-all nanotech. It breaks my suspension of disbelief every time I see them swap armors.
Nothing? It's better than Iron Man 2.
No this was definitely the worst one I’ve watched so far. And also the last Marvel movie I’ve rewatched, nothing but stuff I’ve never seen from here. How bad is Thor the Dark World?
it's bottom tier MCU but Ragnarok and GotG is top tier so have fun

IM2 is one of the worst movies ever made. I say that as a fan of RDJ and Mickey Rourke.
Why didn’t you like it? I didn’t like the plot about him getting sick
Honestly haven't seen it since it was in theaters, but I remember being incredibly disappointed because of the hype. I have zero desire to see it again. Mickey hated it too.

>Honestly haven't seen it since it was in theaters, but I remember being incredibly disappointed
you reason like a woman
Sam Rockwell saved it
only good part of this movie
how did they manage to make the cgi look so much worse than the first one?
Iron Man was a passion project. Iron Man 2 was a studio mandate. Nobody really gave a shit about trying.
>Avengers Assemble
Why do companies think they can rebrand stuff?
In corrupt and failing institutions being able to point at something and say “I did that” is more important than actually doing something worthwhile.
The Avengers movie was known as that in some territories.
I didn't like the Barrel of Monkeys scene. Once it's revealed he was remote controlling the suit, all of the peril is gone. You care about Tony making the save, not whether the random people survive or not. Him not physically doing it made it feel cheap.

they're wearing magic suits. it isn't hard sci-fi.

By capeshit standards a decade later, pretty much nothing went wrong.
It's insane how the genre has crashed and burned
I’m not even close to Spider-Man Far From Home yet but just curious, how’s Jake Gyllenhal as Mysterio? That’s one guy I thought I’d never see in capeshit
He's the best part of that movie. Really charismatic.

he shows up in one of the avengers movies again and dies
Yes and no, in Infinity War.

I'd say it was, yeah. Culmination of their project and a really fun spectacle. They did not need to make a part 2.
Do people just hate part 2 because it brings all the people back to life?
Endgame just feels like a half-hearted clipshow instead of the grand finale. 2/3 of the plot is spent revisiting plots and locations from older movies with new stuff added in, and the last bit has the same problem that Infinity War has, in that the main characters all get a shot at Thanos, while everyone else has to deal with an army of fodder mooks.

It was fricking stupid to do Extremis and not have tony get the virus.
Nothing, it's the best mcu movie with the best Tony and the best Iron man stuff in the franchise
The best Tony is an PTSD riddled mess?
>character doesn’t have a character arc
/tv/s reaction: >:(
>character has a good character arc
/tv/s reaction: >:(
>good
Did I stutter?
I actually liked Iron Man 3, considerably more than 2. We got to see lots of cool suits by the end, and Tony got to do some cool work outside of the suit as well. I would have liked more time with him in the armor but the final fight was worth it. Only thing I didn't like was the forced Pepper shit but otherwise it was cool.
Also would have liked if it made use of Extremis as in the comics and he had to get the upgrade himself and combine it with an armor, but nevertheless it was pretty fun as far as Marvel flicks go and it's in the top half of MCU films imo
>Directed by a hack that hates comics
Gee I wonder why it sucked.
The IM3 trailer is probably the greatest movie trailer of all time though. Talk about a bait and switch.
Just watched the trailer after having watched the actual movie earlier today. I agree the trailer is much more kino
>Much more
The trailer is a whole different universe from the movie. IM3 is one of my most hated movies of all time. It probably sits at #4 Behind TLJ at #1 X3 at #2 and Blade 3 at #3.
I liked the scene where Tony gets on camera and threatens "good old fashioned revenge".
they completely fricked up the Mandarin
This all started because I just wanted to see the new Spider-Man movies but felt like I’d appreciate them more if I understood other characters in the MCU. How did Doc Oc rip this door off without anyone hearing it before he throws it?
I am completely disinterested in any Marvel movie that isn't Fantastic Four or Avengers. I skipped two of the last four in theaters. Pretty sure I'll be skipping a lot more for the foreseeable future
What do you like so much about Fantastic Four? I never see anyone talk about them.
I’ve never seen anyone talk about these movies(besides Spider-Man maybe) after Endgame.
went to theater to see this piece of shit movie, wanted to see Iron Man kick some ass but i got a movie explaning he does not need the suit to be Iron Man
>What the frick went wrong?
FOR YOU
the villain was great
I am still mad. Mandarin Bin Laden was shaping up to be a GOAT, but no, we instead got quips and Syndrome from the Incredibles...
Same. Honestly I think nearly all other flaws in Iron Man 3 would be forgiven if they had gone full ISIS with Mandarin. I don't even remember who the real bad guy was or his motivations (Tony stood him up or some bs I guess).
YOUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLL NEVEEEEEERRRRRRRR SSSSSSEEEEEEE MMMMEEEEEEE COOOOOMMMMMMIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
>What the frick went wrong?
It tried to subvert our expectations and it ended with le women are stronk trope.
I seriously don't get what people like about 3 over 2. I'm guessing just a bunch of dbz hispanics clapping at all the explosions.
I liked it
The Nice Guys was alright but had too much peepeepoopoo "teehee I say penis a lot" jokes
Is Kiss Kiss Bang Bang good
>Is Kiss Kiss Bang Bang good
Yes, it kicked off the RDJ renaissance. Everything Shane Black touched was gold until the 2018 Predator movie.
Nothing: it wasn't as good as 1 or 2 but was still watchable and entertaining.
the first Iron Man 1 script was disastrous, just like this second movie, but the good editors at Marvel helped Favreau improve the script, after that Feige never allowed editors to give an opinion and no writer could even consult the comics, I don't know how it took 10 years for people to see how these MCU movies are garbage
They wrote Iron Man 1 in a cave, with a box of scraps.
other than IM1, the critical concensus was that they sucked until the avengers came out, and even then, there was a lot of negativity around phase 2 (thor 2, IM3, avengers 2). it was only in phase 3 that most people started to be positive about it when stuff like civil war, guardians 2, ragnarok, black panther and infinity war were coming out.
the irony is, immediately after this time was when the roles reversed. at first, online dorks liked the movies and normies/media hated them, then after phase 3 that totally flipped on its head
Phase 3 is when Disney had accumulated nearly infinite cash to pay off reviewers. Now that the money has run out, the reviews have gone sour again.
The movies were always slop.
i'm not saying they weren't all always slop, they totally were. i just mean what people were generally saying about them att
I know, I was just stating a fact.
I am no (iron) man!
lol this b***h thought a dude was trying to rape her on a public ski course just because he bumped into her. I don’t take anything she says serious
this was the beginnin of the end, when marvel just started plopping out cheap quick trash
Jesus I'm still mad they fricked the movie so hard
how are those LED lights not distracting you from watching a movie.... oh wait, youre watching MCUslop. never mind.
I’m still at it, had to pause and look up where the frick I knew this guy from and after looking at every movie and show he’s been in I still don’t know where I know him from because I haven’t seen any of the ones listed
are you underground?
oh shit he's in that one key and peele funk parody song i think
Destroying the suits was the single most fricking moronic ass thing in the entirety of the MCU.
I can't believe there are people that actually think Ragnarok was good.
yeah man, as a fan of wilderpeople and wwdits i was expecting it to be a lot smarter and funnier than it ended up. the bar for marvel movies is in the toilet tho i suppose
I bet those gays at Marvel are kicking themselves for letting Wahtitty waste the Planet Hulk storyline. Could have had a kino setup for a new phase where Hulk is the next bad guy.
I have never watched Iron Man 1 - 3.
How do they compare to the Captain America movies? (First Avenger, Winter Soldier)
IM 1 is better than CA 1, possibly the best MCU movie.
CA 2 and 3 and better than IM 2 and 3.
Just finished Winter Soldier. That was the best one I’ve seen today at least. Or technically it’s tomorrow but anyway I liked it a lot better than Iron Man 3 or Dark World. GotG is up next
