>be me as a hs freshman in 2007
>go to theater with friend and have no idea what we should watch
>pick this because the poster looks like a haunted house movie
>wind up with stephen king absolute scifi kino
>never even seen a trailer for it so it was all new
>that ending. literally laughed in disbelief that this ended that way and they had balls to do this
>african woman wailing music
was a better time
Does this look like an african woman to you anon?
in the way that eminem does black music anon
idk if she was black
despair porn. I liked it
>Another zoomer filtered
Many such cases
Stiff drink kino.
Why didn't they wait a couple of hours? is what everyone would do.
They'd rather die than pee in the car.
you can carefully sneak out your pee out of the door
If you actually watched the movie they more or less give you an idea as to why they didn't wait
Cause they heard shit in the distance and saw that massive creature pass by. Also cause they saw all the horrifying ways the creatures kill you and didn't want to take chances. Realistically that many people probably wouldn't decide that quickly but in the movie it works really well.
I can see why people like it but I never liked how the military shows up and everything is all well again. Would have preferred seeing the mist keep going with no hint of ending and a bunch of creatures.
I get what you mean but as far as those last five minutes go having everything suddenly return to normal is a great visual to stab you in the heart with
Agreed. I still think its a bleaker ending with a never ending all enveloping mist that has spread beyond the military's control. Don't forget we see that same woman that left the market with her kids in the military truck. Maybe have the military come up behind them with nothing but the mist in front? Who knows, still a solid movie with a good ending.
>Films theme about not giving up
>Main character vows to not give up
>Main character gives up
>He made a big mistake
Its kino and sticks to a message that filters npcs.
Never lose hope. THAT is what will kill you.
>I want a le hopeless and nihilistic Reddit ending.
The book ends with the dad driving into the mist with his son, on a more uncertain note.
king's despair
aka premium dishonest storytelling
Maybe, but it's memorable and the rest of the film is pretty competent. It's not a masterpiece but it at least stands out. If every movie tried shit like this with their endings it would get old extremely fast.
steven king had nothing to do with it
Fricking kek, really?
of course, those other dimensional monters weren't using proper pronouns
lmao I just watched this with my wife and she was pissed at the ending lol. I knew it was gonna happen from memes and all that but she was genuinely surprised lol she was so mad
Got the opposite reaction, watched the movie with my fiance and she was angry about the ending but also loved it
we have a baby so she was just sad about the mc's little boy
The fact it upset your wife means it worked.
I though it was dumb. They survived so much already and then they decide to kill themselves
I really wish Darabont would have adapted From a Buick 8. It's a small scale personal story and it would have worked well with his style. He seems to be semi retired though and I doubt a story that shows cops in a sympathetic light would get greenlit in today's political hellscape.
>Be American
>Get shot by your dad because they ran out of fuel
The womans prophecy came true. The boy and the woman had to die in order for the mist to pass
Broken clock and all that
She was right for the majority of the runtime. Even though she was nuts, she was proven right to the point that it ended with the majority siding with her.
>I should have posted on Cinemaphile more
In the original novel this doesn't happen and instead it ends with him continue driving looking for help, but Stephen King stated he approved of this ending anyway
It's called "kino"
Remember when yms said he thought this movie was lame until he saw it in black & white "just like the director intended"
>Taking any of the dog-rapist’s opinions at face value
Uhhh its like a 6 or something I dunno, I gotta sell shirts with 6/10 on them
His worst mistake was splitting up with Mark, he was the only enjoyable friend he's ever worked with.
>Watching “Reddit the Reviewer” ever
Ngmi
The let's plays were fine because he's so cynical, and Mark bounced off him nicely. Then he became a big b***h and unlisted all the videos they did together, i.e. the only good videos he did.
>what the hell was that ending?
Stephen King when he was no longer doing coke
>tfw I would've shot myself in the head 6 times instead of shooting the others
This movie makes me laugh, it shows the essence of American sensitivity, fragility and stupidity.
They're in a supermarket with literally enough food for weeks and within one day it all goes to shit.
>tribalism begins
>people literally just walk out into the Mist
>"we need gunz lol"
>people start believing the religious fanatic
> one woman literally kills herself the first night
>hurr we want to see other dimensions durr!
>the fricked up pharmacy operation which should have been easy
>c**t sets himself on fire then nearly burns the store down
The list goes on and on. Good film for its comedic value though, that is Americans being the most ridiculous nation on Earth lol
Same feeling I had watching it.
>In store with infinity food
>Run outside
i don't know why but this movie and the war of the worlds 2005 are such a specific kind of kino that makes me feel a certain way
maybe it's just because it's 2000's smart white new england dad kino or something. that and i watched them as a kid (i'm 22)
