No the simpsons has a hard rule where at least one family member has to be included to a certain percent in every single storyline. It kills some episodes that would make the show a million times better. Like the recent episode all about Carl finding himself but Homer gets inserted throughout. They really should just title the show Springfield and let us spend time with other characters for a full episode. To get everyone ready for when a main VA croaks.
There are plenty of VAs out there that can impersonate any Simpsons character nearly 1:1. The Simpsons is too big for them to retire a character if one of them dies.
>let us spend time with other characters for a full episode. To get everyone ready for when a main VA croaks.
Why would you assume they'd be reluctant to feature a main character just because their voice is different/sucks when Bart and particularly Marge are already unrecognizably bad. i was expecting a joke about clown cars, with like 15 of them coming out of the wreckage, but nope. we don't even see him get up, or later in the background with a cast on a wheelchair
?
you literally see him get up when they start pulling the plane away and he makes a honking noise in protest
My guy, you realize that when your little zoomer brain was still surrounded by your soft infant skull, there were entire series uploaded to youtube by complete randos. Fanservice anime, mainstream tv shows, cartoons, whatever. It stayed up for years, not "a day", and if some wierdo came in bemoaning this as a negative thing they would've been laughed out of the room. Shut the frick up.
I was more bemoaning the fact you can get your entire channel copyright struck for five seconds of copyrighting audio where other people are just able to upload entire fricking family guy episodes with zero issue because youtube's automated copyright enforcement is a steaming pile of dogshit, but assert that oldgay dominance in anyway you can it makes you look really cool
You're a moron who's trying too hard to fit in. Since then Youtube has really tightened up it's security and gotten copyright strike happy, both for anime and western cartoons, so it's always noteworthy if a full episode survives for an extended period of time, especially one that has been shared publicly. If you're going to pretend to be some oldgay please be less embarrassing next time.
He was very fricking clearly not going "ooh that's notable, how interesting" so how about you shut the frick up too and quit wasting my time making up shit you want his post to be about?
Didn't watch the whole thing.
Just fastforwarded to a random point in the episode and sat in for 5 seconds: >HEY. WHERE'S MY BABY? >You... really want to know? >AAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUGH
Okay. That's pretty good. Still not going to sit through the rest but that's great.
The nonstop noise is intended to grab attention spans of hyperactive gen alpha that have been fricked thanks to smartphones and tablets.
I wonder when Spongebob will eventually lose relevance. Apparently ratings for the show have been under great decline.
>Apparently ratings for the show have been under great decline.
That's less of a Spongebob issue and more of a cable issue. Spongebob is still Nick's best performing show. Hence all the spin-offs they're making of it.
Spongebob really doesn't have to worry about ratings it has name recognition , merchandising and power, it's their Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny. It's making money.
I liked it and I like that there using more of the original cast instead of introducing more secondary characters, but it still needs some work regarding pacing issues and the music
>It was actually a good episode. I was laughing throughout >alright, that was funny >Hey this was pretty good >That was actually pretty funny >It's really not bad at all. >I smiled >Alright I've had my kek >Even as someone who doesn't like the modern stuff, this was pretty funny. >That's pretty good. >Wow there were actually a lot of good jokes in there. >Kek >I liked it >kek >everyone who hates nu-sponge because it "sucks" just hated it for the sole reason of it being new >Maybe kids still have it good these days.
I'm too old for this site.
As others said, music & sound effects are awful, that the pacing is awful and that this seems to be other cartoons wearing Spongebob's face. Jokes are shit. My only smile was because the puppet incidentally reminded me of Batman's Scarface.
This is why no-one respects cartoon artists. This is just a blinky light show for babies.
Zombie simpsons is unironically better than zombie spongebob. I have never seen a show fall from grace so hard and so fast.

10-now is the best the shows been since season 4s first half first 3 seaosns were lightning in a bottle we'll never have back but for a show thats been running for 25 years its doing far better then Simpsons, Family Guy or even South Park
>the excessive animation in this episode
I get that attention spans are lower compared to 20 years ago, but christ is the pacing bad. They need to focus more on the script.
It's obnoxiously loud and frantically paced but alot better than I expected, doesn't feel like Spongebob but still better than anything they did post season 4. The baby getting blown out the window made me kek. Music choice was odd at times but felt like a nice addition, appropriate for the kind of show it's now become
I haven't watched any new episodes in years. It's better than the trash I remember that relied on shock/disgust horror and intentionally meanspirited mischaracterization. But it's still bad. I didn't laugh once, and the episode felt like it was trying to give the viewer a headache with all of the constant noise from irritating sound effects and music.
It would have been a much better episode and a better PTA parody if Bubble Bass and Squidward had some kind of heartfelt moment at the end or found some common ground to get along with each other a bit. Instead it just ends with them both suffering and happily insulting each other. And why is every single background fish character now a dumb butthole that only exists to inconvenience the main cast?
Decent episode. The writers shouldve made Squidward go to an art museum though. couldve done a lot of jokes about comic books versus classical art.
If you imagine some overworked, underpaid storyboard artist rushing this shit out the door to meet deadlines, the lack of cleverness and overreliance on wacky drawings becomes more understandable.
>Gaz, Taster of Pork

>only game slave 2 and chickenfoot were good at best in these because of the humans in iz world (slaw man or the personal) and gaz
i enjoyed the zim-only centered ones more
I have repeated dreams of being anally raped by Squidward. In these dreams he holds me down and shoves his tentacles into everyone of my offices while I attempt to and fail to scream for help. After a while it becomes pleasurable and I begin to moan in pleasure and then I wake up erect.
Well they lost the ability to use Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, and after doing hundreds of episodes introducing new secondary characters helps to mix things up. Bubble Bass additionally fills a niche that wasn't really used before or a traditionally nerdy and antagonistic character.
I think they just wanted to give Spongebob a regular antagonist that wasn’t Plankton. So they brought back Bubble Bass instead. It helps he’s also on Spongebob and Patrick’s intelligence level.
The way he was introduced in his first episode would seem to suggest that he is that type of person
Neuroticism and being a geek tend to go hand in hand as all of them try to memorize and remember more than the others because that is how they determine the top dog
Jesus christ there's so much NOISE - is every new episode like this? Between the dialogue and the accent sfx and background music it's way too much (or maybe I'm just too old for it)
Everything is quick because this is meant for kids who really don't care about anything but the jokes and the writing staff loves to torture squidward
Lets be honest though real life is as fast paced as this when you are traveling and they are not going to just show them waiting and sitting this isn't some gay-ass drawn-together "joke" that was actually done to stay in budget and make deadlines
People noticed that in season 1 he seemed like he was supposed to be a minor recurring character like Larry, but then they never used him again for a long time. So when the show decided to start nostalgia pandering (like there's an episode where they bring back Bubble Buddy) they saw that people actually remember him so they brought him back, and then I guess they realized that they essentially had a new character to throw into the mix, but since he was established/designed so early into the show's run he didn't stick out like a sore thumb.
Well they lost the ability to use Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, and after doing hundreds of episodes introducing new secondary characters helps to mix things up. Bubble Bass additionally fills a niche that wasn't really used before or a traditionally nerdy and antagonistic character.
Bubble Bass allows the spongebob writers to have an antagonist plot that doesn't involve plankton trying to steal the formula.
he's in a very unique space in that he has a lot of traits you'd expect from modern Spongebob characters while being from much earlier in the show's run and having a leave of absence for years
Years ago there was a Pearl episode where she worked at the mall. SpongeBob was only in the background without relevancy whatsoever, not even a speaking role.
I will say I like this Shark minor character they have. Weird how Sharks are probably the most well known ocean animals yet Spongebob barely touched them.
[...]
[...]
In the Shark guy's first appearance he was Charlie Adler (Cow&Chicken) and was clearly an homage to his Red Guy character. In this episode, he's voiced by Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko, Camp Lazlo, tons of voices on Fairly Odd Parents, and the surfer, Scooter, on SpongeBob).
It reminds me of the Red Guy from Cow and Chicken, no idea who voiced the shark ehre though.

The Shark is just a species swap expy of the Announcer guy from Ren & Stimpy, who ironically enough also played a Hotel Desk Clerk in one episode.
I like the designs of most characters that are introduced from season 9 onwards, they try and fit the art style instead of looking ugly and uncanny like in the few previous seasons, it's not quite like the first 3 seasons but far more appealing, the show got some really good artists currently
They did a bear-shark before a real shark person unless the camping episode came after the beach one with that weight lifting shark but I think hes a whale
I liked it but I wouldn't want another episode with Bubble Bass and Squidward together in it. Too many gross out jokes with him.
But I'd love to see more Squidward focused episodes. He gets to suffer without spongebob being to blame for once.
Season 13 is actually pretty ok. The writers know their stuff and alot of old characters and locations get cameos. This season is pure nostalgia and that's a good thing.
Squidward torture beating a dead horse aside, I think what makes this episode decent is neither character wins in the end, which is quite rare in a Spongebob episode.
Squidward should have inconvenienced BB just as often so both truly felt in the same boat. The premise is original, but the story boils down to another "x annoys Squidward for 10 minutes." Also are all modern episodes so fast paced? There never seems to be a moment where it actually slows down for a bit.
A lot of them are. I can understand why some may like this new direction SpongeBob has taken, a long with the wacky animation, but it just feels like a different cartoon to me. Not all of it is bad, but the over-the-top style can be off-putting.
not a regular but he has been popping up multiple times, they also gave lore to the fish that says "my leg", he is the green one with the brown pants, the one that discovers the jellypatty
There are a few episodes in which SpongeBob only plays a bit role: >The Algae's Always Greener >Plankton's Army >New Leaf >The Executive Treatment >Mall Girl Pearl >Whale Watching >Shell Games >Karen's Baby >Lockdown for Love >A Skin-Wrinkle in Time
But this is the first one he's outright absent from.
>Mall Girl Pearl >Whale Watching
I might be completely alone on this (doubly so because I don't watch modern spongebob consistently), but I always liked these two specific pearl episodes a lot. Mall girl has a relatively ok moral which is weird to find in modern spongebob, and whale watching's pearl+squidward dynamic is very unique, we'll likely never get it again for decades.
>Karen's Baby
Did she? Was it a boy or a girl? A calculator?
>Is Hulk really so irrelevant to people these days?
Everyone knows it's a Hulk reference dummy, we're specifically talking about the "I already don't like you" response.
Any of Spongebob from season 10-now is better then season 4 (9B is more or less on par with 4) people tend to forget the lame back half because of the pretty good first half of the season
I saw the episode. Aside from the novelty of not involving the eponymous Sponge, it was just a series of yelling, torture and amorphous faces like most modern episodes. Not a shred of wit in it at all.
The original model sheets from both the '91 show and the APC had a way less generic standardized look. I'm only spitting facts here bruh, no need to get offended.
And thats based. when everyh cartoon now is bean slop they're using an old cartoon to serve a new purpose of being the one expressive cartoon in a sea of slop just like Bakshis Mighty Mouse
I'm going to start freezing Ren and Stimpy because everyone is kind of pushing that style lately, and we've already had some terrible cartoon styles in recent years. Are there any cartoons lately that have good quality?
Pre and post-movie 1 you can see a drop in quality, sure, but this isn't the same fricking show. This is fricking baby autism hyperactive loud bullshit fanfic.
I know but Fear of a Krabby Patty is still obnoxious because it foreshadows the bad times to come for Spongebob in the future. Characters got exaggerated/insane, the show started to slowly lose the classic underwater Hawaiian music, there's no more good jokes and calm moments and gross shit started to increase.
>You know for a fact Fear of a Krabby Patty is not as obnoxious as this is.
Sure, but it still suffers from the same problems that affect nu-bob today.
Season 8 was the worst fricking season of the show moron with 7 close behind. you younger zoomers with nostalgia for these seasons who try to convince yourself their somehow better then kino like season 11 deserve to be shot up at school.
Apparently the entire move leaked on discord. It spread to here. There's a video file of the entire movie posted here somewhere. The thread digits were nuked off the archive so there's some shenanigans are afoot.
I hate that they start with the understanding that people are going to pick and choose frames for reaction images, but if they're going to do that, at least this one's pretty good. I disagree with Squidward throwing an autistic tantrum like this though. I accept it implicitly for Bubble Bass.
If it were up to me I'd have Bubble Bass break down like he did, and have a Just One Bite style painted still of Squidward while you hear Bubble Bass flipping out offscreen. That's part of what's missing and a big contributor to the difference in pacing. I get that they're really cautious with the painted stills since Whobob Whatpants went too far and made one that was genuinely hard to look at, rather than funny, but I think it's been long enough and enough people who actually understand the show are working on it now that it shouldn't be such a problem.
Have no fears, we'll have stories for years.

Maybe it's because it's a TVrip or something, but EVERYTHING is too loud
>One for each cheek!
Alright I've had my kek
Even as someone who doesn’t like the modern stuff, this was pretty funny. Especially
youtube doesnt even care about viacom shit on their platform
thank you, i feel like everyone seems to think problem with modern spongebob is the exaggerated expressions when it's actually the pacing that's the issue, the music especially is too distracting
They over use the "BOON" sound effect too much
felt a little melancholy seeing the mermaid man cameo
>They kill the fricking baby
It's more Looney Tunes than OG Spongebob at this point but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't enjoy it.
the baby is fine, the ending gag relies on it
This and the "Mommy is going to ground them... INTO DUST" seem to be the standout moments of the episode.
damn
So he's dead, right?
>The Clownfish from "As seen on TV"
i was expecting a joke about clown cars, with like 15 of them coming out of the wreckage, but nope. we don't even see him get up, or later in the background with a cast on a wheelchair
?
you literally see him get up when they start pulling the plane away and he makes a honking noise in protest
welp, my bad. the other anon talking about it made me forget that
That would be a funny way to kill off a random ass incidental character.
>entire fricking spongebob episode up for over a day
wow youtube really is just total shit now.
episode was alright
Bull frick you were, don't blame me because you're wildly inept at communicating anything remotely near your actual point.
Just fastforwarded to a random point in the episode and sat in for 5 seconds:
>HEY. WHERE'S MY BABY?
>You... really want to know?
>AAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUGH
Okay. That's pretty good. Still not going to sit through the rest but that's great.
Wow there were actually a lot of good jokes in there. Too bad the nonstop bgm and sfx rendered it borderline unwatchable
>Is..this...your...BODY HAIR!?!?
>The horror, the horror
Kek
Under all that pointless noise, I'm sure there's a good episode. The concept is good it just never leaves any time to breathe.
The nonstop noise is intended to grab attention spans of hyperactive gen alpha that have been fricked thanks to smartphones and tablets.
I wonder when Spongebob will eventually lose relevance. Apparently ratings for the show have been under great decline.
That's every show on cable television now.
>Apparently ratings for the show have been under great decline.
That's less of a Spongebob issue and more of a cable issue. Spongebob is still Nick's best performing show. Hence all the spin-offs they're making of it.
What about The Loud House?
Spongebob really doesn't have to worry about ratings it has name recognition , merchandising and power, it's their Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny. It's making money.
The shark concierge reminded me of Red Guy from Cow and Chicken.
I liked it and I like that there using more of the original cast instead of introducing more secondary characters, but it still needs some work regarding pacing issues and the music
She's has a feeder fetish i bet
i like that, cheese does the work for fat skin
"...I hope she finds her baby."
That's actually a really good line read. Hahah
Is it really necessary for them to make a sound effect EVERY time they move?
>executive producer: Stephen Hillenburg
Isn't he fricking dead?
He's still credited both contractually and in tribute
>I have to powder my nose like a race horse!
kek
Is it just me or are the sound effects and BGM too loud?
mfw everyone who hates nu-sponge because it "sucks" just hated it for the sole reason of it being new and I missed out
You know. Maybe kids still have it good these days.
Surprisingly not as bad as it used to be. It feels like the current creators care at least a little bit.
music and SFX are way too loud but otherwise i like it
>It was actually a good episode. I was laughing throughout
>alright, that was funny
>Hey this was pretty good
>That was actually pretty funny
>It's really not bad at all.
>I smiled
>Alright I've had my kek
>Even as someone who doesn't like the modern stuff, this was pretty funny.
>That's pretty good.
>Wow there were actually a lot of good jokes in there.
>Kek
>I liked it
>kek
>everyone who hates nu-sponge because it "sucks" just hated it for the sole reason of it being new
>Maybe kids still have it good these days.
>My only smile was because the puppet incidentally reminded me of Batman's Scarface
The capeshit fan thinks he is allowed to critique media, lmao
>BtAS is bad
>nu-Sponge is good
Frick this gay ass site.
>>nu-Sponge is good
It is. Many modern cartoons today cannot match it's quality.
Zombie simpsons is unironically better than zombie spongebob. I have never seen a show fall from grace so hard and so fast.
you are moronic if you think spongebobs crappy beanmouth competition and modern simpsons are better then current spongebob fricking have a nice day you useless homosexual
Triggered
Who cares about your boring ass boomer show?
You're out of luck if you're scraping the butthole of the internet for good opinions, fellow oldie.
better then any gay beanmouth slop like cuck of the creek or big city sneeds
Hey, man, I love those shows.
It doesn't hold a candle to the early seasons, but if it makes me laugh what do you want me to say?
10-now is the best the shows been since season 4s first half first 3 seaosns were lightning in a bottle we'll never have back but for a show thats been running for 25 years its doing far better then Simpsons, Family Guy or even South Park
>I'm too old for this site.
then leave. no one cares about you
Don't hurt the bridge of your nose by pushing those pads too far up your face anon.
who hates nu-sponge because it "sucks" just hated it for the sole reason of it being new
Orrrrrr... It just sucks
This barely feels anything like the original show wtf.
>the excessive animation in this episode
I get that attention spans are lower compared to 20 years ago, but christ is the pacing bad. They need to focus more on the script.
Decent episode. The writers shouldve made Squidward go to an art museum though. couldve done a lot of jokes about comic books versus classical art.
>"I hope she finds her baby."
Mildly amusing.
What season are we at again?
13, iirc
they really did improve new spongebob
It's obnoxiously loud and frantically paced but alot better than I expected, doesn't feel like Spongebob but still better than anything they did post season 4. The baby getting blown out the window made me kek. Music choice was odd at times but felt like a nice addition, appropriate for the kind of show it's now become
Funnier than expected, could do with less frantic animation though, you don't need funny faces every 4 seconds.
I miss John Candy ;_;
If you imagine some overworked, underpaid storyboard artist rushing this shit out the door to meet deadlines, the lack of cleverness and overreliance on wacky drawings becomes more understandable.
>overworked, underpaid storyboard artist
How many cartoons is this artist making? Why doesn't >she go back to working for Starbucks?
That was surprisingly watchable.
>Bubble Bass is now portrayed as just some fat frick comic book nerd
Who's idea was this?
that wasn't bad. Didn't like the song number but overall, fun
<3
You just traced over a screenshot of the episode...
damn, caught me
It's called a storyboard genius.
Surprised nobody doing Capeshit joke in this comment
Link the episode
You fricking idiot
>Battle-Dib
>Game Slave 2
>The Sad, Sad Tale of Chickenfoot
Meanwhile, the first season of Invader Zim had three episodes without Zim.
>Gaz, Taster of Pork
and the second season had a double length episode in which Zim appears for less than a minute and is irrelevant to the plot. Nickelodeon disliked that episode.
>Nickelodeon disliked that episode.
But why?
>only game slave 2 and chickenfoot were good at best in these because of the humans in iz world (slaw man or the personal) and gaz
i enjoyed the zim-only centered ones more
I have repeated dreams of being anally raped by Squidward. In these dreams he holds me down and shoves his tentacles into everyone of my offices while I attempt to and fail to scream for help. After a while it becomes pleasurable and I begin to moan in pleasure and then I wake up erect.
WHY IS THERE AN ENTIRE CHANNEL DEDICATED TO BUBBLE BASS' ASS
I didn't even look at the channel. Holy shit.
Bubble Bass is funny
>caps on
>gets shocked about that content
>twittertard speech
no doubt you're an underage
You seem upset
You just proved him right.
Ok?
I've seen an entire channel dedicated to Oscar winners who played prostitutes.
Why not?
Now you know why Nick Avacado has an onlyfans.
Is there an echo in here?
Squidward is like the only character who can carry whole episodes
Why does Current Year Spongebob like using Bubble Bass so much anyway?
Well they lost the ability to use Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, and after doing hundreds of episodes introducing new secondary characters helps to mix things up. Bubble Bass additionally fills a niche that wasn't really used before or a traditionally nerdy and antagonistic character.
I think they just wanted to give Spongebob a regular antagonist that wasn’t Plankton. So they brought back Bubble Bass instead. It helps he’s also on Spongebob and Patrick’s intelligence level.
they could have brought back KEvin the Seacucumber
The VA is friends with one of the showrunners. No I don’t have proof, but that’s what this is.
BubbleBass's VA (Dee Bradley Baker) has been a series regular from the start.
He honestly feels like a character that should have been recurring from the beginning, given that he and SpongeBob were already familiar with him.
Bubble Bass was supposed to be recurring originally, but I think he was shelved because Plankton filled the antagonistic role better.
Plankton is a genuinely good well written comedic antagonist
Bubble Bass is just fricking annoying
They changed him into a stereotypical comic book nerd which must be easy to write for and create new episodes with.
The way he was introduced in his first episode would seem to suggest that he is that type of person
Neuroticism and being a geek tend to go hand in hand as all of them try to memorize and remember more than the others because that is how they determine the top dog
Because fat jokes are easy.
because he was gone for decades. and with him being a meme, they have reason to keep him around now. plus makes fans happy.
Bubble Bass allows the spongebob writers to have an antagonist plot that doesn't involve plankton trying to steal the formula.
So they can dunk on people like (YOU)
he's in a very unique space in that he has a lot of traits you'd expect from modern Spongebob characters while being from much earlier in the show's run and having a leave of absence for years
Years ago there was a Pearl episode where she worked at the mall. SpongeBob was only in the background without relevancy whatsoever, not even a speaking role.
Yeah, but SpongeBob doesn't even appear this time.
Spongebob speaks at the end of that episode
Shouldnt the Patrick show count too?
I will say I like this Shark minor character they have. Weird how Sharks are probably the most well known ocean animals yet Spongebob barely touched them.
Why would it? It's a different show.
that
>yeeees
from his at the start gave me deja-vu, i swear i heard it somewhere before in the exact same intonation and voice
It reminds me of the Red Guy from Cow and Chicken, no idea who voiced the shark ehre though.
>the Red Guy
>Red Guy character
It's the devil. Are you fricking kidding me?
Anon, the character's name is Red Guy, he was called the devil only in the pilot
Shit, didn't know that. My bad.
Frank Nelson.
?t=120
It's a reference to an old joke by Frank Nelson.
Yeah even The Simpsons had a recurring gag character like this
>The Simpsons
that's it
YEES!
The Shark is just a species swap expy of the Announcer guy from Ren & Stimpy, who ironically enough also played a Hotel Desk Clerk in one episode.
it's not really different at all. it's still spongebob
I like the designs of most characters that are introduced from season 9 onwards, they try and fit the art style instead of looking ugly and uncanny like in the few previous seasons, it's not quite like the first 3 seasons but far more appealing, the show got some really good artists currently
>hey that's my family you're fricking
>Weird how Sharks are probably the most well known ocean animals yet Spongebob barely touched them.
Hillenberg wanted to focus on lesser known/obscure sea creatures (that's why you hardly see dolphins)
They did a bear-shark before a real shark person unless the camping episode came after the beach one with that weight lifting shark but I think hes a whale
>It's just for one night, how bad can it be
>the room is actually not bad at all
>bubble bass is the one that ruins it
Now that surprised me
Squidward looks like he's having nam flashbacks.
I liked it but I wouldn't want another episode with Bubble Bass and Squidward together in it. Too many gross out jokes with him.
But I'd love to see more Squidward focused episodes. He gets to suffer without spongebob being to blame for once.
Eh the grossout comes from the parody aspect, a different plot wouldn't be as disgusting I imagine
Is the movie its parodying that gross? Better not watch it then
>makes a reference to an earlier episode
Wow. First Scott Pilgrim, now SpongeBob.
And they're both good
Damn straight.
Lol
Why didn't they use Patrick instead of Bubble Bass?
Patrick is an idiot whereas Bubble Bass is average IQ, and is there really anything special about the 99th episode of Patrick annoying Squidward?
They like Bubble Bass because he's a nerd/incel/Cinemaphile user, a character the average twitter user loves to make fun of
wasn't there an episode where Patrick was a playdate for Bubble Bass?
Modern SpongeBob does have its moments. This episode was cool with them working together
another foot fetish episode?
Nick is really still doing that. It’s ok when it’s done right instead of weird
Season 13 is actually pretty ok. The writers know their stuff and alot of old characters and locations get cameos. This season is pure nostalgia and that's a good thing.
Things like sandy and Darlene episode are cool and have sponge be a side character sometimes. Being run by fans of the show now helps too
Squidward torture beating a dead horse aside, I think what makes this episode decent is neither character wins in the end, which is quite rare in a Spongebob episode.
Shit I might watch this one actually
A squidward bubble bass episode sounds based
This thread reeks of shilling
Probably but an episode without SB is pretty note worthy
nickelodeon must be truly desperate if so
that's not true.
THIS was the first.
It has a variation of SpongeBob, though.
still NOT spongebob.
If you want to be pedantic SpongeBob BC also counts because it featured a caveman ancestor of SpongeBob and not the actual SpongeBob.
youtube poop tier but better
this shit's still going?
Milk the sponge.
If it wasn’t the Yellow King they’d still be running the fairy show.
Is Bubble Bass a regular now or something? I don't keep up with nu Spongebob for obvious reasons.
not a regular but he has been popping up multiple times, they also gave lore to the fish that says "my leg", he is the green one with the brown pants, the one that discovers the jellypatty
>Froggay
>"LOL so self aware lol xD!! ¡!"
Thread already ruined
You can ruin what's already ruined, TRAFON posting.
FUUUUUUTUUUUURE
If bubblebass counts as fat ugly bastard what hentai archetype does squidward fall under?
old_man
No, I'd say he's a salaryman.
Angry older but not old Salaryman whos heart is melted by dicky
ojisan
I remember Spongebob only briefly appears at the end in this Patrick episode, so not the first time an episode completely works without him
There are a few episodes in which SpongeBob only plays a bit role:
>The Algae's Always Greener
>Plankton's Army
>New Leaf
>The Executive Treatment
>Mall Girl Pearl
>Whale Watching
>Shell Games
>Karen's Baby
>Lockdown for Love
>A Skin-Wrinkle in Time
But this is the first one he's outright absent from.
>Mall Girl Pearl
>Whale Watching
I might be completely alone on this (doubly so because I don't watch modern spongebob consistently), but I always liked these two specific pearl episodes a lot. Mall girl has a relatively ok moral which is weird to find in modern spongebob, and whale watching's pearl+squidward dynamic is very unique, we'll likely never get it again for decades.
>Karen's Baby
Did she? Was it a boy or a girl? A calculator?
Chip a boyo

spongebob eps on here
Neat
Based
On where?
The artists are trying so hard to force meme faces it's embarrassing
Is Spongebbo Y2K?
the animation insists upon itself
using a fricking family guy line to critique a show with actual animation lmao
>People saying Spongebob ripped off the 'You won't like me when I'm angry' gag.
Is Hulk really so irrelevant to people these days?
>Is Hulk really so irrelevant to people these days?
Everyone knows it's a Hulk reference dummy, we're specifically talking about the "I already don't like you" response.
That part I wonder where it was said first
Aqua Teen Hunger Force, in 2003
this doesn't even look like a screenshot from spongebob wtf happened to the show
spumco animators
Season 13 is better than season 4.
come at me.
Outside of Krusty Towers season 4 is pretty mid
Any of Spongebob from season 10-now is better then season 4 (9B is more or less on par with 4) people tend to forget the lame back half because of the pretty good first half of the season
Change a few colors and this is someone from Rocko's Modern Life
Up
Fricking finally.
>I gotta powder my nose like a racehorse
heh
i can fix her
I saw the episode. Aside from the novelty of not involving the eponymous Sponge, it was just a series of yelling, torture and amorphous faces like most modern episodes. Not a shred of wit in it at all.
Technically, the Algae’s Aways Greener doesn’t feature SpongeBob because it was his alternate universe double in that episode.
>first episode to not feature spongebob at all
really? I thought they did that plenty of times?
I checked the director, Ian Vasquez's twitter before and he posts furry fetish inflation and vore art. This is who they hire now?
Most cartoonists are sexual weirdos even more so now that they've grown up online. Just look at Robert Crumb
>Model sheet is based on the friendliest drawing of Ren you can find on Google images
It's Joever.
Why the hell did you expect any exaggerated Ren face on a standard turnaround sheet? Are you ok?
The original model sheets from both the '91 show and the APC had a way less generic standardized look. I'm only spitting facts here bruh, no need to get offended.
Where is Ren's tail?
Ren does not a have a tail in later seasons of the original show because John K hated having to animate it.
Is the reboot's style based on games animations era of Ren and Stimpy or will it attempt to mimic Spumco's style?
You have to post more now
Squidward and Bubblebass spinoff pitch episode is what I got from this.
TRAFON posting
They could animate the show like the old seasons but I don't think they want to. They want it to be Ren and Stimpy 2.0.
And thats based. when everyh cartoon now is bean slop they're using an old cartoon to serve a new purpose of being the one expressive cartoon in a sea of slop just like Bakshis Mighty Mouse
Unironically the way current spongebob is animated could work really well for ren and stimpy
idk, I think R&S felt slower paced than modern spongebob
It was. They would put emphasis on exaggerating how a character was feeling and the like.
SOUL SOULLESS
I'm going to start freezing Ren and Stimpy because everyone is kind of pushing that style lately, and we've already had some terrible cartoon styles in recent years. Are there any cartoons lately that have good quality?
>Are there any cartoons lately that have good quality?
idk start a thread and ask. you're guaranteed responses.
nu spongebob is the definition of insisting upon itself.
old spongebob was true soul.
spongebob patrick squidward sandy mr krabs gary plankton
Spongebob's the only modern cartoon that wants to be cartoony, every other modern cartoon is made for 30-year-olds who have "comfort characters"
Why is everyone liking nu-sponge, I thought we all hated it?
It's a mixed bag. Maybe we're all just too jaded.
?si=IJQ0KCDua3d5vQRt&t=6
Season 11 should have been the last.
Pre and post-movie 1 you can see a drop in quality, sure, but this isn't the same fricking show. This is fricking baby autism hyperactive loud bullshit fanfic.
Season 3 should have been the last.
>This is fricking baby autism hyperactive loud bullshit fanfic.
Literally the first episode of Season 4 Spongebob.
I don't really like anything after season 8 but 11 would've given them time to hit the brakes.
You know for a fact Fear of a Krabby Patty is not as obnoxious as this is.
Actually both current spongebob and FoaKP are a better direction visually then season 3 looking as bland as season 7 half the time
Bassward sounds like a ship between bubble bass and Squidward
testing the audience for more spinoffs and to see if they could cut Tom Kenny
Wasn't there an episode about Pearl in a mall that NEARLY didn't contain Spongebob and only did as a shoehorn at the literal last second?
I have an irrational level of emotional attachment to squidward.
I shouldn't be surprised this show is still going considering the money it no doubt brings in, but I am disappointed.
Squidward show when
Test
Apparently the entire move leaked on discord. It spread to here. There's a video file of the entire movie posted here somewhere. The thread digits were nuked off the archive so there's some shenanigans are afoot.
were the digits.
Yea, but did they frick?
I hate that they start with the understanding that people are going to pick and choose frames for reaction images, but if they're going to do that, at least this one's pretty good. I disagree with Squidward throwing an autistic tantrum like this though. I accept it implicitly for Bubble Bass.
He already had a very rough day by then
If it were up to me I'd have Bubble Bass break down like he did, and have a Just One Bite style painted still of Squidward while you hear Bubble Bass flipping out offscreen. That's part of what's missing and a big contributor to the difference in pacing. I get that they're really cautious with the painted stills since Whobob Whatpants went too far and made one that was genuinely hard to look at, rather than funny, but I think it's been long enough and enough people who actually understand the show are working on it now that it shouldn't be such a problem.
sexo
