A lot of the VAs for the original are dead or are doing much bigger things. The chances of the reboot happening after John Witherspoon dead were basically 0%.
McGrudder was slow going and then we lost Charlie Murphy, then we lost John Witherspoon, then we lost Ed asner and then Regina king lost her kid. Pretty much it lost steam the moment it was announced and mcgrudders inability to hire a writers room put the thing in the grave for good

He just chose not to it seemed, he had one writer from a job sitcom as an editor for him in the first three seasons then that guy took over for the fourth season. I think McGrudder just wanted to handle the bulk of the writing on his own, which I understand but I feel that he could’ve add boondocks into the black simpsons as being a sort of tastemake for new black writers. But I don’t think that’s a position he ever wanted
Look at season 4. The second he stepped back a little to work on Black Jesus the writer's room took that as a go ahead to do Breaking Bad parodies and re-enslave the Freemans.
The breaking bad parody wasn’t any more egregious than his Halloween parody. It was topical was he wrote it two years before the season came out, I just think if he tried to cultivate a writers room boondocks would’ve never ended
The halloween parody is funnier when you find out that kid was based on a real-life kid, the news story is almost word for word.
